Ippatsu is the place to go if you are looking for a sophisticated but current hair cut. They do a beautiful job on hair color as well and have great advice for me when I'm ready to make a change and update my look. Be prepared to wait a few weeks though to get in, they are good and book up quickly. more

i got a haircolor and cut service here and when i was chemically burned severely because the stylist failed to rinse the bottom of my hair when putting me in shampoo bowl, no one apologized. rude as hell and they straight out lied acting like there was no way it could've been their fault. won't ever go there again and def don't recommend it. more

Doug at Ippatsu gave me the best haircut I've ever had...hands down. No one has ever known how to cut my hair, but he knew exactly what to do when he saw it. I wouldn't trust anyone else to cut my hair. He's really talented and he's also really knowledgeable and pleasant! Go there! more

If you have curly hair, Doug is your man. He's such a sweetheart, makes you feel like cutting your hair is the absolutely most important thing to him while your there, and explains everything while he's doing it if you want him to so you know exactly what's going on throughout the entire cut. I have heard so many great things about Ippatsu, so I decided to try them out when I needed a new style. They are EXCELLENT! My stylist, Amy, worked with me to find my likes & dislikes to give me a style I am absolutely thrilled about. Plus, I called at 4:00 today and was in by 5:00 for my appointment. How great is that?! Everyone there was very nice and the atmosphere was a lot of fun and welcoming. You will love it! more

I have been a client of Ippatsu Salon for several years, and have had approximately 60 visits to the salon during that time. My experience there on both the personal and professional level has been nothing short of outstanding. The salon staff are friendly, welcoming, and competent, the salon itself is clean and well appointed, and the stylists are skilled, adept experts who will listen to you and work with you to help you achieve the look you want. I have been a client of other salons, some of which have been very good, and I've also had my share of haircuts at chain haircutting stores. In my view, none of these other establishments offered the high levels of professionalism, skill, care, and personal attention that I have always received at Ippatsu Salon. About three months ago I walked out of a very expensive Champaign salon crying at what they had done to my curly hair. Last week I went into Ippatsu and not only was Doug sensitive to the fact that I was nervous about trusting a stranger with my hair, he gave me the best haircut I have ever had. I got compliments from strangers the very next day. My curls look amazing and feel amazing because the technique he used to cut my hair cuts down on the dryness and frizz. I have a ton of long, heavy, thick hair and am used to getting 'ok' but not great cuts from most places. I had a spontaneous desire for a haircut yesterday and was able to get a same day appointment at Ippatsu with Abby. She listened to my ideas, provided some of her own, and was friendly throughout the process. The salon was hip and trendy but managed to stay approachable for someone un-hip like me. Roxanne, the resident chihuahua, was a nice surprise, even though she was having a moody day. I have never had a nicer haircut - Abby did a beautiful job of dealing with my thick hair and making it look polished. At $40 for a basic haircut, Ippatsu isn't cheap. I had my hair cut there a few months ago and it was horrible. The girl, who said that she had curly hair herself, didn't know how to do a simply blowout. She also didn't have a curling iron or a straightening iron on hand. After 45 minutes of her messing with my hair, she basically ran out of time and let me leave looking like a fried poodle. ug. more

One stylist has a good cutting skill but the style doesn't go with my face. The environment is very modern and stylish and some people like it very much. Last time I went they charged $25 and I don't know if they increase the price or not. I don't think there are many good salson around here. So if you cannot find a good one, Ippatsu is the one worth to give it a shot. more

I went to Ippatsu for about 2 years. I have since moved from the area, but really miss it! It's trendy w/o being intimidating or obnoxious. The stylists are fun, and they are up-to-date on their trade. The products they use are very high-quality, and I always loved how my hair looked. Plus, Roxanne, the chiuahua that lives there is adorable! PROS: Stylists, products, atmosphere.... CONS: Price (but, you get what you pay for!) more
