Ikon Model Management

I worked with Ikon for many years and had a great experience. I found the staff to be knowlegable, caring and very down to earth. The girls I lived with were great and we had the best summers. I am now living my dream in NYC and the housing was a good stepping stone for me I now have my own place. I would highly recommend it. more

I worked with Ikon for a long time.I saw these 2 reviews and thought I would write in because I feel badly about the negative experience and that these negative experiences could ruin a reputation of someone who worked very hard to do a good thing for people who aspire to model. I just want to say that the ikon emloyee referenced in the letters is no longer there and that contributed to many of the problems that were detailed in the review. I know that Cynthia the owner of the agency was a model for 15 years and built Ikon to be a good clean agency and really truly tried to provide safe and affordable housing for young people coming to live and work in NYC. more

This agency is after your money. Summer 2005 I was invited to live in one of their model apartments. I was told it was in New York and i would be living with a maximum of 3 other girls. I ended up in New Jersey living with 8 girls in a cramped 1 bedroom apartment above a Subway resteraunt. The agency put beds in the living room and dining room for us to sleep on. The 8 of us each paid about $3,000 each for 3 months rent. Over the course of the summer i only got maybe 10 castings and one job at a hair salon for $500. None of the other girls even got one paying job. Every time I would try to go to the office to see my ""agent"" Aristeo was his name I would wait for hours to see him then he would just tell me not to worry he would call me the next day with castings. They also set up a photo shoot for my portfolio with a photographer named Lucian. It was at his stanky loft where he and his girlfriend were practically fornicating in front of me during my shoot. And the pictures turned out horrible because he used a regular digital camera. IKON models is a SCAM!!!!! AVOID at all cost. Cons: everything you can think of more

I definatly DO NOT recomend this agency. First off, they only want your money. I have spent thousands on their small one bedroom model apartment to be smushed in with 7 other people, they make you pay $100 for a *manditory* DVD that the ""industry professionals put together to show the in's and out's of modeling"" but really, it's a half-a$$ made video by the bookers of Ikon. For a portfolio you can get for $30 at a model store, they make you pay $65 for one with their name on it and its $100 if you want to even be on their website. and thats only the cost side, they are extremely unprofessional. There have been multiple occasions where they have unessicarily yelled at one of their models for *their* mistakes. They neglect to give you the money you make and then put it toward your model housing rent. but thats only if you can manage to get a paying job. 95% of the jobs you're sent on are not paying and the few that are are cattle calls. And you only get about 1-2 castings every week. Avoid doing business with them if nessicary. more
