Best

always great food and perfect attention to detail to get the order correct.

Worst

This was an awful dining experience. The only good thing about it was they have the most tasty scallops and spinach! Valet was rude, Our waiter took 20 mins to come to the table...

Wonderful 3/30/2006

The crab, the side dishes, the dessert... we enjoyed every bite!! more

Meal and Service is worth the money! 2/18/2006

My fiancee and I went to Chicago for New Year's and I have to say this was the best meal we have had in a long time. The crab legs were magnificent. Our Server was well informed and very courteous. Overall the food and atmosphere was GREAT! Its a little pricey however Joes is worth every penny! Enjoy!!! Pros: Food, Drinks, Service more

Best Meal in Chicago!! 2/2/2006

Start with the stone crabs, then the signature 16oz bone in filet, with sides of jennie's potatoes and creamed spinach, and finish with the key lime pie. I've been to all the big name chicago steakhouses, this by far was the best! more

I'm glad I went...but wouldn't go back 1/7/2006

Even when dining midweek, you will be rewarded with immediate seating by making reservation in advance. Not a budget buy...but not bad for a nice dinner. For a budget buy seafood place I still think Shaw's is tough to beat for the price...but the food at Joe's was better quality and better prepared than I've had at Shaw's...although the poor service from both Joe's and Shaw's (Chicago) are on par with each other. If you want some decent seafood and beef...I would recommend Joe's. We had a great time and good food. But if your looking for some fine cuisine, I'd look elsewhere. I'm so glad I went...we did have a good meal. But it wasn't good enough where I'll be going back any time soon. There are too many other places I'd rather try. Happy eating! Pros: Blue Crab, decent seafood, nice beef Cons: service was bad more

Our holiday dinner at Joe's on December 30th 2005 1/6/2006

I have dined at Joe'a many times, but this time I was highly dissapointed. The waiter had an attitude. The food quality was excellent, but the stone crabs were small and the Madagascar shrimps at $13.95 ea. (overpriced).. The irritation culminated when paying for it with a combination of gift certificates and a Visa debit card. The waiter mischarged the entire amount to my Visa card (around $443) then recharged my card the correct amount of $218, but without even telling me. This error created havoc on my account. When I called the manager the next day, they said sorry, but mistakes do happen. What a poor response to my dissatisfaction. They could have at least invited me back for a drink on the house or something. Anyway, I would still go back, but I would not assume that this restaurant is perfect anymore, just because you're paying that price. Pros: food quality, drinks, ambience Cons: price more

Visit during offpeak hours! 1/2/2006

Waited 3/4hour after reservation on thursday night, but great food. Try the stone crabs! Our waiter was excellent/ one of the best in the business! more

The Best Seafood/Steakhouse 10/18/2005

I travel to NYC and Chicago several times a year for pleasure. This is always the best dining experience ever!!!!!! more

OZ is the Man! 9/8/2005

Joe's was our place to celebrate our 21st anniversary on September 11th. The dining experience was 2nd to none. The crab claws were magnificent!!! The signature bone-in ribeye was cooked and seasoned to perfection. To top off our evening our waiter OZ made us feel like royalty, he is the MAN!! We are returning to Joe's tomorrow September 10, 2005 to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. We hope OZ is still there and we can get him again. Pros: OZ, Food, Key lime pie more

10 out of 10 8/18/2005

I ate at Joe's when visiting Chicago. I ABSOLUTELY agree with all other reviewers about this restaurant....from the food to the service we were treated like Kings and Queens. With ne'er a bad review in all the ones i have read - this restaurant deserves an overall rating of 10 not 9.8 Pros: service with respect, treated like a star, food quality=price Cons: none that I can think more

The best meal ever! 7/30/2005

Stopped at Joes because my friend had gone there about a year ago and had enjoyed her experience. The meal was one of the best I have ever had, along with great service and a warm atmosphere. I had the crab stuffed sole with lobster sauce and was impressed by not only the great taste but how the portions were perfect--not huge and not too small. After informing the very knowledgeable and helpful waitress that we came because one of us had been there before, she brought out free dessert for all 4 of us as a surprise for coming back! It was fabulous and delicious. A great place to eat after walking on Michigan Avenue all day. more

If Frank Sinatra were a fish 4/11/2005

Joe's is a wonderful place. We eat lunch there on Saturdays and we have never been disappointed. The food is wonderful, the service is outstanding, and the ambiance is a throw back to the ""Rat Pack"" era. This is our favorite restaurant. Joe's does an excellent job of mixing casual with elegant. You almost feel as if you are stepping into an old movie when you walk through the doors. Pros: Location, Food, Service more

A wonderful suprise 2/21/2005

We were just looking to eat at a place where the gift certificate would take us. Who would have known that we would have one of the best meals ever with the best service ever. We did not make reservations and ended up in the lounge. Even that was comfortable and the menu selection was the same. Can't wait to go back when they are expecting us. Pros: valet 10 dollars more

Awesome 10/4/2004

Went to this restaurant on several occassions and was never disappointed. I've been to several seafood restaurants in Chicago and this by far is the best. Both steak and seafood are great. Crab legs are fully cracked and ready to eat. Amount and quality of food for the price is great. Wonderful wait staff - always willing to accommodate and recommend. Pros: great food, price, wait staff more

Stone Crab Heaven 10/28/2003

We dined at Joe's on Sunday, October 26. It was our fourth visit over the past year. The food and ambiance are still exceptional but we found that the maitre d' was seating his friends ahead of our party and was not using discretion or tact in letting others know this. Joe's should make more of an effort to honor the times of reservations. I think some fresh faces in the front of the restaurant would be a welcome change. The stone crabs were great! Drinks could not be better! Pros: atmosphere, stone crabs, Embers dressing Cons: entry thru bar, maitre' d, long wait for table more

Memorable 8/23/2003

Very gracious and attentive but not obtrusive waitstaff. Was extremely busy but I felt as if I could enjoy my meal at a leisurely pace. My Filet Mignon was PERFECT. Sugar Snap Peas were absolutely divine. Key Lime Pie was scrumptious. An all around wonderful and luxurious experience. more

Excellent!!! 6/9/2003

This was a perfect start to an anniversary celebration. We went on a weekday so not crowded at all, but the dining room did fill up into the night. The service, atmosphere, food, wine and anything else you can think of was top notch - well worth the money. Seeing regulars in the dining room, we knew we chose a winner. Go back? Absolutely, without hesitation. Pros: valet, not too loud, great service Cons: parking difficult more

A Fantastic Night! 4/11/2003

Starting with the ease of making a reservation, our night was started in style. Service was superb, food was fantastic and portion sizes are enough to share. Joe's Famous Scallops were the best scallops I have ever had and the side of asparagus was enough to please 3 people. Not a complaint could be found! Mirrors on all walls allow for people watching (fun thing in a big city!). Bathroom was upstairs and not accessible for handicap. Pros: atmospere, portion size, quality Cons: bathroom upstairs, parking (valet), can be pricey more

GREAT! 4/9/2003

Everything was fantastic: the food, drinks and the service. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. We had a bit of a wait for our table but my boyfriend and I didn't mind. We waited in the bar area, had a couple of drinks and just enjoyed the atmosphere. Their apple martinis are the best I have ever had. Their steak and lobster dinner was excellent (cooked to perfection). Ill definitely go back! more

Perfect Dinner! 2/10/2003

My fiancee and I went to Joe's a few weeks ago while visiting Chicago, and it ened up being the hilight of our trip. We were seated immediatley in a booth, and our waiter Brad was very knowledgeable about the menu, making it easier for us to choose from the many choices. The food was great, very large protions. We split a small ceasar salad which was more than enough for the two of us, and was good. The staff as awsome and we will go back the next time we are in the city! Pros: Friendly Staff, Great food, Nice atmosphere Cons: Can be expensive more

Excellent! 10/28/2002

By far the best steak in chicago! Have never had a bad experience here with food or service. Stone crabs, crab cakes and Jennie's potatoes are outstanding! more
