We love the Service, the competitive rates, the fleet of new luxury vans, sprinter vans and 15 passnger van rentals Image rents.\r \r We used Image several times just like we just did this past week.\r \r \r \r Here is the official write-up of the weekend:\r \r METNY GU19 SQUAD BATTLE THEIR WAY TO THE NRU CUP FINALS \r \r July 13, 2010, Rutland VT – The Metropolitan New York Rugby Union Girls Under 19 team just returned from a successful competition in Vermont. \r \r After two tryouts and a scrimmage covering two states and the far reaches of the union, a roster of 20 was selected to represent the METNY at the NRU Cup from a 42 deep player pool.\r \r The NRU Cup is a vehicle for high performance player identification for the NRU GU18 and GU20 developmental squads, which then in turn goes on to compete nationally, giving the athletes an opportunity to possibly make the USA Junior Eagles team. Other teams represent New England RFU, New York State RFU and the Capital District at the competition.\r \r Overcast skies and rain could not detract from the beauty of the very green pitch that was provided by the Rutland Rugby Club and was nestled in a grove of tall trees and surrounded on all sides by pictorial Vermont mountains.\r \r First up for the METNY side was the heavily favored and long-time champion select side from New England. Both teams were very evenly matched, but it was the hard running of inside center, and a “Player of the Match”, Emily Laura which broke the game wide open with her strong running which eventually wore down the New England defense. Captain Rozi Martinez and wing JJ Reyes also made deep runs into New England territory. Although METNY had a 4-3 try advantage with almost no time left, New England was able to capitalize on a penalty right in front of the post to send the game into overtime tied 22-22. In overtime, METNY regrouped and was able to score twice to win 32-22 and earn a berth in the Championship match. The other player of the Saturday match was Lexi Garcia.\r \r Saturday’s extra time showed on Sunday as New York State was able to wear down the METNY players with hard runs and the foot of METNY’s own Katherine Foran (Stony Brook University) who played flyhalf for her indigenous side. Foran’s foot was aptly countered by the heads up play of METNY flyhalf Kaylen Santiago and Fullback Tina Miller. Led by Captains Lexi Garcia and Rozi Martinez who both made hard tackles and bruising runs, METNY dominated the rucks and other set pieces, but was unable to capitalize when they were able to break through the upstate team’s gainline. New York State was more fortunate on their runs, and was able to score on several line breaks. Strong forward play was demonstrated for a second day by BeBe Cammock, Corinne Heavner and Amanda Hearth. In a match much more even than the final score indicated, New York State scored late and prevailed with a final score of 22-0. Players of the match were Tina Miller and Jane Braun.\r \r The METNY squad now looks forward to entering both upcoming 7s and 15s tournaments this summer. Since it was going to be a class trip, I had a couple of parents going to make my life easier and to help keep track of the kids. \r \r We are from PA.
