AVOID IF POSSIBLE!! 4/27/2012

The classes are horrible, because the PROFESSORS are HORRIBLE!!! I do not recommend that anyone take classes in the HCC system. The staff is very frustrating to deal with, as they are lazy and misinformed. I changed campuses twice hoping the location changes would resolve my issues; they didn't. Instructors are slow on grading, most appear like they would rather be anywhere else than on the campus teaching. I have had two professors that work on different campuses suggest that I enroll at U of H and spend the extra money for a better educational experience! I have opted to complete my classes online to avoid going onto campus and dealing with a bunch of morons. more

Hardly a real college 3/26/2012

The classes are pretty terrible. They don't really seem to know much about what they're teaching. The campuses feel pretty dangerous as well. I spent three semesters there before I went to a real college and I tell everyone to go somewhere else to take care of their prerequisites. There are plenty of other community colleges in Houston that are way better, not to mention easier to deal with. These guys are so hard to do business with, they're still bothering me with stuff like years after I was there. Avoid at all costs. more

Exercise your options. 4/26/2009

While my time at HCC was a stepping stone to where I am now, I deeply regret not attending another college. I will always remember my frustration and disgust regarding its student population, student services and care, under staffed and lazy financial aid department, and the staff's total disregard for each individual student. The limited parking made me a competitive vehicular stunt driver, and guaranteed me late and angry on many days of class. These accusations are just a dent when speaking of HCC's procedures. Now at a university, it is clear that HCC forgot who paid the bills. The treatment and care, as well as education, that I receive now is not comparable to that of HCC. I did not know my options while attending HCC, and now wish that I would have gone somewhere else. The tuition was cheap indeed, but I would have paid more to enhance my college experience. Limited parking, angry staff, and a non-existent concern for the student.\r \r Just a brief on my last few days at H more

good for summer school 11/3/2005

I took several summer school classes here, like history and English, instead of taking them at the University where I eventually earned my degree. I liked HCC and would recommend it to anyone. Now that I am out, I think I would even like to teach there. Most of the students want to succeed and the teachers do not have the egos that you find at large universities. I think this is a good choice for students wanting to earn basic college credits. more

You can get your credits here 7/31/2005

Well, you get what you pay for at Houston Community College. You can get your credits, and some of the professors are better than others. But the smell of urine wafts through some of the campus areas and camping can be very difficult at times. There are a lot of campuses, so you can definitely find one that is convenient to you. more
