this is one of those places where you pick your favorite dishes and go back for it over and over. The fish tacos are really good, though a little pricey (somewhere in the $3.50 range for one taco), and come with no sides, but they're really, really good. The tostaditas, a lighter meal choice, is the Joe's special slaw on top of a fried corn tortilla, topped with your choice of meats (fish, meat, tofu). It's an unusual tostada, and quite tasty. But the best thing about Joe's Taco's are the Street Burgers - these small burgers come with bacon, cheese, sweet and hot peppers (just like a Philly cheese steak), and a small side of their yummy spicy fries -- all for around $4.00. You can order the regular burgers street-style and they'll charge you a little extra, but you get a regular sized burger and choice of salad or spicy fries. I gotta agree that their stale chips and salty, flavorless pico de gallo are not worth even a buck, but other than that, most everything's pretty darned good. I find the prices to be a little steep for lunch, maybe that's why I stick with the street burger, a taco or a tostadita. Don't bother with the desserts. They're not very good. This is a great place for atmosphere, friendly staff, and some good eats. Out-of-towners are always pleased, especially when they try the street burgers. A great place for kids, esp. those with parents who let them rampage, so if you don't like loud, messy children practically sitting in your lap, stay away during peak hours.
Pros: A couple of really worthy dishes, served in a lively, unique atmosphere
Cons: Some things are over priced, can be very crowded, unruly small children during peak hours.
