A Favorite - especially to brings friends from out of town 10/25/2011

Love the setting...great food...so nice to bring out of town guests to enjoy atmosphere and can usually count on the consistent quality...but please bring back the spicy sauce for the crab cakes...I'm sad it has changed... more

Great food & atmosphere, but unbelievable wine prices... 7/4/2011

I live in Houston and stumbled onto this place a few years ago w/ some friends while on a weekend NB trip. I was talking to some locals at the coffee shop and told them that I was looking for a cool local place that had great local food and a good wine list...since my friends and I are into really into wine, the wine list was actually the most important aspect of the restaurant for us. They all recommended Huisache. In short, the atmosphere is very inviting and casual, service is friendly, and the food is awesome. But, what gets overlooked is the wine selections and most of all the wine prices. Coming from Houston and having the extremely inflated wine prices be an eveyrday occurance, we found this list to be a very welcome surprise. In all of my dining, I have never seen prices this low. Delicious food, great service, relaxing atmosphere! 7/18/2010

We've been dining at Huisache Grill for years and I have to say that, after an informal poll of our circle of friends (all foodies), we have never had one bad meal or experience at this restaurant. The menu is interesting, food is creative, fresh, very delicious and beautifully presented! Full bar, lots of room, friendly staff, charming Texas style atmosphere. Check this place out! You are in for a treat! Definitely one of our favorites! Pros: It's all good at Huisache Grill! Cons: none! more

Restaurant lies about Redfish 10/9/2008

If you order the Redfish, you're going to get Tilapia; at least that's what happened to me. I worked in a seafood market for almost 4 years so I can tell the two apart easily. I asked the waitress to check on it and she said, ""Well the box in the freezer said Redfish, but my manager offered to take 25% off the bill."" The restaurant may be getting lied to by the supplier, but any chef worth a darn would know the difference and speak up about it, rather than server to guests. I recommend boycotting any restaurant intentionally deceiving customers like this. Pros: The vegetables were good, atmosphere was nice Cons: Preys on public's general lack of knowledge of seafood to make more money more

Excellent food. 9/21/2008

Driving down the main road in downtown New Braunfels, you would pass-by it and not even know that there is a great little resturant off the path and next to an active railroad track! Pros: Excellent food and ambience for couples and off the beaten path! Cons: Active Railroad track ;) more

One of the best places in NB to eat 5/12/2008

First off i have to say i have eaten here many times and NEVER had a bad meal or bad service. Some how the food gets better each time I go. well, worth the money and is a great place to bring out of town guests Pros: the food and the staff Cons: you sometimes have to wait a bit to get a seat more

Huisache Grill A Yummy Place to Eat 4/28/2005

The Huisache Grill is tucked away in down town New Braunfels, Texas amongst old live oaks and an ecclectic shopping area. The wait is sometimes long, but they provide a portable pager so you can stroll the garden and enjoy a glass of wine. Prices are quite average for the quality of food, dinners start around $15 and are hearty sized portions of yummy food! My favorite is the pork chop lollipop. My husband loves the steak. The restaurant is casual, but nice. A great date night out. PROS: very good food at reasonable prices, wonderful atmosphere CONS: wait can be long and when the train runs by it's very loud more

The restaurant has a good selection of wine and beer, but the food is only slightly above mediocre and a bit overpriced. In the booth we sat at there were tortilla chip crumbs on my seat, a few on the table and on the floor, otherwise, the ambiance was good. Pros: good location, good wine selection, cozy Cons: limited parking, mediocre food, not a good value more

Worth a Visit 8/10/2002

A very good restaurant. Located ""downtown"" the restaurant is located in a rather awkward position to get into and out of, and it is right next to the railroad tracks. But this does not detract from atmosphere or the food. There are a number of interesting entrees that are all very reasonably priced. We definitely will go there again when we visit. more
