If you are looking for good quality sushi for a good price then you have found the right place. Do not confuse this place with a high end sushi establishment because it is not. I've been to so many sushi places in my life and out of all this is the best. I believe that all those people who gave this place a 1-star rating is stupid enough to say that the sushi there is not authentic. Have they ever been to Japan? My mother has gone twice, all she ever ate there was sushi..she says the sushi in Ichiban is the exact same thing. I recommend sitting at the bar and asking for John. He is a great employee and makes great sushi. As for the other food, it is DELICIOUS!! The teriyaki is great. And so is the tempura. And all for dashing prices!!! The atmosphere is just great too! I'm not really into restaurants with heavy atmosphere but at least have something. Food was quite lousey as well and service was sub-par. I felt like I was at a japanese Denny's. Pros: I didnt get sick Cons: Too much to list more

Unfortunately, this a popular place frequented by people who think that they are consuming real Japanese food, no doubt, lured in by the reasonable prices and good location / signage and ability to accommodate large groups. It also has a popular sushi bar. I've been here off and on over the past several years, and have finally written off of my list - after having given it more than a fair chance. The tempura is usually fried in old vegetable oil, sometimes over fried and was even served cold once - I had to send it back. Tempura should be served piping hot and fried in fresh oil so that it's light and crispy and delightful. The teriyaki sauce is thick and heavy and laden with salt and sugar - it should be a delicate sweet and salt combination smoothed out by sweet rice wine. The sushi rice has a wierd flavor - not at all Japanese. The sushi is embasrrasing and unappetizing to look at - amateurishly rolled and messy looking. A well put together sushi will be cut evenly, have a very clean, crisp look, firmly rolled- no ingredients hanging out. It should consist of nothing but fresh ingredients with the consistency and flavor of the sushi rice just as important as the freshness of the rest of the ingredients. The salmon was very good one time and huge disapointment another time- it should flake and be tender but was tough. Needless to say, I am done with this place and decided to go out of my way to write a review to formalize my input. If you're craving good sushi, but don't have a lot of money to spend....Ichiban is the place to go! We are never disapointed and always leave happy and full. In fact, we love it so much that we go at least once a week! Never a long wait, even on a weekend night. more

Where else in the area can you get a really good Japanese dinner for about $10? The food here is excellent, with the combo plates being the most popular. You have a choice of two or three things for your plate (for example, shrimp or vegetable tempura, beef or chicken teriyaki, yaki gyoza, etc) along with miso soup,salad, rice. The sushi is very good, high quality fish (according to my husband). If you like seafood, definitely try the white roll...a deep fried tempura covered california-type roll...YUM! While the decor is not that great (booths and tables...some larger spaced in the back room) it is a clean establishment. Their take-out food is an excellent way to enjoy the food without the wait for a table that can sometimes form. It is a very kid-friendly place and we often take our four daughters there. After eating at this Ichiban for years, my wife and I will never be back. The last occasion that we ate there we were treated like homeless people and walked out. Years of drinks steep bills and generous tips and we get this? No thanks, do your self a favor and go to a restaurant that appreciates your business and realizes that you are doing them a favor by patronizing their establishment. Not one that feels they are doing you a favor by serving you. Japanese restaurants are all about service, respect and kindness...Not arrogance, disrespect and attitude problems. I like this restaurant even though I don't eat sushi. I prefer my food cooked and they do a darn good job of fixing both. My daughter's like the sushi and I'm crazy for the Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura. While waiting for our food I like drinking Plum wine and snacking on edamame. The atmosphere here is nice, very clean with a nice sushi bar to sit at and plenty of tables & booths. more
