John & Corky's Automotive Specialist

The team at J&C Automotive, especially John and Ray (at the front desk), are amazing; by far the best car-related customer service I've ever experienced. My family and I have been Ray's customers for over 10 years and we've all followed him around to many different Lamb's Automotive service centers in the past but are so glad Ray works at J&C Automotive now. They have better prices, an excellent team of mechanics, and work hard to get you in & out as quickly as possible. As for customer service, J&C Auto. couldn't be better. I had my oil changed at J&C yesterday around 1pm. By about 6:30pm my VW started making a really awful squeaking noise and by 9pm, when I got home, the check-engine light had turned on. I called J&C at 7am this morning and spoke with Ray about my VW's troubles since having my oil changed the day before. Ray didn't even hesitate to help - he immediately called a tow-truck to come pick up me & my car. (The towing company was great too - Triton Towing, ask for Tony Smith!) Within an hour I was transported from the 4-Points area to Round Rock where John, Ray, and the mechanic who worked on my car yesterday, met me at my car before it was even taken off the tow-truck. It was amazing to know how much each person at J&C cared - the mechanic instantly apologized for my inconvenience and thoroughly went through the steps he took when changing my oil the day before alleviating all doubt in my mind that he had done something wrong (and in the end, he had done his job CORRECTLY and had even went above and beyond to make sure it was right). Both John and Ray assured me that they would get my VW fixed ""no matter what it takes"" and they did exactly that! It took a few hours to figure out the problem (at one point I saw 4 mechanics working on my car) but the guys at J&C Auto. got it done and I'm so pleased with the result. My car is back to running smooth - no noise, no light - but there was no apparent connection between the issues I had with my VW & the activity of getting my oil changed yesterday. This is where J&C Auto. really upheld the title of outstanding customer service: I was NOT charged for the repairs; not even a penny. J&C Auto. fixed my car for FREE because they felt like it was too much of a coincidence for my VW to have engine issues right after an oil change even though they couldn't find a connection between the two. They told me they would take care of me and they did! J&C Automotive is an amazing company with honest employees who will get the job done no matter what it takes. I will absolutely be returning to J&C Automotive Specialists in the future. Thanks for the excellent customer service! more

I was picked up by Triton Towing and referred to this shop and I just would like to tell people they are just eons ahead of any other garage I have ever been to or even seen. CLEAN and well staffed it was amazing to see. All around a great experience. This type of garage and atmosphere is hard to find without going broke so I wanted to share with you all that I think this place is simply the best. more

JC Automotive Specialists is the way to go as far as Miatas are concerned. Just look at the pic on the homepage. 'Nuff said. I recently got stuck on a project I was feebly attempting to do myself. Ball joints. After calling and being respectfully told that an over-the-phone quote would not be accurate, I decided to have my car towed there. Not only did they take a look at it the same day but replaced the worn ball joints for just the cost of three hours labor at $298.00 (I provided parts). About five hours after having it towed there, I was back to attacking corners with a new and more confident feel. Save yourself the time and just go to JC Automotive Specialists. Thanks guys! more

I had four brand new wheel rims and since they are certified tire-rack installer, I have them install it for me. They did a good job without damaging or scratching the new wheels. The installation was a bit pricy but reasonable compared to other tire shop. Overall, I was satisfied as a first time customer. more

As a woman many times I have been treated like I was an idiot or told I needed repairs I did not . NOT HERE! The tech explained everything to me in a manner I could understand My car has never run better and as a woman driving alone it is so important to feel confident in its reliability. The customer service rep called me to check on my satisfaction and She was very sincere in Her making sure I had had a good experience. When I told the customer service rep how happy I was that they treated women with respect She told me that the shop was donating $500.oo to the Annunciations Maternity in Georgetown when they had 1000 fans on facebook and also have done work on womens cars from the battered womens shelter to make sure their cars were safe. I have been going to Automotive Specialist in Round Rock for over 3 years now and never fully appreciated what a great place they were until I stopped at one of those quickly oil change places. I was told by the oil change place that I had several things wrong with my car that were going to cost well over $500. The things they said I needed done sounded kinda ""fishy"" to me, especially since they made it sound like if I didn't do it right then my car would for sure be a ""goner"". So I said ""no thanks"" and went back to Automotive Specialist where the guy at the front desk (Jonathan--I think??) said they would have one of the techs look at my car and see if it really needed anything. After they looked at it (it did NOT need anything done!!) he took the time to take me out to the car and showed me everything then even showed me on the computer a diagram of the area and explain to me (in a manner that I could understand) the workings of my car. I got a mini lesson on cars and actually understood finally some of the basic mechanics of a car!! The big plus was that they didn't even charge me for their time. In a world were it seems everyone is out to screw you I am very impressed with the attitude of Automotive Specialist. They truly are a Family Mechanic--the owner of the shop is a local Round Rock resident--not some big corporation and he even has some of his family members working there. A++++++ THANKS!! I was fooled by the high ratings but little did i know that the owners ""encourage"" the staff keep track to make sure they write their own reviews to sucker people in. The front office staff was very crude and not at all helpful. I had some minor engine work done and was right back in the shop the following week to get the problem corrected. I would NOT recommend this shop at all. Pros: None come to mind. Cons: Crude office staff. more

I took my car in to the Local Honda Dealer for a Safety Recall on my airbags. I did not ask them to check anything else on the car. When I went to pick it up, they handed me an estimate for a $1000 worth of work that my car needs. I then took it to John and Corky's for a second opinion after reading about them online. They did the work for a much lower price and told me that it would be way too soon to do some of the other recommended work. My brakes still had about 30-40% life left in them, and the ""oil leak"" was hardly more than a trickle on my high mileage Civic. My 2002 Silverado would not pass inspection because of the engine knock sensor (questionable design by GM). After doing my home work on prices to fix this, I came to find the service writer Jonathan & the service technician at Automotive Specialists knew what was going on with my truck. Futhermore, they were very knowledgeable on how to prevent this from happening again. This may not impress many, but the two dealerships I called did not have a clue as to what I was talking about. Out of two dealings, they got points on one and failed the other. They diagnosed a seat belt problem correctly that was causing the SRS warning to come on. Then told us that the manufacturer would probably still cover that under warranty. They could have just fixed it and charged us big time. On the second visit, I had called ahead of time for a quote on regular maintenance work. After loading up the baby and delaying getting into work, I get there and I'm told the price was double what they said. Even more expensive than the dealer! The fact that they told me the new price before doing the work and their current reviews may mean I'll give them a second chance if I cannot find a different shop that I like. I just wanted to say thanks for not selling me a full brake job when all I needed was my front brakes repaired. When I went in I asked for all of my pads to be replaced and rotors turned but your mechanicshowed me that my rear pads still had plenty of miles left on them and that I should wait to replace them.Thanks for the honesty. I am VERY Unhappy with the work JCAutospec has done on my car. I took it in 4/30/08, (yes last year) to replace the oil pan gasket with a new one as it was leaking awfully. The car was not running, so I had it flat-bedded up to Round Rock. Cons: Dishonesty, bad mechanical work more

Well I am only writing this review because the other REVIEWS were obviously written by the owners of the place. This was no where near close to my nightmare with Dan (The used car type salesman) Manager there. I used these reviews to take my vehicle to them for a Diagnosis for emissions. I had just gotten a voucher from the STATE of TEXAS for the TexasAirCheck Program that offered up to $600.00 to get my vehicle to pass emissions. Mind you it passed fine last year but since this program went into effect, everyone is getting failed and referred to the program so these rip offs can steal the money out of STATE and then on top of getting the $600.00 from the STATE they try to up the Co Pay from $30.00 per the AIrCheck Aprroval Letter to almost $50.00 to perform a Diagnostic after which you get to approve or decline the repairs. The letter says...$30.00 co pay so make sure you clarify it before you leave your car....if you go to this place.....don't say you were not warned by a REAL customer. They took my truck at 11am on Monday telling me they would call me in two hours...no call.....not all day or night...I called the next day where I was informed that my Emissions Repair would be over $1300.00....they were getting $600.00 or up to that amount from the STATE and wanted $700.00 MORE from us. The program is for people needing help not needing to be ripped off more. I declined the repair and took it to another place in Round Rock where it will be fixed for under $600.00 easily. I reported this to AirCheck and they advised also filing a complaint with the TX Dept of Transportation which I am going to do next. They are also going to start taking rip offs like this place and Lambs for the excessively high estimates. The other places submit normal ones but this place and Lambs try to rip the customer off as well as the State. BEWARE!!!! Cons: Fraud Warning more
