misguide customers for quick profit 4/14/2012

Diner BEWARE! Use caution with wait staff recommendations. Early evening menu item unavilable and waitress recommended tasty but pricy alternative. Then recommended chef's choice sangria carafe (market price). Watery sangria was at least 'wet' though poor excuse for sangria. The real shock was the price, which was not addressed with the recommendation - $45.00. Outrageous even if the sangria had been good - NOT. Pig's view - promote profit - deceive diners to boost bill and hopefully the tip. Shame on Management for dissuading return customers. Very disappointing experience. more

Amazing Food, Friendly Service 11/13/2011

As a visitor just passing through the area, I may not have the opportunity to revisit this gem, but everyone else should. Despite not having a reservation, we sat at what seemed to be the best table, by the window with a plaza view. Our server was friendly and the food was delicious. I ordered two small plates: the eggplant fries and the Spanish tortoloni and both were so, so yummy! With just a touch of upscale, this reasonably priced restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere and amazing food! more

The place to go if u like to eat pig 7/22/2011

This was my first time eating there and I enjoyed it. We had a meat and cheese plate as the appetizer and I couldnt have enjoyed it more. The ambiance is cool with a down home style. Parking was a little hard, but thats downtown decatur for you. more

Such a cool Restaurant 1/11/2011

Iberian Pig has old fashioned drinks and a fun, eclectic menu. The flavors in each dish we tried, were really intense and delicious. I will have many good dreams of the bacon wrapped dates! more

Foodies grab your fork! 10/14/2010

I am giving my review only 4 stars due to temp in the restaurant, SLOW service and not enough food. We had 11 people who got together and did a chef tasting. The process took 3.5 hours! Service was painfully slow...each person did not get their own plate but a platter of a few things put in the middle of the table. Basically each person got a bite. Not nearly the food we felt we should have received for the price. We would NOT do a chef tasting again. The restaurant was HOT, slow and wearrived and left hungry. The food: in a word FANTASTIC! Bacon wrapped dates in espresso aoli, fried crab balls, pork tenderloin, salad with butter lettuce and fresh shaved cheese....OH MY! I love the creative idea behind the dishes served. Flavor profiles were spot on in all dishes. For that reason alone, we would go back to this restaurant. Even the drinks will surprise you in tast and creativity! We had a Pink Nancy in honor of breast cancer which was wonderfully refreshing. We also had Red Sangria which we also like but were told the White is even better. We were not impressed with the Churros for dessert...basically just fried dough with little flavor and chocolate sauce that needed a bit more sweetness for our taste. Go in a couple (not a group) and order a lot of food...you'll like the food! more

Delicious Spanish Tapas 3/28/2010

Smack dab in the middle of uber cool Decatur Square, the Iberian Pig successfully serves up Spanish tapas in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The cheese and charcuterie plate is a must-try, and is served alongside an espresso aioli, which, honestly, would be good schmeared on anything. The pork cheek tacos are amazing, and oddly taste even better once they sit a moment and cool down. The BBQ octopus is flavorful and smoky and has no textural issues that calamari often has. Don't forget to sample a cocktail--each one is artfully concocted and watching it being made is part of the fun. more

Disappointed Repeat Customer 2/21/2010

I am a repeat customer to Iberian Pig. In fact, my family dined there on opening night and had a long conversation with the owner's father. Last night, Feb 2010, my wife and I returned to dine there, hoping to introduce it to a good friend and business client. We did not have reservations, although this has never been an issue before. We were told by the three ladies at the front that our wait time would be about a half hour. We left and returned exactly a half hour later only to be told that we would be seated within "a few minutes." We obliged and stood by the bar waiting. Although others were given a menu to look at, no one came by to offer us one. Finally after another 20 minutes, my husband went to get a menu. An hour after we had put our name on the waitlist, we finally scored some seats by chance at the bar. We sat down, and were told again that it would be only another few minutes to be seated. We felt like we interrupted the bartender in order to get glasses of wine. He was rude, as if we were bothering him. My wife's bar chair was literally shaking, as it seemed to be on its last legs. I informed the bartender who only seemed to shrug his shoulders and said "sorry, i don't have another chair." I told him that it's really dangerous to have this chair out and that someone could fall. No one at the bar asked if we wanted to order food. We had to constantly nag the bartenders to order food or more drinks. Although the food was, as usual, the only redeeming quality, most of it came out very late, especially the burger, which arrived about 40 minutes after we ordered it without any apology or explanation. We spent a good deal of money but felt that the entire night was a disaster due to poor customer service. By the way, we were NEVER called by the hostess to be seated, even though we were consistently told that it would still be "a few minutes" whenever we asked. We have dined at many fine restaurants the world over and have lived all over Spain. We enjoy the food at Iberian Pig and find it exceptional. But in this town, you need a bit more than that in order to get people to patronize your establishment. Customer service was atrocious last night and we will never return as a result or recommend it to anyone as we had been doing since you opened. Pros: excellent food Cons: horrible customer service more

Cool place for Decatur Square 1/22/2010

Decatur needs more dining like this. Charming, on the square, this place rules. The jamon iberico, the prized spanish ham might cost some $15 for an appetizer, but it's well worth it. You could practically drink this meat. Atmosphere is part cool but not pretentious. Something that will be comfortable both now, and 10 years from now. There are big plates on the menu, but this is def a sharable spot, so my call is to get a bunch of apps and pass em around. Parking totally sucks, but the square is one of two places besides the airport that Marta actually makes sense! Pros: great place for tapas Cons: tough to find parking more

Fantastic! Hidden Gem 12/14/2009

Stephanie was a great server! The food could not be better. The trio of sausages is insuperable. I particularly loved the lamb sausage. It was gamey, but not overwhelming. The Wild Boar 'Albondigas"" are better than expected. And to finish up the ""Copa Catalana"" is what ""Creme Brulee"" aspires to be... Warm, Welcoming, Not one mistake while I was dining... Pros: The food is scrumptious / The Service is warm and welcoming Cons: If it is your first time it is difficult to find more
