Sweet then sour 3/2/2012

Nine months to one year ago I would have given Jade Palace at least a four star but my friend and I went there today (may 2nd 2012) and now I have to give it a one star. My friend and I were the only ones there and they are clearly trying to stay afloat. The food was hot but the almond chicken I ordered was dry and not as good as it has been in the past. What really threw me over the edge was when I asked the waitress for a bit of sweet and sour sauce for the egg roll at $2.50 I ordered. She came back with about an ounce of it saying nothing. When I got my bill a $1.50 had been added. I asked why there was extra charge, the woman at the register said it was for the sweet and sour sauce pointing to a small sign next to the register. (there was not sign at the table or on the menu for these many extra charges. At the local Asian market you can buy and large bottle for $2.00) Then she said it was a charge for the gravy for the almond chicken. I find it hard to believe that they would charge 1.50 for sweet and sour or for the topping of the entree when the topping makes it what was ordered. I paid my bill and I will not be back. This may be why my friend and I were the only people there. more

Sorta Good 2/4/2011

I'm in my early 40's and have been going here since my early childhood. The atmosphere is nearly the same since I can remember and the food is too. Stable and good, but never has evovled. It would be nice to see changes to their family meal options. Nothing stands out as being extraordinary, however, not bad! I can expect to pay $80 - $100 for my family of 4. \r \r I feel the need to review this based upon my last experience dining there. I decided to do something different for Christmas Eve and so we dined here. There were 8 of us and they put two tables together and shoved us in a tiny little space. I'm guessing that the table area was about 8' x 3'. We are normal sized people and included were two petite teenage girls. There wasn't elbow room to move, to use the restroom it was easier for the girls to crawl under the table. We were busing our own table, because the food and drinks didn't fit. I saved a few glasses of water from being knocked over. A waitress spilled my mom's glass of tea all over her and she did apologize. My mom just finished chemo and had radiation the day before. She was soaking wet and was given a few napkins. We offered to go to her house and get her another set of clothes to wear, but she said she would be fine. She was shivering. Finally someone brought her a warm hand towel. I have to say that although she was treated hospitable and respectful, it was rather a slap in the face to be told at the end of $300 meal that they comp'ed her the tea. \r \r On a good note or maybe different note, we just ordered food to go tonight (family style). One thing they might not tell you, but you do pay for, is the soup. It took me 2 times before I called them and asked why we didn't get our soup and that's when we were told you have to bring your own container. Not nice. Paying for something you didn't receive. more

What a great find! This is my absolute favorite Chinese Restaurant. The food is outstanding. My favorites are the Mongolian Beef, Salt & Pepper Prawns, and Lemon Chicken..yumm! \r The owners are nice and seem happy to take care of their customers. The waitresses are also very friendly. \r The atmosphere is warm and inviting. \r I also noticed banquet rooms that would be great for meetings/birthday's or any sort of gathering.\r I highly recommend the Jade Palace to anyone wanting the most delicious Chinese food around. more
