J Alexander's Restaurants

I just went to J Alexander's with my sister for lunch. Its interior is reminiscent of a church with brick arches and a wood beamed ceiling. I had a very good, reasonable pinot noir (as a treat). Our appetizer was a special not on the menu. It consisted of warm, well-seasoned crispy tortilla chips and freshly made, chunky guacamole and a salsa that tasted like a cross between gazpacho and cocktail sauce. I also had the Ahi Tuna salad. There was a nice mixture of greens and cabbage in a large pile and a side of barely grilled rare tuna. It was very tasty. I was a little nervous about the wasabi vinaigrette since I'm not a fan of wasabi, but it was delicious. The restaurant was busy and a little loud but had no music playing. The service was excellent and the food terrific. It was a little pricey but great as a special occasion or treat. more

J Alexanders is an upscale dressy restaurant that offers really excellent steak, seafood, and other entrées. They have an extensive wine selection, and very good cocktails. Their steak is fantastic, and the seafood is perfectly cooked. We come for special occasions, as it is rather expensive. The service is perfect. I have only two complaints...the cigar smoking at the bar occasionally leaches into the restaurant area, and the desserts aren't on par with the entrées and appetizers. All in all, it is a great place for a special night out, and very convenient to seeing a movie at the Marcus Cinemas. more
