Awful Customer Service 9/27/2010

I love Thai food and this restaurant is at a very convenient location for me. The food is good and spicy (but pricier than it should be) and in the many times I've gone, the customer service ranged from average to poor. That all changed at my last visit. The waitress had trouble understanding our orders, so we ended up pointing to the items on the menu. She got the orders wrong anyway. For example, one order was vegetable Kee Mao and she brought chicken Kee Mao. We tried explaining the situation but she didn't quite understand and so she brought over the manager. This manager was AWFUL. Spoke very loudly, rudely, and eventually offered to remake the orders and have us wait another half hour to be served. We had enough - the manager was so unprofessional and loud that other diners were staring at us. I refuse to go back again. I gave it 2 stars because the food itself is decent, but if anything, get take-out. And make sure they get your order right. more

****WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE**** 7/23/2010

We were a party of 12 that went to have family dinner at the thai restaurant in Hicksville. We ordered the soups as appetizer...they messed up the the simplest order. Our waitress said to let the manager know...the manager took her sweet time to come over and was rude from the beginning. Not only did she raise her voice while speaking to us ( to let other patrons know her business I guess), she tried to speak down to us. We didn't bother ordering the entree, but asked for the bill. Maybe she was having a bad day and decided to take it out on us...when we made a simple request to fix our order. I don't know how she became manager of a restaurant. Its Customer Service 101 to try and find a solution to any situation, and try to accommodate clients that are GIVING Your restaurant BUSINESS!! Apparently she was not aware. So maybe its not her fault thats she's ignorant. Pros: NOTHING Cons: Rude, inconsiderate, have no clue what customer service means more

Good food..bad service 12/22/2009

Be careful what you eat. A small group of went to lunch here. We ordered vegetarian soup. After our order was brought to us, I saw lumps of white stuff and was reassured by the waitress that it was vegetarian soup. I have been a vegetarian for SEVEN years and my aunt has been one ALL her life !!! It ended up being pieces of chicken. I was in tears, and the waitress was called over and took away, She took the item off our bill but still tiped her self 25%. I was so disapointed she didnt even apologize. There was nobody else in the restaurant..it is usually quite dead ..I left my name and number for the owner to call me back..It has been 6 months since the incident, hence my disapproval of the restaurant and their customer service. Cons: Vegetarian was given a Chicken dish more

Very comfortable restaurant 2/27/2007

Recently I've been going to quite a few Thai restaurants in different cities, so I've got many restaurants to compare this one to. Jai Ya is a very good restaurant with excellent friendly service. The atmosphere is a little more elegant than others and the restaurant is quite comfortable. The food is very good but not special. We tried the chopped pork appetizer which was only fair (I don't remember the name but it's pictured on the front inside cover of the menu). The pork satay appetizer was super -- highly recommended. The vegetable salad was ordinary. The Pad Ke Mow (Drunken Noodles) was good, but not special. The Beef PaNang was also good but not special. All in all, a very nice restaurant that we will go back to, but not on my list of best Thai restaurants. Pros: Nice atmosphere, good friendly service, easy parking Cons: Food is good but could be a little better. more
