We had my sister's in law bridal shower at IL Castello's last Saturday in the private dining room. Not only it is a beautiful place, you feel as if you were dining at a castle :) but the food was wonderful! Everything from the beginning to the end was great!!!! Our guests had a wonderful time, everyone loved the great wine and wonderful food. I love how the tables were set up and how friendly and helpful everyone was. I highly recommend IL Castello's!!! We used to love this place, haven't been there in a few months, and don't know what happened but it's far from what it used to be. The gracious owner and his friendly daughter, always on site in the past, were nowhere to be seen. Our first clue that it's changed (and, in all likelihood, under new ownership or at least management) should have been the valet parking that's now on hand to move your car 25 feet from curb into backyard parking lot. The next reason for dismay was the fretzy screaming three year old seated at the table in the center of the restaurant (conveniently situated to disturb ALL the diners). The kiddy noise segued to a DJ singing karaoke. Forget romantic, relaxed, decent conversation. All this previewed disppointing veal dishes, heavy on breading that had gone gooey in the too intense lemon sauce before it got to the table. If you loved this place in the past, do yourself a favor and don't go back. Remember it for the lovely out of the way Italian restaurant it used to be.. It's definitely NOT that anymore. There's little left of the Il Castello we used to know and love. Pros: Service is prompt and attentive Cons: Food is disappointing. Ambience shot dead by overly loud DJ. more

I happen to disagree with ""newjerseyreview's"" review of Castello's. I've been going to this place for over 2-years now, and I always recommend it to my friends. They have an amazing menu, and probably the best wine list in town. It's always one of my top choices when I feel like celebrating. The ambiance is subtle and the wait staff is always eager to please. Although you may have to motion for your waiter to come to your table, I find it nice knowing that someone isn't interrupting my conversation every 5-minutes to ask how things are. \r \r They are always quick to serve, portions are just right, and the food is presented brilliantly. I recently moved to the Woodbridge Area. I use to leave in the Morris County Area near Mendham and Chester. I decided to visit Castello for my first time last night. WOW..What an experience. When I arrived, I had to wait over 30 minutes to see a menu. I tried to order 2 different wines but they did not have it in stock. I decided to try the Pinot Grigio since the manager, Joe, recommended which was HORRIBLE! The wine tasted like water. My reservation was at 8:30pm, and I did not get to place an order till 9:30pm. I am Colombian and my boyfriend is from Uruguay. We were completely ignored by the waiter. We were sitting there with our menus closed, and our waiter walked right passed us and continued to serve the other tables. I have NEVER been stereotyped in a restaurant before last night. My boyfriend and I were soooooo ANGRY that we left the restaurant and went to La Griglia in Kenilworth, NJ. We highly recommend La Griglia !!! Il Castellos Restaurant has amazingly delicious italian cuisiune...this is the Ciprianis of New Jersey! The service is great, and the food is to die for! I love Il Castello's. The veal is the best in New Jersey, and even surpasses many NY restaurants. Lived in NY, now NJ and this place is a find. The veal chop, veal toscana and saltimboca are excellent. The fish, and shellfish are always fresh. Service very good, sometimes overpowering. I hosted a 50th wedding ann party here last year. The owners are very accomodating. Located on Main Street, with plenty of onstreet and private parking lot. Desserts are also incredible. They feature fresh cannollis, and flambe. Worth the money (average entree $20). Pros: FOOD, service, location Cons: dont go too late or too early, make reservations. kids can go, but menu isnt TGIF more

From the host Luigi to Lisa behind the bar and all the staff at Castellos, the service here is unbeatable. The food is fantastic and the ambience is truly Jersey Italian. Take the money you'd waste at the overpriced locales in Times Square and Little Italy and head to Jersey! Pros: Staff, Food, Atmosphere more
