I gone to many hobbie shops for years.the prices are spot on in hurricane.Most prices are the same as mail order or less.They always go out of their way to help me or get parts for me.So for the few hobby shops left in long island i would definitly go to hurricane for my next purchase. 15 YEARS 4/17/2008

I HAVE BEEN GOING TO RUSS FOR 15+ YEARS AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE STORE. I HAVE BOUGHT ALOT OF KITS OVER THE YEARS AND I STILL GO BACK TO HURRICANE. I ALWAYS TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY I WANT TO BE TREATED AND THAT IS HOW I CARRY MYSELF. I THINK THE SHOP COULD BE BIGGER BUT HEY WE LIVE ON LONG ISLAND, RENT IS TO HIGH. ALL I CAN SAY IS I LIKE GOING TO HURRICANE AND WILL CONTIUE TO GO THERE. THEY KNOW THERE STUFF AND HEY NOT ALL OF THE CONSUMER ARE NICE PEOPLE SO WITH THAT SAID ITS YOUR CHOSE IF YOU GO THERE OR NOT . Buyer Beware of Hurricane Hobbies 4/17/2008

This is the most unprofessional place I have ever dealt with. They have no idea how to treat their customers. The place is a mess, they all sit behind this counter on their asses eating junk food all day long and if you ask them a question while they have their mouth full, they give you an attitude like you are bothering them. Here's my story - I was foolish enough to buy my husband a Traxxis (not sure of the spelling) Christmas 2006. Over $600 for this car and they were rude during the whole entire transaction. My husband had to go there a few times to get accessories for this car, each time unpleasant as well. Last Thursday my house got broken into and pretty much everything of value was stolen including this car. Since I need the receipt to prove my loss to the insurance company (and not having any idea where I could have put it) I called Hurricane Hobbies today to explain my loss. Usually when you tell someone you got robbed, they express a little sympathy, I mean that is the humane thing to do. So the first guy tells me he can't help me, he'll put someone else on. The next guy (I'm assuming the Owner who has the worst attitude of all) tells me that they don't keep records after two years, I tell him it wasn't two years ago and that I bought it in December 2006 and he says, ""well, 2006 was 2 years ago, we're halfway through 2008"" and then says that he destroys his records after one year. I think that he probably keeps terrible records and wouldn't know how to find it but I can guarantee you that if NYS Sales Tax audited him, he would have to produce these receipts (did I mention I paid cash for this car?) So I ask if there is anything he can give me that I can present to the insurance company to get reimbursed so I can come back and buy a replacement. The guy in the background starts yelling, ""Jesus Christ, give me the phone"" and when I asked the guy why he said that, he said he was talking to a customer. Yeah, right! Consumer - BE WARNED!!!! True Rip Offs. Selling cheap clones as genuine factory items. 1/29/2008

I wish I have read the first review( Lindanurse) before I bought from them. They are true rip offs, they sold me a cheap clone for the same price as of a genuine item. The clone is $100 less every where. When I called them and asked for an explanation they became extremely hostile and used all sorts of profanity. They said they'll not take it back and only after enduring much of ther abusive and vulgar language the owner said they'll give a store credit ""bring it back you AssH...."". So me being a family guy who has this as a side hobby had to eat up the loss. Most of the things that I have seen were overpriced anyway. I dont know who wrote the other two reviews but by reading it carefully I have a strong feeling that they are either family members if not the owner himself. Just look at the the pros GOOD PARKING, WELL LIGHTED, HUGE INVENTORY, YOU CAN'T MAKE EVERYBODY HAPPY and all sorts of abusive language for the previous reviewer""she must be on some strong meds"". This shop is not for a newbe or if you dont belong to a g@ng. They are master deciever's and they'll never take any item back, most they'll do is to give you a store credit but be prepared to be verbally abused by them and by the way most of the things that I have seen were overpriced anyway. I just came from Hurricane Hobbies and the people were very helpful. I bought an electric motor from another hobby shop and I put the wrong pinion on the motor. When I returned to the ""other store"" the guy there could not help me. He did not have a pinion puller in stock and wanted to order one for me for $20.00. When I called Hurricane Hobbies they had a pinion puller in stock to sell but the guy on the phone said not to bother buying it for just one time use and to just come on in and he would pull it for me. So I went there and they were very friendly and did it rite away for free. These people are the best. Pros: Good people, family owned. Cons: ? more

Ive read the review from lindanurse70 and she must be on some strong meds.The guys and gals at hurricane are very friendly and go out of theyre way to help you. why wouldn't you pay to have your r.c. car fixed? I'd love for it to be free too ,but I understand everybody has to make a living.There are not many hobby stores left on the island, so do what i do and support your local hobby store and use the internet for more productive means. I went to this shop couple of times, always had a bad experience. Items are generally over priced, poor public relations. Things that other hobby shop does for free, this shop will charge you $20. I will not recommend this shop to anybody. more
