I have been seeing Nancy for over 20 years and I am always pleased with my results and the care and time she takes to create my look. Plus I have the massage with the shampoo is divine!!! more

Just got home from another amazing haircut with Nancy. I have been coming to In Color since they opened and have loved it-- And I'm picky!! I've tried several different stylists over the years and have always been very happy with the work. But, I always come back to Nancy :) She is great at having vision for what will work with my hair texture, shape of face, lifestyle, etc... I sit down and let her do her thing and I am always impressed. Love their product lines too--Kerastase, Bumble & Bumble, Goldwell, etc... The salon is top-notched! more

I've been going to In Color Salon for over 6 years now & this salon is the best I have EVER found! The salon is owned by Nancy & her husband & they make you feel like family AND Nancy (with her genius work in color) can make you walk out feeling like a million bucks!! Nancy is the only colorist who has EVER done what I asked for with color. I love being unique & she is the only stylist who has EVER repeatedly produced the exact results I hoped for. She is an effective listener during the consultation process & then uses her years of experience to produce exceptionally fantastic results! Over the years, she has changed her schedule to accommodate my scheduling needs, stated late to finish my very complicated coloring needs & has always been spectacular to work with. I am bewildered by anyone who wouldn't find this salon experience anything but wonderful! I even was served Mimosas for free one time! (shhh, I was spoiled rotten & I LOVED IT!!!) more

What lifesavers they are here! After my usual salon screwed up my appointment for a much needed cut/color & I was left hanging, I called here and got in the next day! Beautiful salon with exceptional customer service. Parking is tricky -as noted before- but only for the first time. My hair is AWESOME and so soft and silky and I LOVE the color! It doesn't look like I have my hair colored which as Aleta (sorry if I misspell your name, darlin', I will learn as I will be back!) said she aims to do. I was very specific about what I wanted and expected and it was respected and discussed with me before any work was done by Aleta. I am very very happy I found this great salon and feel you can't go wrong coming here. I like the availability of an electronic payment verses writing a check or cash. Oh, and excellent music too! I would not wish this salon experience on my worst enemy! My hair is destroyed and I paid over 550$ for it. I would never let anyone in that salon touch my hair again. Do your self a HUGE favor and DO NOT get your hair done here. Here is a super short NICE version of what happened to me: They stylist was lifting color from my hair and applied it in foils and was slicing it. The way that she applied the lifting agent was completely disastrous. I have hot roots, orange and yellow hair and huge stops that she missed. She laughed it off as if it were funny and said ""oops"". SO unprofessional!!! Every time I was quoted a price, it would jump up from the time I got my purse to the time I got my card out. These people have no clue how to run a successful business. My hair looks as if my 12 year old nephew tried to do a at home bleach on me!!!! If I had the option I would give it a ZERO star rating and tell you to run away. more

Worst experience ever. Hands down. I took my girlfriend there because she wanted to change her hair color. She was going from red back to blond. The experience started with her being quoted a price of around 150 dollars for the procedure from the stylist. Somehow by the time she got to the counter it had jumped to 210 dollars. That was fine with me, I was prepared to pay it. The problem was her hair was no where near finished, it was barely even altered. I understood that we would have to come back. Again the stylist quoted her a price and magically the price jumped up again when I went to pay. The issue was the hair still was not finished, in fact it looked orange and fried. They knew full well that she could not go out like that, it looked un natural and painful. My girlfriend was in tears. They charged me another 200 dollars and said to come back next week and they would fix it.... begrudgingly I took her back the following week and again the stylist quoted her a price that was not accurate when it came time to pay. Her hair still looks like a cross between red and blonde. There are streaks of orange , hot roots, spots, you name it. She was devastated. The stylist was unprofessional and told my girlfriend that the owners were ""being shady"" and offered to come to our home to ""finish it"". All around it was a horrible experience that ended up costing me 600 dollars to see my girlfriend cry. It just turned into this huge awkward thing. My girlfriend received a call from the owner after reading our reviews on another site and offered to fix it for free. We agreed and even offered to remove our reviews if they fixed it. We went back for another session and 4 or 5 hours later her hair was still not finished. We were going to give them a chance and go back till it was done, but they called and said the original stylist who had ruined her hair and behaved so oddly would be there, we specifically had asked that they scheduled us so we would not have to be around her........ awkward....I specifically asked that they schedule us when she was not working.... In the end my girlfriend went to another stylist who managed to fix EVERYTHING in 2 hours and made her hair beautiful, natural and soft for a fraction of what I paid to In Color. The bottom line is that while the owners may not have been at fault for what the stylist did, ultimately I feel that they are responsible for who they hire and how they allow them to do business. I appreciate that they offered to ""fix it"" but still feel that I spent too much money for results that were unacceptable. As a guy I don't know much about female hair cuts and coloring etc, What I know as this experience was bad for my girlfriend, her hair and my wallet. **Edit I altered this review to reflect the fact they offered to ""fix"" the hair. I feel it is fair to mention that. As to the claims that I am another stylist or this is a false review... I can assure you, I am just a guy who had to try and fix it after my girlfriends hair got destroyed and my wallet got drained. more

I have been getting my hair cut here for several years, as have my daughters. They also have gotten highlights and extreme colors here. Every time we've left either with exactly what we wanted or an appointment for a fix if necessary. They offer free bang trims between cuts anytime you can swing by, and are very helpful. They have great customer service and personalities. The salon is welcoming and sunlit. They offer you a beverage and take care of your belongings so they don't end up full of hair. They do take their time to make sure you have the right cut/color, so sometimes we're not done by the time I think we will be, but that's okay by me. Take however much time you need! They are NOT cheap, but you get what you pay for in this world. If you want a quality cut and color, you can't expect ""Perfect Look"" prices. My only complaint would be the prices of hair products and the sales push on them, but they are fine if you say no thanks, and I'm sure much of the pricing is just that the products aren't cheap for them either. As far as itchy123 and Jennifer, I'm pretty shocked by that recount, but I don't think Jennifer is there anymore either. I haven't seen her at all in January or February, and between my daughters and I, I've been in there 4 times so far this year. I'd say that experience was an anomaly, not anything like normal. And no, I'm not a ""friend"" of the salon writing up a pretend review as suggested by the lovely lady; I'm a real customer who has her pick of places in the area to go for beauty services, and i choose here! more

I have a friend that has been getting her hair done at In Color Salon since they opened and she has bugged me to get my hair cut there for a long time. I read the review by itchy123 and was shocked by her response. I went anyway and I was completely happy. The folks are nice and very professional. I liked my haircut a lot and I plan on going back there for as long as I live in this area. more

I've been a satisfied client of In Color Salon for 7 years and have never considered going elsewhere. I was new to Portland and after trying several other hair stylist a friend referred me to Nancy, this was before she opened In Color. She works her magic on my hair! I don't know how she does it my hair is very fine with zero body or curl. It's my observation that all the stylist are well educated and trained in precision cut, style, hair treatment and color. They use and carry superior product lines including Bumble and Bumble (I love the de Mode working hairspray); Gold Line; and Kerastase (I recently started using their Baion Substantif shampoo...great product). The staff is friendly and, accommodating. The salon is small and inviting with pleasant music and large windows for sunlight. I always look forward to my appointments, I consider it my time to relax. I have referred several friends and they have referred friends. Even the thought of ever having to look for another stylist makes me uneasy. more

I have been going to In Color Salon for at least 2 years. Initially Audra ( the owner's daughter) did my cut and highlights, and I was very happy. Then I would schedule with Audra 2 months in advance, but I would be called by her Dad the day before my appointment and be told that she was on medical leave. After this happened to me twice, I finally switched to Jennifer. Jennifer has done my hair for the last year. Things started out well, but 6 months in my hair was over processed and the golden highlights I wanted were becoming paler. The condition of my hair suffered, and I was almost all blonde. I asked her 6 months ago to add low lights, and not bleach the highlights to that weird pale blonde stage,and she did, but I still looked all blonde with 2 1/2 inches of med. brown roots with some highlights. My hair was becoming so tangled that I had to cut some knots out after working on them with conditioner for an hour. Two days ago I went in with a plan for a change. I brought a picture of a girl with golden brown hair with golden blonde highlights. This is what I want. No problem was Jennifer's attitude. We have this new Loreal hair color that is amazing, and it will leave your hair sooo soft. A few foils and color later my hair previously blonde hair was a grey hued mess and the roots were red brassy brown blonde. The permanent color had lifted the color from my roots and deposited on my hair in a strange fashion. She dried my hair and would have let me leave like that, but I told her I hated it. She then added a semi-permanent color to fix it and the whole mess turned brown mauve!! It looked great with my purple shirt! Not a color found in nature, for sure. Nobody could stay to fix the mauve, so I had to return the next day for repairs. Jennifer removed the color to an orangish color. I told her that I do not want to be red I want to be golden ( as I had reiterated since day 1). She assured me that was what I would get, but I really didn't believe it at this point. Well I was right. My hair is now dark old copper penny red/brown with slightly brighter red/brown roots and bangs. Jennifer assured me that this was what I wanted, and she and another stylist held the picture up and said yep that's it. You have GOT to be kidding! I told Jennifer that I would respect her more if she just said ""yes it's red"". She said yes it's red. But that is what you get, I'm done. I told her I do not want red hair, and my guy doesn't like it. She said ""If your guy doesn't like your hair red, he doesn't love you"". A nice explicative followed from me. They forced me to pay $200 for services. I said that I would pay for the cut, but not the color. The owner's son told me she worked on me for 2 days, that the color was very nice now and very nice mauve, then he added if you do not pay we will be forced to take ""other action"" (read collection agency). Through out all of this Jennifer was as cool as an ice princess telling me that my fine hair was to blame, or that she thought the mauve and the copper penny look very nice. She had a tough time accepting any blame, and she never once said that she was sorry. The best she could manage was, this didn't turn out like she would have hoped after I forced her to tell the truth. She told me as she looked at the picture I'd brought that I could never get that color from the beginning anyway. I told her that she should have told me that up front. I started out nice in this process, but I will admit that I became more and more angry, and more and more vocal.Then when I was threated with a collection agency, I paid and told him screw you, but much stronger. Now I will have to see what weird color appears as the semipermanent copper penny fades and my color removed orange blonde hair reappears. I know that previously lightened hair will fade when colored and that it is a process, but this was too much. What a mess. Of course, I would never recommend this salon. more

After driving to NW 23 for years and struggling with parking and putting up with stylist 'tude, I searched long and hard for something closer to home in Lake Oswego (this salon is in nearby Tualatin). I am a bit of a product snob and wanted a salon that uses Goldwell color. I found In Color Salon and I haven't looked back. They also sell Kerastase and Bumble (what could make me happier?!) Stylist Brett Packer is the man! After years of telling stylist that I do not like my hair yellow/brassy/gold, I finally found someone who understood and created the perfect champagne/wheat/baby blonde. Brett also makes you feel like you are actually getting what you paid for your hair cut. He is meticulous about cutting hair and spends time to make sure he is giving you the style you asked for and a style that meets your lifestyle. I always value his opinions on my cut and enjoy sharing stories about our children even more. He is a rare find. more

MY first time here. After hearing from locals this was THE PLACE!! Saw BRETT - great wonderful!! Listened to me and did exactly what I asked and more. Not a lot of money. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! I have been a client/customer of In Color Salon for close to two years. And at my age, 63, I have had more than my fair share of bad haircuts, colors, and poor attitudes by hair stylists over the years. It wasn't until I started going to In Color Salon and having Brett give me his expert service, that I realized I didn't have to go home angry and embarassed by the appearance of my hair. In years past, I have walked out of prominent salons in San Francisco, Seattle, Beverly Hills, Santa Barbara and NYC, and never had the attention to detail and perfection in hair color, cut and styling. I had no idea my hair could look this good. My own sister in law is a hair stylist, yet I prefer to have ONLY Brett care for my hair. Pros: Cut and Color more

Found Brett Packer years ago and was immediately sold when he not only didn't shy away from my ridiculously thick hair but didn't treat my curls as a problem. He gave me a great cut that works perfectly blown straight or dried curly. Lost him for a few years and was so excited to find him again. He affords me the ability to wear my hair rather than hide it - and I've never seen someone work a blow dryer so expertly. He's never used a flat iron on my hair and it ends up perfect every time. InColor is also very clean and carries two very high end product lines. I use both on a daily basis but he never pushes me to buy what I don't need. I have been going to In Color Salon for about a year. My first stylist was Stina who unfortunately is no longer there. I had my first appointment with Kim last week and was extremely pleased. I had my hair colored for the first time with Stina and really liked it although it was very subtle (which was good for my first time). This time I was ready to kick it up a notch and Kim did not disappoint. I am so happy with both the cut and the color - I love it!!! Also, Nancy recommended a great product to give my hair volume that works great. It is always hard to find a stylist that you are comfortable with and at In Color Salon, I have been lucky enough to find two! i had a great experience at this salon. new to town i looked up bumble&bumble salons and incolor popped up, so i thought i would give it a try and i am so glad i did. the receptionist was super friendly and didn't get impatient while she gave me directions (after my mapquest ones led me astray) and she offered my a diet coke right when i walked in-love it! its a small, clean salon with a great vibe. the gal who did my hair (steeba) took the time to get to know my hair (sounds silly) but it really paid off, i have gorgeous blonde hair and a fresh easy cut that takes minutes to style. the kerastase conditioning treatment is FABULOUS and made my hair shiny and silky soft for weeks, not just days. super luxurious overall and worth every penny! i am for sure going back in 4 weeks! I have never loved my hair as much as I have since Audra has been cutting it. I've been going to In Color Salon for more than two years. The staff are professional and friendly and the salon is always clean. In Color Salon is the best place for hair cut, color, care, and creation. The owners and staff are highly trained with exceptional team work. I have used In Color as my ONLY tusted hair salon for the last 4 years. I have NEVER been let down. I have not told my hair dresser what to do with my hair in years because I know she will give me a style that fits my face and personality. They are honest, creative, and confident. They are constantly looking for new learning experiences. They are festive and host fashion shows to show off what they can do, but also to give back to their clients by letting them model, and give hair care days.
