A true izakaya place! They have an extensive dinner menu, and bento box lunch specials. The real treat here, though, is the specials menu written in chalk (in English and Japanese) that spans the length of the restaurant. Everything is authentic and made here. They even import water from Japan to prepare the hiyayakko (tofu appetizer). They have incredible attention to detail. A meal here does not need to be expensive- pick and choose from the specials, perfectly portioned for two. From the moment you enter, with a hearty "welcome" from the proprietor, you are in for a unique experience for South Florida. more

It always stuns me that people are filling the Sushi Maki on the corner, when literally 100 yards away there is one of the best sushi restaurants in creation. I lived 3 years in Taiwan and had access to amazing sushi. Sushin is one of the very few restaurants that is on par with my experiences in Asia. \r \r If you are concerned about price, check out their insane lunch special. $9 and you get your a bento box filled with choice of sashimi, sushi, teriyaki chicken, veggies, plus vegetable and shrimp tempura, ginger salad--one of the best you've ever had, cali roll, AND miso soup. So good. I used to eat there every day when I worked in the Gables. Never disappointed once.\r \r Check it out! more

A friend recommended this restaurant to me and we went there for lunch today with a large group. We showed up with more people than we had made reservations for but they happily accommodated us. First off they brought a basket of hot towels for our hands, which was a nice gesture and I hear is traditional in Japan.\r \r We ordered a variety of appetizers, lunch specials, sushi rolls, and drinks. Everyone loved the food! Fish tasted super fresh, vegetables were perfectly cooked, meat and rice dishes got rave reviews as well. A few people requested forks (they only have chopsticks on the table) and our servers were very attentive and prompt. They got all the orders right and provided separate checks for everyone, as requested. Rare to find such efficient and friendly service in Miami.\r \r My Japanese friend loved the place and is already excited to go back again. Will try more appetizers next time, there were so many interesting choices. more

While the prices may be above some people's comfort zone, the quality easily makes the price WAY more than reasonable. The daily specials are always worth a try and the sushi is unbelievably fresh. \r If you haven't been to this gem in Coral Gables, please do yourself a favor and visit soon. Well worth the trip and well worth the costs. more

Hole-in-the-wall ambiance, but excellent sushi -- especially for the price. A myriad of fun, tasty little dishes. more

A hidden gem in Coral Gables. At last a place that serves Japanese food the way we can identify it as authentic. We have yet to have a dish we didn't like. Great service. Most obliging to modifying your order to suit your preference. So go ahead and leave that squid out in your next nigiri set order. Food is reasonably priced and we see value in it. more

I eat lunch here at least once a month as they truly have the best sushi in Coral Gables. Upon walking in you are greeted by a loud booming voice behind the sushi bar yelling "HeyHowAreYou," and promptly pointed towards open seats or the sushi bar. Service is attentive, quick, and lunch specials are very reasonably priced. It does get busy so I recommend going early during lunch (12-12:15) to secure a table. more

Spare and functional, just like a real Tokyo sushi bar. This spot is a favorite of visiting Japanese businessmen, who can almost always be found occupying a table or two....
