The Khandakapala Buddhist Center (now called the Kadampa Meditation Center California) offers numerous weekly classes at the temple and in branches throughout Los Angeles. The teachings are based on Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche's books and teachings. Part of the NKT (New Kadampa Tradition) based in England, this living Mahayana lineage in the tradition of Je Tsonghkhapa presents clear, easily applied Dharma that people can use in their daily lives to solve their problems, reduce stress, become calmer and happier, and help those around them to do the same. Everyone there seems to be friendly and genuinely interested in helping others. The Center's new website was just extensively revised to reflect the new name and function as a hub for the tradition's several California centers. It contains a lot of useful information, photos, and information about events and classes. I have benefitted tremendously from my association with this Buddhist Center and highly recommend it.
Pros: Classes and functions are characterized by warmth, clarity, practicality and humor.
Cons: Have to call first for other than scheduled classes/events; not yet staffed 100% of time.
