Wonderful! 1/31/2012

Well, my prior comment still stands. Actions do speak louder than words. The team girls are halfway into their season and they are doing a fantastic job! The current coaches who have stepped up to the plate are doing an amazing job! There continues to be ZERO drama at the gym, and the coaches have continued with their supportive and positive coaching techniques. In all my years coming to this gym, I can finally feel the sense of "family" when you walk into the gym. Jerry has done an amazing job with all of the gym improvements and his dedication to the gym. His hard work shows and is truly paying off. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season and watching each of these girls grow as individuals and gymnasts. So happy to be at HUGS!!!! more

Things are great! 12/15/2011

Many changes have been made over at HUGS and they have all been very positive. I have two kids on team and this is the happiest they have ever been when it comes to gymnastics. It feels like we are one big happy family/team and that is the way it should be. The coaches are great and Jerry and Dawn are a perfect fit for the gym! more

great start to a new beginning 11/8/2011

This weekend levels 4,5, &6 competed their first meet of the season. The HUGS family could not be more pround to see the coaches getting the job done and the kids finally being recognized for their hard work in the gym. level 6 received 1st place, level 4's - 2nd place, and level 5's 3rd place! The new attitude in the gym with such great coaches and owners who support not only their staff, co-workers, clients, and fantastic gymnasts - its no wonder why children and families look forward to commin to HUGS! I reccomend this gym to children of any age with great pre school classes to a fantastic team. Its no wonder this place has been i business for 10 years!! more

hugs rules! 11/7/2011

The NEW HUGS! 11/7/2011

I forgot to mention that not only does HUGS have an elite staff of team coaches, we also have an elite staff of recreational coaches who build the foundation of our great team girls! It is not one coach that makes a gymnast great, it is many coaches. And, the look of the gym is not soley on the owner of the business but the staff and clientele as well...HUGS looks GREAT now with the help of our staff, team families, and recreational families taking pride in HUGS :) more

Great Gym...Great New Owners 11/6/2011

HUGS did go through a major over haul this year. Beginning with the removal of two disgruntled coaches and team members that created drama, HUGS has rebuilt to an elite staff of coaches and great gymnasts. Also, HUGS has a NEW owner that is a former elite gymnast with many improvements already made. State of the Art equipment does not mean state of the art gymnasts. Elite coaches and elite gymnasts is what makes a gymnastics club #1. HUGS regrets all the drama that was created this past year to their clients, but what is done, is done, and it is time to move on and focus on the kids, not bashing other gyms. Let's just all have a great and successful season. And, by the way, HUGS first meet of the season, Our compulsories took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. What a way to start a NEW season. Go HUGS! HIT! STICK! WIN! more

We left this gym and went to the new gym HGA. 11/6/2011

The owner is just in this for the money. He cares nothing for any of the kids. Last winter he let the heaters fail and my two team girls were training in 40 - 50 degree temperatures for a month in the winter. He doesn't have the parking lot cleared and the snow removed in the winter. It is a big ice arena. Extremely dangerous. I can go on and on. Since most of the gym has left he has tried to make some improvements, but too little, too late. Especially when there is a brand new state of the art gym in town. The only reason why we stayed orginally was for a couple of coaches. Well, when they left so did we. Also 70 percent of the team left also. What does that tell you!!! Go to the new state of the art gym in Huntley. more

Not Recommended 10/17/2011

Good: Location. Close to home.. Bad: Only one instructor to a class of 10 to 12 toddlers. Not enough direction. More instructors would mean that parents wouldn't need to go in with the kids and distract.. Improvements: Cleaner, more direction, better instructors.. Other: My son was pushed around by another child in the class and the mom was disruptive in her discipline of thie child when he/she did this. The "coach" did nothing about it and I don't think she could even have noticed it with all the kids running loose. I didn't pay for romper room.. more

Love it! 9/11/2011

HUGS gymnastics is awesome! The coaches truly care about the gymnasts and have REAL background experience in the sport of gymnastics. At other gyms you get high school coaches and other coaches who were just cheerleaders when they were young. HUGS actually has coaches that were level 10 calibur. Most of them are Moms and Dads themselves, so they know how to deal with children. HUGS has great programs and has been in Huntley for 10 years!!! Not many businesses can say that! Coach Miss Sue is AWESOME at preparing young gymnasts for higher levels! She's one the best pre school coach in the STATE! Megan, Missy, Maura, Kristen, Tina and Mario are awesome with the Rec kids and the team. I'm not sure what happened this summer at HUGS, but someone TOTALLY cleaned it up. And there used to be a little boy that ran around there all the time, and he is gone now. Thank you HUGS for taking care of that one little problem! more

Amazing!! 7/28/2011

Little F’s comments about HUGS are quite interesting. She obviously is NOT a current gymnast at HUGS, but is one of those gymnasts who was recruited by the old coaches to go to the new Huntley gym, that has yet to open. Everything described in her comments are exactly the way the gym was run when the old coaches and girls were there. The current coaches are DRAMA FREE, team driven and do not exhibit any type of favoritism whatsoever, unlike the old regime! There are SIX team groups, unlike the three that Little F comments on, and they are all doing wonderful!! The owner is not hurting by any means. Take a look at our monthly fees, coaches fees and leo costs compared to the other Huntley gym, HUGS is lower. So who is hurting? Anyways, the gym is being run the way it should be now, with a TEAM atmosphere, ZERO favoritism, the coach and owners actually run the gym, not a favored group of parents, all of the girls love each other and their coaches, and they are actually learning something each and every day! We are sooooooo happy we stayed at HUGS. The current head coach of HUGS, along with the rest of the coaches, are pulling out all of the stops. They coach with POSITIVE reinforcement and truly care about EVERY girl, not just a select few. It is a breath of fresh air to watch these girls really work as a team and grow each and every day. I’m not quite sure how Little F. can make a comment that the team girls aren’t very good. Not sure who she is watching, but it is definately not the team girls at HUGS. But rather than dispute that, time will tell, and actions will speak louder than words during the 2011-2012 season. The coaches, owners and girls at HUGS are absolutely amazing! more

Horrible. Just Horrible. 7/15/2011

Good: The business runs well at first but when you look closer, it's not what anyone would like.. Bad: The gym is filthy, the gymnasts are bitter and mean, the coaches (or coach should I say) are uncaring and rude, the equiptmenment isn't up to date, the owner is cheap, and the drama is way too intense.. Improvements: None can be made, the owner isn't making enough income with only 3 team groups so the gym should just close down unless money just pops out of the sky because this gym isn;t running great and the team isn't even very good anymore. All the upper levels quit and went to a far better gym due the 'problems' this gym is having.. Other: The gymnasts are so negative towards each other, that's probably why all the upper levels left because of the negativity and degrading comments. The level 10 always walks around with a grimace on her face and is very rude to the gymnasts and coaches. I'm a gymnast there and it's not working out very much.. more

hugs is gonna be amazing this year! 6/3/2011

The other gyms r gonna look at hugs and be like i thought she was a level 6 last year and now she is a level 8!! WOW! we have the best coach around:Mario! he has been coaching girls for a long time and now that he finally gets to be head coach he can do things he has done at his past gyms when he was head coach! He already has the whole summer planned out from day to day! last summer we did the same things over and over again.. more

snipe 5/28/2011

Good: This is the best gym around. I dont no why people are leaving. Once they see us next year competing they are going to regret leaving couse we are gonna dominate. nbd. I LOVE THE COACHES! i dont have anything bad to say. i have been here many years and the coaches thats are staying here, are the the best around. they did gymnastics themself so the no how to coach it.. Bad: I LIKED EVERYTHING. Improvements: none.itsgreat.. Other: The team kids are all super nice and make everyone feel welcomed.. more

Overall a Great Program 12/14/2010

Hugs is a great gym, our competition season is just kicking off this weekend and all of the girls look ready and prepared to go. Our 4s, 7s, and 10 go on friday, with the 9 and 6s on Saturday. Finally the 8s and 5s on sunday! Gonna be a great meet and it's all thanks to the coaches. Great program! more

HUGS is Great!!! 12/2/2010

As a parent of a level 6 gymnast who has been at HUGS for 7 years, I love it. The coaches are attentive and they are creating great gymnasts. You think the gym is dirty? Well, many great gymnasts came from gyms that were not the best. Torn mats, etc. It's not the nice new equipment that makes a great gymnast, it is the coaching and gymnasts themselves. Don't like the way the lobby looks? Well, all the parents chatting it up and letting their kids ruin the new chairs and carpeting are to blame. NOT the coaching staff. Give them a chance. I never thought my daughter would grow to be such a great gymnast with several all-around titles under her belt within the last 2 competive seasons. Not only is it her skills but it is also the coaching staff that is implementing those skills. As any place of business, people will always think the grass is greener somewhere else. If you feel that way, then there is the door. more

then change 11/2/2010

If they don't like the reviews then they should change. I brought my daughter there a few years back and I am surprised after reading these reviews that some of those coaches are still even there that weren't interested in teaching, just as it's says in the reviews gossiping instead. My daughter has been to other tumbling places in the area that have been much more interested in teaching her. more

Get a sitter! or pay attention to your kid! 9/8/2010

The only thing i have to say about HUGS is the one coach that worried about how she looks, and does not pay attention the the kids. I can see from the mirror that she is not friendly with the kids. My daughter goes there, i would refuse to have her as a coach. And like somebody else comment on her before she always the center of attention! Maybe someone should tell her to pay attention to her kid that runs around out of control!!! I'm surprise the management at HUGS would let him ran out. Get a sitter!!! more

NOT RECOMMENDED 7/28/2010

DIRTY. RUDE. The receptionist hates questions and makes me feel like I'm troubling her when I am so much as handing her a check. The coaches curse and degrade the kids. They talk among themselves about the kids. After 4 year my kids and myself, we've had enough. TAKING OUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. more

These reviews aren't flattering! 7/16/2010

I'm in search of a gym to enroll my young daughter who has very little experience. My daughter loves the concept of gymnastics so I'm looking for a gym who will guide and mentor her without treating her like an Olympic champion. Before I chose a gym, I thought I'd do some on-line looking to see what our options are. I have to say, the arguing, bickering, trash talking on-line between (what looks like) gymnasts, parents, coaches, etc is frightening. It seems like a hostile environment, obviously not where I want my child to be. Even though there are mixed reviews, based on the amount of negative ones, I don't know if I can take a chance. Even the positive reviews seem more defensive if anything. I know this isn't much of a "review", but maybe those who are in favor of this gym should re-think their posts. These reviews alone with keep new people from giving it a chance. more
