I moved to Newton 9 years ago, had to find a new stylist, and stumbled upon J. Stevens. Jonathan cut my hair that first time, and has done so ever since. My visits are fun and comfortable... good conversation... good sense of humor... he's not afraid to tell you what he thinks, but listens to what you have to say as well. He cares and always makes time for you, when he can. The whole crew is friendly and easy going... you always feel welcome. I have been a client at J Stevens since they opened and would never think of going to another salon. Jonathan has created an environment that is free from the drama and gossip of other places, instead you can expect a flawless cut in a comfortable setting surrounded by friendly, efficient staff. Free parking only adds to the draw. There is never any pressure to buy product and I've never EVER had a late start for an appointment. This salon is a true hidden gem; you will be treated with respect and receive a "Newbury Street" cut without the insane prices you'd expect. my stylist jamie recently relocated from jimi james salon to J.Stevens salon, and i have to say i am so glad i found him. the old salon was trying to get me to try another stylist but i didn't feel comfortable there. Jamie has been doing my hair for a while now and when i found out he had left the old salon, the thought of having to find a new stylist was not something i was looking forward to. the new salon is much nicer and my hair looks great, as usual. the enviornment in the new salon is much more relaxed and professional. i would recommend Jamie to anyone Pros: free parking, great prices, awesome haircolorist Cons: none i can see.... more

My colorist/stylist recently moved shops to J. Stevens Salon and what a great move it was! The salon is cute and homey and the people are SO nice. I feel completely comfortable there and am glad that Jamie (who is an absolutely FABULOUS colorist) has found a salon that's as great as he is.
