Do you want your money taken from you and get a repair you didn't need, then go here! Even after the obvious mistake James made with my truck he flat out refused to listen and blamed ME because my truck wasn't fixed correctly, because I was in a hurry, well who isn't? He also charged me for an upper and lower radiator hose that were never installed. It was VERY obvious they were the old original parts.... Disputed the credit card charge and filed a complaint with the BBB, which by the way they have an F rating with, wish I had checked with the BBB first. This guy is not good enough to have that much pride! more

J and S diesel is a ripoff! I got 15000 miles out of a turbo I purchased from them! My original turbo I got 235000 out of on my 1999 F350! But I was over the 12 month warranty period! \r I should have listened to my diesel friends "" stay away from J and S diesel!"" more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/22/2013

This is, without a doubt, the worst experience I've had with any company that I have ever dealt with in my 44 years of life.\r \r I found this shop based on a Google search and called them at 4pm on a Monday afternoon. James, the guy who took my call, was friendly enough and said I could bring the truck in but that they wouldn't be able to look at it until the next day. I was in no hurry so I said no problem. My request was, simply enough, to replace the fluids in the transmission and rear differentials for my Ford F-350. I delivered the truck at 5pm that afternoon and even though the shop seemed low-rent (a sign on the building says ""Armed Guard on Duty After Hours"") I felt that it would be ok.\r \r At noon the next day, I called the shop to get an idea of how long it was going to take. The woman who answered was borderline rude. She told me that James was the one who was working on my truck and that she would have him call me back. Three hours passed and I hadn't heard from anyone so I called again and asked for James specifically. Nothing could have prepared me for what happened next.\r \r James came on the line and the first thing he said was, ""Are you the one who keeps calling?"" I told him that I called several hours earlier and was told that he would call me back. In a clearly irritated tone, he said, ""You don't need to keep calling here. You were told that I would call you back when I'm done working on your vehicle."" I immediately thought he had me confused with someone else so I said, ""I'm sorry, I only called once.""\r \r ""What kind of vehicle do you have?"" he asked, still obviously very irritated. I told him that it was a Ford F-350. ""You know how many f**king F-350's I have in here? What color is it?"" I couldn't believe he just used the ""F"" word out of the blue so I said, ""Excuse me?!"" ""Hold on!"" he barked, and then he put me on hold. A moment later he came back and said, ""Yeah, you're the one who keeps calling here--YOU DON'T NEED TO TALK TO ME UNTIL I CALL YOU AND TELL YOU YOUR F**KING TRUCK IS READY, YOU GOT THAT?"" I couldn't believe this guy was talking to me like this. ""Hold on!"" I protested. ""NO, YOU HOLD ON"" he said. ""YOU F**KING PEOPLE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT'S LIKE RUNNING A SHOP LIKE THIS. DON'T CALL HERE AGAIN. I WILL CALL YOU WHEN YOUR F**KING TRUCK IS DONE,"" and he hung up.\r \r I immediately jumped into my wife's car and took her with me (to prevent me from murdering the fool) and we were standing in their shop in less than a half hour. The frumpy, rude woman who acts as office manager/secretary said she heard James' conversation with me earlier yet she squarely placed blame on me for ""calling repeatedly"". She said they are a really busy shop and every time they get a call, the interruption slows them down.\r \r By this time I was ready to put my boot on someone's neck. Unfortunately, James, who knew I was there and mad as hell, hid like a cockroach in the shadows. In the 45 minutes we were there, he never showed his face once. I was so torqued off, I had to take a walk to cool off.\r \r When they finally brought my truck out, my wife paid the (excessive) bill of $502 for replacing the fluids in the tranny and rear differentials. I can't speak for the quality of work, but it doesn't matter; nobody should be treated with such contempt, much less a paying customer. I don't care if James was having his period or if it was just a bad day, there is no excuse for that kind of behavior. I kept saying to myself later, ""Man, this guy is lucky I handled the situation like a grown-up; I know a lot of guys who would have gone in there and split that guy's wig wide open for that kind of disrespect.\r \r I understand James is the owner of this shop and that they've been in business for quite some time as it's been passed down in the family. As hard as it is for me to believe their doors are still open, if I can prevent one person from patronizing this pathetic excuse for a business, then I've done my civic duty. more

What a rip off, BEWARE OF JAMES, the owner claims that he is honest and knowledgeable with what he is doing but I beg to differ. Here is why, in early March of 2012 I took my truck to J and S diesel I had heard the commercial on the radio on 97.1 the point, and it sounded like a good repair shop, So I agreed to pay James a total of $800.00 to rebuild and reinstall my turbo on my great running well maintained 2000 Ford 7.3. With 70,000 pampered miles. I decided to rebuild the turbo because the turbo was leaking oil into the inter cooler, Now being October James has rebuilt the turbo 5 times and still cannot get it right being it either makes loud bad grinding noises, or it leaks oil into the inter cooler like it did when I brought it to James. The truck was down for a total of over 6 weeks total being repaired, and after the sixth turbo failure in 3 months, now somehow being I'm in the turbo alone over $2000.00 in rebuilds, I asked James if he would issue me a partial refund on the cost of the rebuilds, he told me, no that the turbo was still under warranty. The problem is every time I have returned my truck for its so called free warranty not only is it down for 1 to 3 weeks at a time, but James has charged me an additional $6,100.00 in so called needed repairs he says is causing so called turbo failure. that' s not including $1200 on top of the original $800 initially quoted price for fixing the turbo 5 times over the last 4 months, he has been lying to me telling me my 7.3 power stroke with 70,000 truck has other things wrong with it causing the turbo to fail, which he supposedly the $6,100.00 has repaired all issues at my expense while after the so called repairs the turbo?s wont last longer than a week at a time, and to make it even worse experience I have caught James in many lies over the last few months which he denies to this day. He lied and charged me $80.00 for a new air filter which he never changed, plus he lied and told me he changed my fuel filter which he did not, also he stole parts from my truck my A/C caps are now missing and I am now missing my plastic engine cover that said power stroke on it. He is so unbelievable; his Sister working behind the counter is also a lair. I was promised a perfect functional turbo for the initial price of around $800.00 with labor back in March; I have now paid James in excess of $$8,100 total. I have the same problem it did back in March before I ever spend a dime. Whenever I talk to James his answer is always bring it in, and I will take good care of you don't you worry as he throws me another bill. This man is a very poor business man, do yourself a favor and take your vehicle else ware as I now will that I learned the hard way. I only took the time to type this to let you know as you could be next. I will now order another turbo from a highly rated re-builder. more

Horrible costumer service to a Military Veteren! 4/27/2012

We knew exactly what we wanted. They had tried to lecture us, and lead us into a direction of spending thousands more than we needed. They were very deceitful and unprofessional. We were disrespected, and talked to as if we were some punk kids. All I can say is lesson learned. My buddies and I will not be going there and if I were you... I'd stay away. We did find another shop that we do reccomend, and was everything we were looking for and more. Underground Diesel Performance (702) 737-7333 Respectfully, L. Boyles UDT/SEAL more

SCAMMERS, LIARS and RIP OFF ARTISTS!! 11/21/2011

CLaim to charge ""wholesale"" for parts. Tried to charge me $75 each for 2 shocks for my truck, ordered them from McCandless International. After I tired of their lies and took my truck directly to McCandless for the repair, I was only charged $60 per shock from McCandless! So much for ""wholesale pricing!"" Also lied to me about the amount of days the repair would take. Promised 3-5 day wait for parts, which turned into 11 days! Promised to fix truck the morning parts came in, then when I showed up right when they opened they said I had to leave the truck there all day. Finally, the woman at the counter could not have been any more rude or stupid. Her attitude was like ""who cares?"" Honey---a bit of advice for ya. Someone who looks like you do needs to be EXTRA nice to people. This place is horrible and will be out of business soon. more

Best Diesel Guys In Vegas 9/16/2011

This is the best Diesel shop in Vegas...HANDS DOWN! I have a small fleet of vehicles (15) and have found it almost impossible to find good mechanics that charge a fair price and fix the problem at hand. J&S does both and James is practical, honest and charges a very fair price for excellent work. Our diesel has been in three times over the last year and a half for regular work and regular maintenance and we have always been very happy and never surprised. Thanks J&S. more

Great!!!!!!!! 2/2/2011

J & S Diesel is Great! Ive taken my International Diesel Truck to Kenworth and Mccandles and didnt like the work that was done and also they charge a lot. J & S has great people working for them, who know what they are doing, and can also explain everything to you, even if you don't know anything about mechanics they will explain so you can understand. Every time I go there they remember me, and treat me very good. When I'm in a rush they tell me they understand that Im a working class guy and the longer it takes the more it hurts my company and they get to fixing my problems quickly. I only trust my Truck at this company. They never over sell me either when other places told me I have all these problems I take it to J & S and they always say no, its only this not that. Do yourself a favor and save time and money. Go to J & S Diesel!!!! more

saved me a ton of money 12/14/2008

I took my 01 f-350 to the dealer for a check engine light on and a misfire. They said I needed 8 injectors to start but would probably need more work. The truck only has 103000 miles on it, so I decided to get a 2nd opinion. I took the truck to J&S Diesel and talked to James. He was very informative and very willing to explain in detail how my truck worked and some of the possible problems I could have. They called me the next day and said I had a bad valve cover gasket causing my misfire and check engine light. Needless to say I was surprised to here that was all I needed. I asked James to change my oil and fuel filter and give the truck a once over. When I got my truck back it ran like it always did and didn't break my wallet. I will always take my truck back to J&S Diesel Service and highly recomend them. Pros: honesty, I know more about my truck now after talking to James. Cons: can't come up with one right now. more
