Editorial review from Citysearch 11/15/2013

Hard to believe what happened to the person with the cat, as over the last 10 years, I've had 2 cats and 2 dogs euthanized at Minter Creek. Each time, I was shown nothing but kindness and compassion. Both dogs were very large, and each time, I was met in the back by a vet tech who administered a tranquilizer to my dog in the car, and I sat with them until it took effect and then the vet tech or Dr. Jeff carried my dog inside to save me and my dog stress and trauma. I have always gotten a ""condolences"" card and given time to pay the bill. Dr. Irwin is extremely kind, caring and sensitive, as are most of his staff. more

Dr. Irwin is awesome 3/16/2012

I have taken pets to Dr. Irwin for probably close to 25 years now. He is a wonderful, caring doctor. He worked with me when I had a really, really sick cat & not a lot of money. He is like a guardian angel for the animals. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I have read his reviews and I know others agree with me. I do know what was said about a staff member whos true calling should have been a sanitation worker...at least that would justify her behaviour at times. She's not always completely offensive....that being said, Dr. Irwin is definitely worth his weight in gold and I would say to look past any temporary obstacle to get to him...He knows what he's doing and is very caring and kind to animals. Thank you Dr. Irwin!! more

Too Busy to Help 12/26/2011

The first couple of times I took my dogs there for misc reasons I thought I had found a good vet but then there came a time when I really needed them and they weren't there to help. Very disappointed and the front office staff should probably work for public service department some place that doesn't require customer service. Dr. Irwin, you just lost six little patients. more

I Love this Vet! 11/15/2011

These people have the biggest hearts for animals! Dr Irwin is very helpful and knowledgable and his staff is very sweet and caring as well. I'm so thankfull I found this place! more

Sensitivity 5/14/2011

I have been going to Minter Vet for about 20+ years now and have never experienced a more sensitive and caring group of people! A couple of years ago I had to have my wonderful dog put down due to cancer and soon I will be facing the same nightmare with my beloved cat-the sweetist creature God ever created! Being a nurse I am not overly used to doctors with patience and feelings but Dr.Irwin is the best- and also very knowledgable. He explains things and options so they are easy to understand and does not try to get you to hurry off the phone or out the door...hard to do when things are busy! His staff are the same way and I really am so grateful for all of them! It broke my heart to read the review from that poor person and her cat who were so unspeakably abused by that staff member...no wonder no-one else seems to remember her -she was probably ""CATapulted"" out of there on her a__ when her true colors revealed themselves! Thank-you again so much everybody for all you do!!! more

The best Vet! 11/29/2010

We just love Dr. Irwin, but we call him Dr. Jeff. He and his staff have seen us through so many of the awful things pet lovers have to endure. Our German Shepherd Dog was diagnosed by Dr. Jeff with and untreatable cancerous bone tumor on his leg. Dr. Jeff was sympathetic and very honest about our treatment options. When our GSD succumbed to the disease 2 years later, Dr Jeff and his staff helped us through the ordeal of euthanasia with great compassion and understanding. One time we accidently put dog flea drops on our three cats. It was awful and we had to take them to a 24hr emergency vet hospital in another city. The next day we took them to see Dr. Jeff. He recommended that we take the cats back to the hospital because they required 24hr monitoring and care. We couldn't afford that. So instead Dr. Jeff showed me how to take their temperature and since I work in the Human Medical Field he gave me the necessary IVs and Saline Solutions. He told me exactly what to look for and what to expect. I so respect him for that. My sons and I took 4hr shifts and monitored our beloved cats 24hrs a day for a week. They all survived! Thank you Dr. Jeff!!! more

First rate veterinary care! 2/17/2010

Dr. Irwin has cared for several of my dogs and cats for many years, always with sensitivity and the ability to use good judgment in arriving at a diagnosis and treatment. I have also found his staff to be courteous and kind (the one poor review I saw must have been the result of a staff member I never met -- it's not in character with those I know). Whether dealing with a frightened puppy or a very sick and dying animal (dog or cat), his staff have been gentle, understanding and professional. Pros: Caring and knowledgable Cons: not open on Saturdays at this time more

Excellent veterinary care, great staff 2/6/2008

We have been taking our pets to Minter Veterinary Clinic for over 15 years now. We have always received thorough and caring treatment from Dr Irwin and his staff. Whether it has been for well puppy shots, spay and neutering, or a sick or dying pet, our experience has always been the best. Even if it has been an emergency, we know our animals are in the best hands. We brought our chihuahua in, and thought she was paralyzed possibly from a car accident, because she could not move. It turned out she had a seizure and her liver enzymes were elevated, maybe from ingesting too much horse manure. Dr Irwin did toxicology tests on her and put her on a prescription that was only available in two pharmacies in the county, but it was what she needed. He saved her life. He always explains things to us in terms we understand, and his staff treats our pets as their own, talking to them and calling them by name, as they work on them.\r If I call up with a question, they are ready with insightful suggestions and possible treatment options. I would not take my pets anywhere else. They treat us like family. Pros: Very friendly atmosphere, complete care for our pets. more

Not sympathetic enough to sick animals 12/3/2007

I deeply regret taking my pet to this vet clinic. I took my cat to this vet hospital when it was extremely ill and on the verge of death with cancer to be humanely put out of its misery. Forever will the experience of my pets last moments stick with me. My cat was like a child to me and I should not have had to explain myself to them. They seemed very impatient and just matter of factly wanted to get it over with. One person in particular was rude and made me feel like I was bothering her because I asked a few questions before the procedure. They were rough with my dear cat at his dieing moments. One worker grabbed my cat who was so ill that he wouldn't move at all so roughly by the back of the neck before administering a tranquilizer that he cried out in pain . It was unnecessary to grab him so harshly and without even a word or some petting to him before hand. It wasn't the shot that hurt him it was the way he was just grabbed. \r When I questioned what was going on I was so surprised to be spoken to rudely. The worker snapped that would of gotten bit had they not handled him that way but it is their job to be nice to animals there and I know for a fact no one would of gotten bitten. It hurt so deeply to see him being handled like a nuisance during his last breaths and the last thing I wanted to bring him was more pain. I am not complaining about the tranquilzer shot they decided to give him before administering the euthanasia shot. Maybe the worker has done a thousand euthanasias and no longer has any feeling for the pets or their owners but if that is the case this clinic will continue to lose customers and it will affect their profit and maybe then they will change the way they treat their customers and pets. When I asked if my pets dead body would be treated with respect I was told I don't know I don't work where we send them. It wasn't comforting. Pros: Lots of parking Cons: insensitive staff more
