Isono Japanese Restaurant

My husband and I have been going to Isono for five years. We were curious but still a little nervous about trying sushi, but a friend turned us onto this place. No regrets. We have never had a less-than-stellar experience. We're always greeted with smiles, the staff provides nothing but spot-on service and the food is indescribable. They are actually familiar with us because we go stop by for dinner here and there, and sometimes before they bring our appetizers they serve us a sample of a new dish they're trying out, complements of the chef. Can't beat that. Not to mention, they have a pretty interesting menu and seem to add new rolls frequently. I just love Isono. I recommend anyone to give them a shot. i went there on a wednesday night with my friends and it was just great! wait staff was so friendly and nice and the food was the best i've had in many years. three of us ordered couple of special appetizers and rolls and all of them taste so fresh and different. Isono ahd so many items that I never seen and tried. the rolls we tried were so good my mouth waters just thinking about them. my advise, if you haven't tried out this place, just go! you won't regret it. it's simply great sushi!! if you like sushi and if you really want to try sushi that's going to take you to the NEXT LEVEL, then go to Isono and tell them to bring whatever the chef recomends. Believe me, you won't be disappointed. I have been going to Isono for about a year now and they still haven't proven me wrong. I don't even look at the menu anymore and every single time chef David knocks it out of the ball-park. He makes these crazy stuff I have never even heard of and the manager (you r the best) he's so~cute, gives me lessons on the culture and the food. So I live in Floral Park and Torigo is my usual sushi hut.. they have great apps and rolls. For a change, I decided to try Isono just because I thought I should give Isono a chance. I called to order for a pick up order on a Wednesday night. My first call went unanswered and went to fax, I looked at the menu to make sure they weren't closed. I tried again and after 6 rings a woman picked up, took my order and told me it would be a long time- 20 minutes. I ordered Miso Soup and the Martian Roll (I was eating alone). Since I was really hungry and thought they wouldn't be busy, I was a little taken back by 20 minutes. But anyway, so I gave them about 18 minutes and headed down the street to pick up my order. i normally go in to the city for good sushi, but my friend took me to this little godsend of a restaurant and I'm in love. they do such a good job of making everything beautiful and they are so so good. you have to try theie tataki dishes and whatever they recomend. If you live around Floral Park, You have to try this place and if you live far, you still should try this heavenly japanese restaurant..Isono Rocks!!! Pros: everything Cons: parking more

this old little restaurant blew me away with dishes I never even heard of. Chef David's sushi tower and his tiradito were my favorite. the food is amazing and the service is great. they have nice cozy booths and traditional decor. they say the restaurant has been there for more than 30 years. I tell you, they know there stuff. You Must Try!!!!!!!!! Pros: nice and cozy Cons: old place more
