Fantastic vindaloo! 8/3/2005

This was my initial visit and I was very impressed. I have been to Indian restaurants in a lot of cities, and this is one of the best. The samosas were well-spiced and excellent. The mulligatawny was piping hot and not as spicy as I would have liked it. The lamb vindaloo, however, was exactly as I asked - extra hot! And boy, they weren't afaid to pour on the heat! I was sweating like crazy! That's just the way I like it, though! The portions were adequate, especially when you get rice and naan as well. And the naan was very good and had that freshly baked quality. The service was very good as well, and they kept the children in our party happy with balloons. I am very picky about Indian restaurants, so I was more than pleased when I asked if they could make the vindaloo a little less hot for my non-Indian company, and the waiter responded that they could not because it would not be vindaloo. The food is flavorful and the staff is courteous and attentive. Great place to bring friends or host a group. Pros: Great lunch buffet Cons: Not too much parking more

Wonderful Food 8/23/2004

I ate here on 8/24/04 and this was my first experience with Indian food. I was very impressed by the very nice wait staff who explained everything very well and who were very friendly. The food I had was EXTREMELY hot so the fact that water was brought by often was very nice. It was a very romantic atmophere and I enjoyed eating here very much. I will be back again and encourage you to give it a shot! Pros: Some HOT Dishes, Courteous Wait Staff, Good Prices more

Wonderful Food 8/23/2004

I ate here on 8/24/04 and this was my first experience with Indian food. I was very impressed by the very nice wait staff who explained everything very well and who were very friendly. The food I had was EXTREMELY hot so the fact that water was brought by often was very nice. It was a very romantic atmophere and I enjoyed eating here very much. BEST place in town by FAR! A MUST try!! 12/8/2002

I have been a native Houstonian for years, and not a single place in town compares to the mystique of this place. The service is exceptional, the food is wonderful (esp the chaat corner on the weekends), and the decorations are authentic and beautiful. This place has fairly won the attention from its competitors - it is a must try. trust me and visit, you will not be disappointed. I had been to India multiple times. Most of the Indian restaurant lacks in service area. When I went there for the first time I was really surpised to see the quality of the service. Most of all, the owner of the restaurant seems to be a gentle person, unlike one other very famous (?) hiughly advertised restarant where all the waiters are relatives of owner and owner keep on chatting loudly about family talks in Hindi, here everyone seems to be thorugh professional. If you are in the booth area, service is the best. WHen it comes to food, the food is of excellent quality. Being a vegetarian, in general I like their Punjabi Samosa and DUm Aloo the most. Also somehow they don't have Dall Makhani in menu list, but if you ask for it, they deliver it. And it is really good. Summary- Must try Pros: Service, Food, Owner Cons: None more

this restaurant has it all. the food is spectacular and even more so when ordering off the menu. the staff is wonderful and you'll never have to wait to be seated, although i can't understand why considering how good it is. location is also a plus!
