Having had eaten at the chef's restaurant on Kauaii and having a wonderful meal there, we had high expectations that we would have a similar experience. We opted for the chef's tasting menu which included a deconstructed ahi roll for an appetizer which was the highlight of the meal. Subsequent courses served much too quickly included a surf/turf salad which was unmemorable, a thai lobster soup that was way over-spiced, yet was flat..., and a sesame crusted mahi-mahi that was charred within an inch of it's life, and some excellent quality tuna that was also charred on the outside. We sent back the charred outside pieces, and ate the sushi-grade center. The drinks were good, but expensive, and the ambience was confusing. It had a definite contemporary asian feel, but the music was better suited to a hip, urban bar.
Pros: good quality seafood
Cons: poor preparation, odd ambience, poor service
