Everything worked out fine. 8/28/2010

I purchased a living room set from Jennifer Convertibles in early August 2010. I got a couch, loveseat, two end tables and a coffee table plus accessories. It was a really good deal. Dennys, the sales person working while we were there, was helpful and attentive, but not breathing down our throat to sell us furniture. I found it slightly inconvenient that it was going to take so long to get delivered (almost an entire month), but I finally got my furniture today. I spent most of the day in a state of panic because I read all the horror stories about Jennifer Convertibles. Had I known these stories in advance, I probably wouldn't have bought the living room set. That said, they did call me the day prior to delivery to give me my delivery time frame, which was between 1 pm and 6pm on a Saturday. The deliverymen came at 3 pm, brought all the furniture and set it all up. None of the furniture was damaged, it all looks great and I am pretty happy with it thus far. We will see how long it holds up. I have a third floor walk up so they did charge me $5 per floor, which ended up being about $60 extra, but I was warned about the fee in advance. I didn't mind it so much because it was cash paid directly to the deliverymen and they did work hard bringing it up the stairs and setting it up. I am satisfied with my experience so far, but I don't think I will purchase another couch from them given all the horror stories. more

Could be Worse. 10/21/2009

I went into this Astoria showroom last month and bought a 3-seater couch (non-sofabed). Paid in full. Was told it would be delivered in two weeks, within a 5-hour window. I wouldn't know which 5-hour window until the night before delivery. That sucks, I thought, but whatever, I'm getting a couch. Got home, went online, and panicked. There are innumerable horror stories associated with this company, and most individual stores – stories of late delivery, or no delivery at all, damaged goods, and nightmarish customer service. My experience, though, was okay, deserving of 3 stars. The couch arrived when they said it would, and the store did call the night before with details of the 5-hour window. There were no issues with the delivery men; they were in and out in less than 10 minutes. The only bad part of the experience, for me, at least, was that there is a significant disconnect between the salespeople, the (outsourced) delivery company, and Jennifer Convertibles, the parent company. I had been concerned that the couch wouldn't fit through my doorway and asked in the showroom if they could take it apart. My salesman told me not to worry, and that my couch came in pieces. When I got home, I freaked out when I saw the fine print, that there was a $199.00 disassembly fee. I was so angry that my salesman hadn't mentioned this when I specifically asked. It's not the kind of information you just leave out. The next day, I called the Jennifer Convertibles line and was told that my particular couch did NOT come in pieces, but rather, without the legs/feet. If that didn't fit through my doorway, then the $199.00 fee would be incurred. Turns out that the couch fit through, so there was no issue. But I was still annoyed that nobody had flagged the additional cost. Pros: good bang for your buck Cons: lack of transparency, uninformed salespeople, delivery fee more

Will never go back- horrible salesman 4/30/2009

What a bad experience!Very Poor customer service! Bad salesman and he was the only one there! .I was interested in purchasing furniture but after reading many horrible delivery reviews I will look elsewhere. Jennifer Convertibles has a horrible reputation for late deliveries and giving customers the run around! Pros: some nice sofas Cons: everything else more

Extremely Rude and Deceptive 6/7/2008

First of all, instead of helping you, the salespeople will sit on their butts and watch videos on the internet. If you do actually find something you want, the salespeople will tell you that they can deliver in one week and charge your credit card. Only after your credit card is charged will they tell you it will be a month before they can have it delivered.\r If you want your money refunded because of the unacceptable delivery date, they won't even do it. They will tell you that it will be two weeks before you can have your money back for something you didn't even purchase.\r I would recommend staying away from this chain. The only reason I didn't give them zero stars is because google has a minimum rating of one star. more
