Horrible customer service! They hardly explain anything. I'm sorry, but if I'm spending over 3k because my central air is broken, I need more than one word answers and descriptions. Just telling me the price of a replacement part or unit will not suffice. I called repeatedly and asked for more details on what exactly needed to be done and what my options were. All they would reply is to either replace the part or the unit. They basically only gave me price quotes with no other explanations. When I asked what are the details of the work, they only replied with "we will replace the unit with a new one." I'm sorry, but that's not enough. I shouldn't have to haggle for answers and descriptions. Plus Sorry Jack Dolan & sons, you just lost a customer. Learn to communicate, and to describe the whole process so that I feel knowledgeable and trusting. I should walk away from this experience knowing exactly what you will do and why. Not just knowing the bill & blindly trusting your work. more

Always Expert and Helpful, Price Reasonable 4/28/2009

I have been using Jack Dolan's services for 25 years, for years as a plumber, and in 2007 they replaced my central air system. Today I called them because I needed additional info about the AC unit. Then, as now, their expertise and help is excellent and I'm about ready to recommend them to a neighbor. As for prices, their quote for the AC unit and installation was not the cheapest, but it was comparable to the 3 other quotes I received. Quality of product, including professional service and followup, is what I've come to expect from Jack Dolan, and is what I always receive. more

Run far run fast 11/8/2008

I am so sorry I didn't read these reviews before I called them. I thought it was odd when I walked into the showroom that all of their letters of "thanks" were before the year 2000. Sadly, I didn't follow my instinct and leave right away. I can't begin to tell you the issues I had with this company. The customer service is awful. I will never use them again. more

Ripoff Plumber 8/25/2008

I had a simple job for them. Leaky kitchen faucet. The "plumber" came, and not only did he put it on backwards, but accidentally left some of his tools here and had to come back. When I complained the faucet was on wrong, he blew me off and said he had another call to go to. I called their main office, where the receptionist was very rude to me, but sent another employee to fix it. He put the faucet on the right way, but it still leaks. I called back and was told that I was probably lying about it. Needless to say, I never called back again and won't use them, even if they're the last plumber in NJ. more

Horrible and Rude 5/10/2007

These people are horrible and rude. \r \r I took time off work to get an estimate from them for a complete Furnace and AC system. Their company rep came to my house but no one ever called me back or provided me with an estimate even after repeatedly calling and leaving messages with staff. One receptionist told me they lost my telephone number. Another told me they were too busy to give me an estimate and then hung up on me while I was still speaking. Before hanging up, she told me the person who came to my house was unavailable because he was out giving an estimate to someone else. He was at my house six weeks earlier and somehow couldn't find the time to give me an estimate even after I called multiple times -- yet he was out looking at another job.\r \r Pathetic. Run away.\r \r Typical type of arrogant contractor that acts as if there is no competition and they are more important than the customer. more

very efficient 8/14/2006

When ever i have needed them, they are quick to answer the phone and quite accomodating in making appointments. They provide appointments which are real appointments...... They work quickly and have always fixed the problems. I would only use them in the future and recommend them to all my friends. more

Good local plumber in a pinch 10/13/2005

I recently had my central air conditioner replaced by Dolan and he did a good job. I was under some pressure to get it done and he did it very fast and was good to work with. However the price wasn't the best and even though I haggled for a better price (which I did get) I still found lower prices later. If it hadn't been a timing thing I might have looked elsewhere.
