Had been going to Jimbo's for 15 years, but the last two visits will be our last. Prices have gone up consideribly, portions have shrunk and the food is now only average at best. ...

Very generous hush puppies not the small balls I was expecting more like miniature corn cobs. Both the hush puppies and chopped pork sandwich I got were delicious and filling. Definitely worth stopping by! more

Seriously Deteriorated 10/19/2010

Had been going to Jimbo's for 15 years, but the last two visits will be our last. Prices have gone up consideribly, portions have shrunk and the food is now only average at best. Ribs are very dry and tough. There are any number of much better BBQ places in Tampa. more

We really like Jimbo's for authentic Tampa style! The food is always good. The pork sandwich is great and I like the touch of the free pickled veggies on the counter. Also love the laid back wooden family style decor. more

Barbecue Fix 11/21/2008

We tried this Barbecue place out on one of our soccer weekends. Wasn't that crazy bout the sauce but the ribs,chicken,french fries,and pulled pork all were superb and enjoyed by all of us.Everyone else liked the sauce,must have been me. Try them out. more

Great BBQ at a great price. The sauce is absolutely amazing, and the portions are large. If you go, you have to try the ribs, baked beans and slaw. Did I mention the sauce is amazing? You can put it on anything and I often do. It's served warm and brought to your table fresh, unlike other BBQ places with luke warm bottles that have been sitting at your table for days or weeks... The hush puppies here are outstanding. I put the bbq sauce on them too. :) The restaurant could look nicer, but I could care less with bbq this good. You won't be disappointed with Jimbo's. The best BBQ in South Tampa 5/1/2006

If you find yourself hungry for BBQ in South Tampa, there aren't many options. You could go to Fred Flemings, Kojacks, or a chain that may have an accidental BBQ item on the menu. Given the selection, Jimbo's is a real find! They have a smoker on site (and will even smoke your own meat for you, just ask!) and the food is always top notch. The ribs are fantastic, the chopped pork sandwich is excellent, the sauce is the perfect mix of spice and flavor. While they don't offer a brisket sandiwch, ask for the sliced beef sandwich ""chopped."" It's the closest to Texas BBQ around. Don't leave without ordering a dozen hush puppies! If you're interested in something different, try them for breakfast on a weekend. Pros: great food, quick service, free pickles Cons: very busy at lunch more

Best BBQ in FL or TN!! 2/19/2006

All I can say is...AMAZING! I have been going here for the past 5 years and I still can't get enough! It tops any other BBQ I ever tasted in TN (and I tried 'em all!) Love the thick-cut pickles to munch on while you wait! Try the pulled pork or ribs and creamy potato salad! The best part, though, is the addicting sauce which is served warm at your table. Yummy! While the place was pretty empty the service was very slow. Would not do the ribs again or the cole slaw. Probably won't go back. more

disappointed 2/5/2005

I was truly disappointed with this place. My husband and I stopped for an early lunch. We walked in and the staff looked over in our direction but nobody greeted us. We sat down and waited for someone to take our order, especially since we were the first ones in there. Shortly after, another couple came in and were happily greeted and waited on. We sat there at least 10 minutes but no one ever came to place our order so we left. Cons: service more

There's always a warm welcome at Jimbo's & the ""Q"" is terrific. One of the treats I miss now that I'm not in Tampa. Frankie (and brother, Jay) run topnotch restaurants and were the BEST dancers at Kathleen High in the late 50's-early 60's! more
