Jack's Restaurant & Deli

I went to Jack's Deli & Restaurant during my lunch hour. I was promptly seated in an enclosed patio near a perverted old man and his wife (her back facing me), and two obnoxiously loud teenage boys. The waitress stated that she would be back in two minutes to take my order. After 10 minutes, and being stared at by Chester the Molester, I ordered my food from the cashier. The waitress returned 5 minutes after that and asked if I was ready to order. I told her that I already ordered from the cashier. When the Fish & Chips FINALLY arrived, the fish was bland and the french fries were below subpar. Then another waitress came over after I was done eating and asked me if everything was okay. I said no, and asked for the bill. I paid and did not leave a tip, and I was late returing to work. They have a sign posted over the cash register, ""We Reserve The Right To Refuse Service To Anyone""...not really...this atmosphere is geared more for the ""trailer trash"" of Thousand Oaks and they most likely gave rave reviews. I reserve the right not to eat here again. My advice - Eat at Brent's Deli. Their food is excellent and their prices are worth the quality and the service. Cons: Terrible Service & Subpar Food more

Jack's , a reasonaby priced deli/diner in Westlake Village, must be going through a cash crunch. The owner has made some questionable moves since his return. The martini used to be a major for draw for many, but during my last visit, the change is obvious. The new martini glasses are 20% smaller and the pour is probably 20-25% less. The price is the same as before but you get less? Very strange business move. At a time when people are looking for value the owner is guilty of poor businness sense. Myself, as well as others I know, will not be going back until the madness ends. I have heard other rumblings about the bloody mary, as well as food items that have mysteriously vanished or simply missing ingedients. TO THE OWNER: THE SHORT TERM 10-15% GAIN WILL BE ECLIPSED BY THE 20% DROP IN PATRONAGE. more

I've been going here for almost 15 years now and I always like it. It still has good burgers, cobb salad, and my favorite clam strips. The kids really like coming here with the old fashioned fans that run off belts. They still have a great beer selection with my favorite Spaten Optimator. This last visit the service was extremely slow. But, the wait staff was friendly once they got to your table. well, i have to say i just do not wish this place on anyone! I say a coakroach on the table next to me and the people got up and left! The service was slow and rude and the kitchen became so overwhelmed with orders that our food took 45 minutes and still came out cold. It needs a clean up bad but i think it will not be around because Brent's has really set a high standard. The greeters did not smile and the booths are ripping and stained. This place was the only game in town for a while, so they decided they didn't need to clean the floor. The deli food is not real deli. It's ok, but not great. The soups are awful; go figure. The breakfasts, especially with a mexican theme are quite yummy. The turkey brugers are the excellent. Service is ok, but the small kitchen gets bogged down during busy times. This place will probalby be gone soon, since Brent's opened across the street. Probably for the best. Still, it has a certain charm that isn't awful. more
