JUST WHAT WE WANTED 11/7/2010

My wife and I wanted a secluded, unique, well-appointed B&B in the Alton area for an anniversary weekend and the Jackson House "cave" (don't be misled - you won't feel that you're underground) was exactly what we sought. Great food, special accommodations, comfort, affordability, and private, it was well beyond what it was advertised to be. We would recommend this B&B to anyone who does not require the universe to revolve around him. more

Got what we paid for "Bed" & "Breakfast" nothing more 2/15/2010

I hope that there was a time where these two women liked running a B&B, but they come accross today as if it is a chore they would rather not be doing. The room was nice and well kept. The food was good. But the two women running the place seemed tired and not at all interested in my wife and I. Everything I did seemed to cause conflict for them. I think if you can find a better rate at a nice hotel, you might be just as happy staying there. more

Just okay bed and breakfast 9/10/2005

This is in Alton, right along the Great River Road, so it does have spectacular views nearby. However, the accomodations here are just so-so. It's not the best place to stay in the area but it isn't the worst either. Rooms are decorated in the Victorian style and they are very nice. They do accept pets and older children, so that could be a positive or a negative for you. Food was good and abundant, and the prices are very reasonable for a Bed and Breakfast. So if you can't find anywhere to stay in the area, try this place out. more
