I agree with the other reviewer, the appointments are easy to get and you are seen quickly and at your appointment time. The vet himself does take the time to answer any of your questions. We just moved to the area a few months ago and added a new addition to the family, this vet is the ONLY one that seemed to have a good review so I chose them to check out our new puppy. The first two appointments seemed fine, in and out with no issues. The Doc SEEMED to really care about the animals so when it was time for my family to go out of town for a short weekend I did not hesitate to call them and see if they had room in their kennel and sure enough they did. I "thought" with such excellent service during our appointments with the vet that our pups would get the same treatment while they stayed there over the weekend.. Boy was I wrong.. While visiting my sister in FL, I had my cat neutered at the Vet where she works. A few days after I brought him back home to GA, he began to show signs of complications. He was very lethargic, just laying around and not eating and he seemed to be in pain. I call his regular vet and relayed what was going on. I was told "we dont keep any medicines on hand...okay bye." That was it. Disturbed, I called another vet in the area, Houston Lake Animal Hospital, a place I had never been. They told me to bring him right in. Turns out he had an infection and a temp of 106.1! The vet there said at 107 brain damage occurs. They kept my cat for 4 days and treated him with antibiotics until his temp finally dropped. There is no doubt in my mind that he would have died had I not taken him in. No thanks to our own vet who couldnt even be bothered! One of the best. I called this vet's office when I had an emergency that my regular vet wouldn't take the time to see about. They told me to come right down and they would work me in. I never went back to my other vet. more

Dr. Henke is a WONDERFUL vet. I take all of my animals there and never have any problems. He is caring, friendly, and knowledgeable. I recommend him to all of my friends and family because I know how important finding the right vet is. Critters are family, and at Houston Lake Animal Hospital they treat their patients as if they were their own. Dr. Henke is a great vet. He is very personable and caring towards your pet. I have recommended to many people who have moved to the area. We are very happy with the care our pets have received from him. We have taken our pets to him for 5 years. He is a graduate of UGA Vet School. more
