There is a cheage for a service call. The service is to diagnose a problem, not to fix it. Lately, I had two service calls.which were both billed. One was for a leaky faucet that needed a cartridge. I watied for them to get a cartridge and come back to fix it. Never happened. When I asked one of the repairmen about it, he said those cartridges were no longer available and I should replace everything, which consist of 2 faucet sets, 1 bidet set, 1 tub set with hose, 1 shower set with diverter, 1 toe tester and 1 hand held shower plus matching towel bars and robe hooks.
The second service call was to do a general service on a furnace . I was told the humidifier was not working and needed to be replaced. Again I waited.
Another call was to fix a dripping faucet in the kitchen. I was told to come to the showroom and pick out a new faucet as that one could not be fixed. I searched the computer and found the Franke faucet I had. It was now $700.
I called Franke and they diagnosed the problem over the phone. I was told to go to a plumbing supply house in Chatham. They had the cartridge in stock and recommended a plumber.
The plumber came out the next day, put the cartridge in and checked the humidifier and said there was nothing wrong with it. The leaky faucet in the master bath was from Jado, however Dill Plumbing was able to get the cartridge and I did not replace thousands of dollars worth of bathroom fittings.
I think Dolan has become a salesroom designed to sell fixtures and fittings and are no longer plumbers. Their motto is "Replace NOT Repair."
