One of the first signs of spring! 2/10/2011

I'll admit some of my family would rather sit in an expensive restaurant, or at least a place with a good wine list, but Jacks is one of my favorite places. They serve the best hotdogs I have ever tasted. They have the right color, the right flavor, and the right taste. I grew up in the area and even as a picky skinny child, would always eat food from Jacks. The place does smell, on a hot day you can smell the onions from Hannaford. That is the only negative thing I could say about the place. As soon as the place opens in the spring it is packed. How could so many people be wrong? Don't let anyone fool you into thinking this is a place one should never try. Sure, don't drive an hour just to eat hotdogs on a bench. That is crazy because this is fast food, but do stop in to eat if it's on your way. It's a cheap quick meal. more

Snobs need not apply 1/10/2010

Snobs will never eat at Jack's. People who love sliders, and all that means, LOVE Jack's. My daughter went to Emma Willard, (uppercrust girls' preparatory), and introduced many, many of her upperclass friends to Jack's and they loved it so much it became their ""must"" destination during the summer. Of course the burgers are greasy, of course the fries are loaded with cheese. THAT'S WHAT A SLIDER PIT IS! The food is delicious, the help is friendly, and anyone who says they aren't must be anti-social himself. Try it. You'll LOVE it. Pros: Great place for summer eating outside Cons: None for what it is more

All Time Classic 5/31/2009

Jack's is an all time classic place to eat. You aren't going to find anything fancy here, it's just burgers, dogs, fries, shakes, onion rings, sodas, etc. The service is fast and it's the kind of greasy burger joint that brings back memories of yesterday. Also, when the weather is nice it's great to just sit out on the benches and take in the summer air. Yes, the burgers are standards sliders with grilled onions, ketchup, and cheese on them so if you expect some kind of gourmet burger then go to Red Robin or something. Me? I'll take a quick cruise on the Harley to Jack's anytime! Pros: Good cheap eats, nice location Cons: Not for the health conscious! more

A real Troy area fixture 9/13/2006

We love Jack's. My mother used to take me there on hot Summer nights. There were car hops then. Summer starts when Jack's opens. I love the burgers, chocolate milk and fries. Pros: Picnic tables, plenty of parking, cute cooks. Cons: Not open year round. more

The point is....... 5/24/2006

The burgers are SUPPOSED to be greasy and loaded with onions and ketchup! That is why they are called ""sliders!"" This is NOT a gourmet hamburger joint---It is a throwback--and a wonderful one at that....My folls used to take me here when they had car hops....The food is slimy and delicious and worth the trip! The cheese fries are awesome and the shakes are the BOMB.... Pros: Sliders, Fries, Shakes more

THE BEST!! 3/23/2006

i've been going here since i was a kid, and it continues to live up to its reputation. they have the best hamburgers, and cheese fries i have ever had. even the hotdogs are great. every year, i look forward to the spring when jack's opens for the summer. i am there the day it opens and very often thereafter. more

Over Rated, Waste of time and money 7/7/2005

I seen this survey before, so I decided to check the place out. What a disappointment. Their burgers are small, greasy and expensive for what you get. They are nothing above an average burger patty off your own home grill, except you pay a lot more. Not recommanded, and customer service was poor, as if you were their bothering them because they had to work. Pros: No line, Open Parking lot Cons: Small burger, Expensive, Greasy more

best drive-in ever. 7/1/2003

Jack's is a local legend, famous for its incredible grease- and onion-laden burgers (they're small, so get a couple). I've been going there since I was about 2. Pros: yummy burgers, not a scary McChain, quick service more
