After shopping for a new vehicle online, we found a new Toyota Highlander we liked at John Harvey Toyota in Shreveport, about two hours from our home. We spoke to the saleman on the phone; he quoted us a price, and we agreed to come in for a test drive. When we arrived at the dealership after the long trip, we took the vehicle for a drive. The first thing I noticed about the car was that it had 5,000 miles on it. When I asked the salesman about it, he said it had been driven by the owner's secretary. I responded, "Oh, we thought the car was new." He said, "It is new. It's never been titled to anyone." We felt duped that we had driven two hours to see the vehicle under the pretense that it was new, and to us 5,000 miles does not qualify as "new." To make matters worse, the dealership priced our trade ridiculously less than what it was worth according to Kelley Blue Book and Black Book Online. Needless to say, we took our business elsewhere. The one good thing I can say about the dealership is the fountain drink bar was nice.
