Loretta DeBrule is my woman in shining armor! I like to change my style more frequently than most and she never hesitates partner with me in creating a dynamic style. I get tons...

I had finally found a fantastic stylist in Tiffany, she really went all out in pleasing you. I plan on following her to her new studio. The one thing that had really bothered me ...

impressive straightening treatment with Jocelyn 1/18/2007

I used to have bendy wavy hair of the uncontrolable kind. It's was also kind of dry, damaged and tangly. I was nervous about having it straightened. I'd seen some bad results on friends of mine. I decided to try the Japenese hair straightening technique that Jocelyn performs at Jaujou Studio. I heard it reconditions your hair and actually makes it healthier. It was a comfortable procedure without any scalp irritation. I didn't beleive the reconditioing was possible, but so far it has been over three months with soft, flexible, silky straight hair. Totally worth the investment. Jocelyn's attention to detail impressive. I didn't realized how much work it was going to be for her while I just sat there comfortably. Plus the environment is fun and relaxing. Hip without being uptight. Daniel, the owner of the salon, recomended Jocelyn to me. Thanks Daniel. Pros: finally a good hair salon by the lake Cons: allow extra time for parking more

Best all around stylist 1/14/2007

Jocelyn has been my stylist for nine years and we have done everything from natural looking blondes and browns to electric pink and I love my hair!!! She is always learning new techniques to use and really makes me feel comfortable with whatever awesome style we decide on! I highly recommend Jocelyn if you are looking for a stylist who keeps up with the times, is edgy and who can make you feel confidant and beautiful with any hair style. Pros: Totally Professional Staff Cons: Parking more

Jocelyn is a cut above 1/6/2007

Jocelyn was a fantastic person to get a haircut/style from. She makes you feel very comfortable with her smile, attentive listening, and relaxed conversational style. She is very interested in hearing what her clients want out of their appointment, and does her best to meet the clients' goals. She gives a fantastic pre-haircut shampoo, with a very soothing scalp massage. \r \r I thought I looked pretty handsome when I walked in there, but boy was I wrong! She made me look hot. I was amazed how much better-looking she made me after my cut. She was very attentive to detail, and I am completely overjoyed with the job she did.\r \r As an added bonus, all of the stylists are incredibly beautiful. Serious eye-candy.\r \r Treat yourself and check out Jaujou Studio. It's a trendy atmosphere, the music rocks, and the employees are really nice. You feel comfortable the moment you walk in the door. Pros: Quality, Class, Atmosphere, Cons: Parking more

Jocelyn makes it happen 1/6/2007

Jocelyn fit me in last minute, and then took the time to get my hair just the way I wanted it...no easy feat. In addition to a fantastic cut and color, I had the best time hanging out with Jocelyn and the other stylists. Their energy and professionalism made for a whole experience, not just a great job. Pros: Quality work, fun place to be Cons: May end up being so much fun you stay more

Jocelyn Rules! 12/30/2006

Jocelyn did my cut and color and it was exactly what I was looking for. I had a hard time finding somone that understood and could do what I wanted, she did and she did it perfect! The salon is super comfortable and everyone was really friendly. I will be back. more

I heart Jocelyn! 11/27/2006

I have been getting my hair cut by Jocelyn for almost a year now and have been very pleased with the results every single time. Even when I am not sure what style I want and let her pick, I still end up loving it! How often does that happen?! (Always with Jocelyn!) She is friendly and professional and makes the effort to get me in whenever my crazy schedule allows. I also love the fact that she's more than willing to trim my bangs, even on short notice. She recently joined Jau Jao Studio, and I am very happy about the move. The salon is clean and the stylists are friendly and fun. Also, its near the Grand Lake theatre and several restaurants, so you can make a day out of it! The walk from the 19th street BART station is a bit far (coming from SF), but on a nice day, its a beautiful and relaxing walk past Lake Merritt. I would highly recommend this salon and especially Jocelyn! Pros: Ambience, Friendly Staff, Clean Cons: A bit far from public transit more

Very Relaxing Salon 11/20/2006

Daniel Jaujou has been taking care of my hair for over 15 years so I was so happy when he opened his salon on Grand Avenue. The atmosphere is great with the music, books, etc, and the location is great.\r All of the other stylists are very cool too. more

Fun, witty, entertaining, and comfortable. The decor is well-done and with taste and pizzaz. 11/20/2006

Daniel rescued me many years ago from a bad haircut. Not only did he salvage the cut, but the color receives raves on virtually a daily basis. He knows how to accentuate my face and give me a fresh look depending on the seasons. I trust him implicitly. \r \r He is a great manager/owner. He maintains a comfortable calm and fun environment no matter what is happening. He has a wonderful laugh and an even better outlook on life's silly moments. He's the best and this business he started sprouted forth from the all the wonderful karma he has extended into this world known as Oakland. \r \r Great product line with Bumble & Bumble - with a staff that actually knows how to best suit them for your particular needs. My hair is softer and silkier between haircuts/processing than ever before.\r \r And Tiffany has gone out of her way to help my daughter figure out the tools she needs to maximize the silkiness for her hair and has personally helped to teach her use the tools. Great community environment!!!\r \r Plenty of snacks and coffee bars within a few feet and tons of reading material, with a lounging sofa and plush chairs. Come on in, take your shoes off, and relax to the never-a-dull-moment atmosphere with the crew at Jaujou's. Even my daughter has been assimilated....(and loving it!) more

Do Yourself a Favor - Go to Jaujou! 11/4/2006

I have been going to Jaujou since it opened and would never go anyplace else! My hair team consists of Daniel (color) and Seth (cut) and I could not be happier with the results. Not only am I getting compliments about my hair (and have been able to make many referrrals) I have a good time while in the saloon. Top it off with hanging out with Frankenstein, and haircuts are now something I look foward to! Pros: It's a fun place to hang out Cons: Nothing more

The perfect salon! 11/2/2006

I have had numerous haircuts over the last 30 years in the Bay Area, and now finally there is a fun and beautiful salon with stylists that are very talented and experienced but not pretentious. Yahoo for Jaujou (hey that rhymes!) My hair -- thick and brittle -- has been managed amazingly well by Seth. His price is totally reasonable -- I believe around $55-$60 -- and he spends a good amount of time with you and doesn't outsource any part of the service to any assistants, like some of the other salons around. Seth is very nice, and doesn't even admonish me when I occasionally trim my hair myself and then ask him to fix it. The owner Daniel is so friendly and always makes you feel very welcome. He has decorated the place in an excellent manner with retro-modern furniture and a smart color scheme. Daniel has a very adorable pug named Frankenstein that is often around doing cute things. Seth has a dog as well, Zoya, who I once met and occasionally stands in when Frankenburger is not around. \r Pros: Not stuffy, talented and nice stylists, beautiful/clean Cons: Hmmmmmmm. more

Great cuts everytime! 10/30/2006

Daniel Jaujou is so great at listening to my specific needs and general whines about my hair that I even sent my mother to him (she's very ""with it"" for a grandmother)! I have been seeing Daniel for over 8 years and I have never walked out of the salon feeling any less than incredible. This is the salon you can confidently visit for a first time and know that you won't be wearing a hat afterwards.\r \r Pros: Frankie, Jaujou's pug mascot, greets me every time! Cons: The fabulous chocolate shop across the street! more

Major props 10/29/2006

to Jaujou. Not only do they know how to do hair at their shop but the people there are super chill. With so many other pretentious hair salons out there these days, it's great to find a place with such an easygoing vibe and very knowledgeable stylists. Tiffany cut my hair and did an excellent job. She is very passionate about her work and also really easy/comfortable to talk to while you're in the chair (nothing like those awkward convos I used to have years ago at Supercuts when I let the legally blind cut my hair). I will definitely be coming back to Jaujou in the future. -Justin Pros: Very skilled stylists, great vibe Cons: Finding parking can be tricky more

I now have amazing hair 10/26/2006

I recently graduated and got a new job and decided to treat myself to a luxery I have never been able to afford. I went through all kinds of reviews for salons and I am so incredibly happy I found Jaujou on citysearch. I decided to go shorter then I ever have, and while I was slightly nervous about it, Tiffany made me feel so at ease. I completely trusted her with such a drastic change because she really knew what she was doing. She took the time to make sure the cut complimented my face, and to thin it a bit so that my curls would really form without being weighted. I'm telling everyone to go and see Tiffany now. She's such a pleasure to talk with, and was even kind enough to run outside and pay my meter for me when I was stuck under the dryer. I have definitly found my salon and stylist. Pros: personal attention, skill, a great haircut more

Put Your Faith in Jaujou 10/20/2006

Daniel has worked his magic my hair for almost ten years now, from when it was waist length, to crew cut, to everything in between. His new space on Grand Ave is stylish but inviting, and calm but cheerful. (If only every afternoon were as peaceful as the ones I've spent sitting in his loft-lounge with foil in my hair...) I especially appreciate the lack of pressure at Jaujou -- I never feel obliged to make small talk if I'm tired, or to buy any products I don't want. I know I'm not the hippest kid on the block, but I still feel welcome at the salon, and have had several women ask me who cuts my hair. Even Frankie, the resident Pug, has silky, sweet-smelling fur. Pros: Talented staff, relaxing ambience, easy freeway access Cons: Parking on Grand is 1 hr. max. so use the public lot or side streets more

The ONLY salon you need to know! 10/18/2006

Gorgeous space, funky tunes, lots of laughter and a layed back vibe. Always a good time and the staff is friendly, never stuffy. Absolute professionals who really know their stuff. I leave every time on cloud nine. I've been going to Daniel for many, many years. I have been stopped on the street and in the grocery store, Who does your hair? I've been delighted to refer Daniel and am so happy to now refer Jaujou Studio. It doesn't matter what I'm wearing or where I'm going, my hair is perfect! Honestly, Jaujou Studio is the ONLY salon you need to know! Pros: Knowledgable staff Cons: None! more

Professional & comfortable environment! 10/10/2006

I spent many hours on citysearch looking for the ""perfect"" salon. I was blessed to have found Jaujou! From setting the appointment to paying the tab, I've never had a better experience. Tiffany was my stylist. I was so fortunate to connect w/ someone who is truly passionate about her work! I had a basic idea of what I wanted, and let Tiffany's artistic skills take care of the rest. She hooked me up w/ an amazing cut! How do I know it was amazing? ..... I had a girl smile at me when walking out of the store that evening - that never happens to me! Tiffany will definitely have you looking your best! I've found the place & the person to go to when I need to get my hair done. \r \r Ps. She's really cute too! Pros: Skilled, professional, friendly staff! Cons: Watch out for the meter maid more

Great hair salon--Jaujou Studio 10/9/2006

Jaujou is a small salon with a casual and comfortable atmosphere. There is no ""attitude"" from the professionals there; just great haircuts and colors. I go to Mele who is the best colorist I've been to (and I've been through quite a few of them) in both San Francisco and the East Bay. \r There is a parking lot with long-term meters across the street and, of course, lots of good places to grab brunch or lunch before or after your appointment. \r The banter among the stylists is fun and the music is good. It's a great place to go and you'll leave looking terrific. more

Best hair salon! 10/9/2006

Daniel is a genius. You won't find anyone who does a better job doing your hair WHILE making you laugh! The salon is comfortable and beautiful. His fellow stylists are talented, fun and super friendly. Frankenstein is the best dog in the world. You will leave feeling like a million bucks--I absolutely guarantee it. You'll be so happy you found Jaujou studio you'll never want to go anywhere else to get your hair done again. Pros: Ambience, Service & skill Cons: None! more

Great stylists! Great atmosphere! 10/6/2006

Jaujou Studio offers a very fun and relaxing environment. Daniel is such a talented stylist!! My hair has never looked better! more

Get Some Style and A Smile! 10/6/2006

I was new to the area and I found Daniel and Jaujou Studio as a walk in when the salon was newly opened. What a lucky find! Daniel creates a cool and welcoming lounge vibe with hip music and great personal attention. My cuts are outstanding and Daniel understands my hair needs as a biracial woman. You must let Jaujou Studio work its magic on you! Pros: Friendly lounge club feel, great personal attention, cool tunes more
