Best

After a horrible experience with David's Bridal in which they told us one thing over the phone and promptly denied ever saying anything and even blamed my fiance and future mother...

Worst

this store is too small and results in irritating problems... first, their bridal gowns are all kept in plastic bags that are impossible to look through. this means that you are...

See for yourself 5/2/2007

After 9 years my Fiance finally proposed to me. I have been waiting for this day all my life so I wanted everything to be perfect....and of course that means having the perfect dress. Amara, my wedding consultant listened intensively to what kind of gown I want. She is very professional and competent because all the gowns she pulled out were beautiful and similar to my taste. She was very honest and know when the right time to give her opinions. The entire time I was there she comforted me by telling me not to panic or stress out. I felt relaxed and relieved and finally found my perfect dress. more

Best Customer Service 4/19/2007

\r You know that in this business, people that work in these salons has to deal with brides that are anxious, picky and sometimes winy. And knowing one of them (my self), I can admit that?s not an easy job! They need to be extra patient and understanding. I've visited more than 7 bridal salons and tried more than 80 dresses. In House of Fashion Bridal House, I?ve received the best customer service from a sweet loving lady called Yvonne. She has a motherly side of her that is caring at the same time real. You don?t feel being pushed or sold. You can feel that she wants you to be happy. When you buy a dress you buy a feeling. So this salon is that kind of place where you can get a glimpse of your most special night. You won?t regret!\r Pros: Good Selection/ Great Customer Service/ Nice Hearts more

Most attentive bridal salon we visited 4/15/2007

I purchased my bridal gown\r >at House of Fashion on Monday, after a nearly exhaustive search for ""the \r >perfect\r >dress."" Their salon was hands down, the best and most full service bridal \r >salon\r >that we encountered, and we looked at quite a few stores, all over \r >Northern\r >California and Southern Oregon. Yvonne was the wonderful saleswoman who\r >helped us, and she did a wonderful, no-pressure job. And Emma, was THE \r >MOST\r >HELPFUL BRIDAL ASSISTANT anyone could have asked for. The first time I \r >was in\r >the salon, it was a busy Saturday afternoon, and I must have ran her \r >ragged\r >helping me in and out of so, so many dresses, but she never faltered. She \r >just\r >smiled and kept bringing me dresses to try on, helping me in and out of \r >them.\r > She never left my side, if only to retrieve a veil or another dress. \r >And\r >then, when we came back to purchase the dress, (that they so wonderfully\r >ordered in for us, IN RECORD TIME!!!!!) I was lucky enough to have Emma as \r >my\r >dressing assistant again. And I was very impressed with her \r >professionalism and\r >her hard work............I tried to tip her, but she wouldn't accept it!\r >She just smiled and said it was all part of her job. But, as far as I'm\r >concerned, she did above and beyond what is expected. She should be \r >commended!!!!\r >Emma and Yvonne both made my dress shopping experience, just a little bit\r >easier and less stressful. They gave me their advice, without being pushy or overbearing.\r >They did such a great job, with all of their wonderful\r >staff. They really made our bridal gown shopping experience very\r >rewarding........and I am definitely recommending House of Fashion , to anyone who \r >will\r >listen!!!!!!!!!\r Pros: Beautiful store, very elegant, lots of mirrors!! Cons: upstairs dressing area a bit crowded more

Saved our daughters wedding 4/10/2007

After four hours of phone calls trying to find the ""dream dress"", my daughter had fallen in love with in a magazine we got in contact with this shop. They were the only shop who offered to order in the dress without us buying it first or paying half of it. She needed to try it on . No shop in No Calif or So Oregon had the dress in stock. We made a five hour drive to go to this shop and got there without an appointment on a Saturday morning. They were very busy. We had been told a couple of things over the phone which we not exactly store policies. When we ordered the dress and were told it would take four months to arrive we were devistated. The staff quickly realized this and went out of their way to help us. Though we had no appointment and they were busy, someone was quickly assigned to us. Yvonne and Emily were wonderful. They took us upstairs and helped my daughter try on at least twelve dresses in a three hour period. They learned quickly what her likes and dislikes were and worked tirelessly with us. They helped her find a second dress that was a possibility if the ordered one did not arrive in time or just wasn't right. It was the most full service we had experences. We went to a total of eight shops in a month period. The offfice staff held to what we were told on the phone. They called first thing Monday morning to order the dress and called us with the news, the dress would be there in ten days. We went back down this past Monday. The dress not only fit (with just a few alterations) but it is her dream dress and beautiful on her. Once again we were blessed with the very attentive Yvonne and Emily. I can not thank them enough for what began as a very stressful experience. Thank you for going the extra mile and making our dress buying experience wonderful. Yes they appeared to be a bit more expense but not out of our budget. To have the perfect dress is worth it. Pros: full service, friendly staff and willing to work with you, quick delivery Cons: a bit higher priced and five hours from where we live-very busy more

BEWARE! Retched cust service, pushy, NO PRIVACY. Legal issues 3/27/2007

This place has dresses and in that they do ok, but they are pushy, rude, arrogant, and will walk right in and open up your dressing room while you are changing! I was humiliated because of these people. Beware, if you want self respect go elsewhere! Pros: None to speak of; selection is only average Cons: Rude, arrogant, extremely pushy, humiliating experience as they will walk right into changing rooms while you are undressing! more

Good choice! 3/8/2007

I went to House of Fashion not expecting much, based on reviews here. But it was worth a try...\r However, it was wonderful - I brought in clips of things I liked in dresses - rouching, lace-up backs and a sweetheart neckline. They had almost every dress in my clips, and knew what they were even with only a tiny part of the whole dress. They were lovely, but a little over my budget and not 'perfect'...but then she brought me a *new* dress with everything I wanted. Absolutely perfect. And 200 under my budget! And they were nice enough to sell it to me off the shelf. There's no way I would be able to find such a good-quality perfect dress so soon before my wedding. \r I may get alterations somewhere else as not many are needed and I think that HOF's may be a bit overpriced. But I'm very happy with my experience here.\r Advice: make an appointment! You need one...and bring pictures of dresses or parts of dresses you like. Pros: off the shelf dresses, honest advice, huge selection, can be affordable Cons: alterations overpriced, can get busy, appointment required more

beware of alterations........ 2/19/2007

not only is the quality of their service marginal, but beware of the alterations! The biggest problem that stuck out for me was the unethical and dishonest manner in which they get the alteration business/prices. They give brides a flyer quoting a 90.00 price for basic alterations and a verbal quote in person at the store when we were there of 35.00 for bridesmaide dresses. Now, realizing that that price can very in that ballpark depending on the type/amount of alteration needed you expect some sort of truth to their quotes. My bride got charged over 260.00 for her strap shortening and hem.....I was charged 177.00 for a basic hem and taking in of a simple a line skirt and strapless top bridesmaid dress. Not really in the ballpark price that was mentioned....now after the fact it seems to me they inflate the price and are not upfront/honest about how and what they charge. The horror stories from other brides that I now have heard from other shops as I investigated this was also alarming! Be careful and shop around! Pros: selection Cons: cust serv, truth in alteration pricing, quality more

Great Customer Service!!! 1/27/2007

Yvonne and Emily at House of Fashion bridal shop were great!!! They worked with me to find a discontinued veil, when other bridal shops through out the USA wouldn't take the time to even find out if that was possible. They called the veil designers headquarters and were able to find out that the veil was indeed able to be ordered. Yvonne and Emily kept me informed every step of the way, and even sent me pictures via e-mail of the veil. Yvonne, Emily, and staff were great and I will recommend them to everyone I know! Pros: Great customer service. Friendly Staff!! more

In and Out.....Found exactly what I wanted 10/19/2006

I went in once by myself and had a hard time finding someone to help and stay helping me in the bridesmaid dress area. Then I went back with my mom for my Bridal Dress appt and the lady that helped us was amazing! She listened to everything that I was looking for in a dress and then when I told her I hate looking threw the racks she went out and brought me dress after dress. I ended up finding my dress the first time I even went to look for it. The sales lady was fun and encouraging and we really enjoyed ourselves. I have made a day to bring in all my bridesmaids to try on and buy their dresses in Nov so we'll see how it goes. I'm a little worried about the alterations since we haven't gotten to that point and I have read the above reviews. But so far so good. I have had a great time there! I guess the earlier the better so you don't have to stress when your dress comes in a little later then expected. Brides need to take that into consideration so they don't have to stress when it happens1 :0)\r \r OK, So I just got done with my Bridesmaid Dress buying this weekend! I went so great. The only thing that was a little annoying was once again it was dificult to get someone to help us and stay helping us. Everytime we turned around the girl was off helping someone else. They really need to have appt's for Bridesmaid dresses too. I mean we were all there to purchase and they couldn't care less. But we found what we wanted and made all our orders. The young girl who was sizing my bridesmaids sized them all wrong. When we asked her about it she just said thats the way the book tells me to do it. We had to try on the sizes to prove she was way off. That was a little frustrating. But we ordered 5 bridesmaid dresses and 3 flower girl dresses so it's nice to have a one stop shop. They really need to work on customer service. All in all it was fine. Now we just have to get through alterations! Pros: Lot's of selection Cons: No customer Service more

THE WORST! 9/18/2006

I went in for my first fitting for my wedding dress, an experience that is supposed to be both exciting and joyous. Instead they brought out my dress and I emmediately knew it did not look the same as the sample dress I fell in love with and purchased. The sales ladies buzzed around me TRYING to convince me it looked exactly the same, but I was not fooled! They brought out the sample dress after I had to ask them to, and my dress was definately different. Everything from less beads, different (cheaper) beads, embroidery not completed, crystals sewn on incorrectly, MISSING crystals, the side seams were done so badly that part of the embroidery design was sewn into the seam and you coudn't see the whole design and the waist line was done totally different than the sample dress. All of this they blamed on ""artistic differences"". I told them for a dress I paid over $4000 for, I didn't want any ""artistic differences"". Initially they were going to try to fix the dress themselves as best they could. Then they decided to get Eve of Milady involved to fix it, since they made the dress. So my dress has been shipped to New York 5 weeks before my wedding. Eve of Milady PROMISED me they would call me as soon as they received my dress and that with so many mistakes they would more than likely replace it. So far I've received no phone call, and House of Fashion tells me they won't replace the dress but instead try their best to fix it. I told them they can keep their dress and now I have to scramble to find a new dress.Let's see if House of Fashion refunds my money, I'll keep you posted! I only have 4 weeks til my wedding. Talk about stressful. And I really do believe your wedding dress experience should be private and personal. You feel like bridal cattle in that store and most times it's pure caos in that place. Beware when you get fitted, there are sewing needles littered all over the floor! Take your money elsewhere, I recommend a smaller bridal boutique. Pros: Decent selection Cons: Too chaotic, pushy sales people, unorganized more

Beware Ladies 9/14/2006

I came to this bridal salon specifically because it was the closest that carries the brand name ""Watters & Watters."" I only ordered a bridesmaid dress for myself for my sisters wedding. At first they told me that Watters & Watters didn't have enough fabric to make my dress. I had to make an un-necessary trip to pick a different dress. I was very angry and sent a email to Watters and asked them how a huge company didn't have enough fabric to make a dress. The next day House of Fashion called me and told me that they could make it. Every time I called to check the status on my dress, they couldn't find it or didn't know what I was talking about. The people who work there are nice. But their company is disfunctional and I wouldn't recommend it to a desperate person. Furthermore, my dress isn't available to pick up until 2 days before the wedding even though I told them that I wanted it 2 weeks in advance. These people are disorganized and full of excuses. more

Awesome customer service 8/31/2006

I was wary to go to this store based on these reviews but after searching around Sacramento, discovered, that if you want something done right, you go here. The staff was friendly and accomodating. Further, the alterations done on my dress were amazing and they were able to turn my dress into the dress of my dreams in about a week. They were also able to make my veil, which I could only describe, completely from scratch and it turned out perfect! Other stores attempted to make the veil and it turned out bunched or wrinkled. I thought they were amazing and would definitely recommend them to anyone! more

Surprised at other reviews- They were Excellent! 8/6/2006

I stumbled upon this site and have to say that I was very surprised at some of the reviews about House of Fashion. They were great! My sister found her dress there and it was the best experience for us. We had already been to Bridal Mart, David's Bridal and other salons with terrible luck. The other places were full of pushy sales people with a terrible dress selection. House of Fashion was an answer to prayer. They gave great customer service with and even better dress selection. I plan on getting my dress there and will recommend them to everyone I know. Pros: Selection, Service Cons: nothing! more

Do not waist your time 6/7/2006

I have had a terrible experience working with this company. I do not want any bride to go through what I have gone through. Inicially they were great but the second and third time contacts were aweful. A fast food customer service is better then the customer service I have received here. If your are willing to withstand terrible customer service for a fabulous dress then please go but if you want your wedding dress to be your dream shopping trip I recommend going somewhere else. Pros: selection Cons: customer service more

I would advise you go elsewhere 4/21/2006

I made an appointment at House of Fashion for a Monday to try on wedding dresses. I had people come in from out of town to share the experience with me. The ladies that assisted me brought in approximately 5 dresses and after trying them on and not finding that any of them were right for me they told me my time was up. They provided me 45 minutes to try on dresses. You should be given at least an hour and a half MINIMUM. I did end up ordering my bridesmaid dresses from there since we were all there that day. I would advise you to lie on your wedding date. Say it's a month earlier than it actually is. They told us it would be 6 to 8 weeks to get the dresses, when actually it was 14 weeks. more

User review by oannieo 4/13/2006

Arrived unannounced to see bridesmaids dresses - staff was very accomodating - pulled from stock just what we were looking for - have appointment in a few weeks for bride's dress- will see how it goes Pros: fantastic stock, knowledgeable staff, good parking Cons: small dressing rooms, poor mirrors, crowded more

Good Deals and Lots of selction 4/11/2006

Great place to shop for your gown at. I went to a lot of the other bridal shops in town and they were not as friendly and helpful as this salon. I love the dresses and the knowlagble staff. Pros: Lots of dresses more

they have overgrown their space 2/8/2006

this store is too small and results in irritating problems... first, their bridal gowns are all kept in plastic bags that are impossible to look through. this means that you are at the mercy of the sales woman you are working with. upon finding a dress, you are taken into a dressing room where you, the saleswoman, and the dress cannot possibly all fit into. after they have dragged you out of the tiny dressing room with an unflattering mirror, it means that they will parade you around in front of all the other sales staff to have you look in a proper mirror. this makes it convenient for the entire staff to tell you how wonderful you look, even if doesn't! sadly, if you do find a designer in a magazine that you like it is likely only sold at this store in all of the Sacramento area. Pros: large selection Cons: rude, terrible mirrors more

So far, so good... 1/20/2006

My daughter went here yesterday to look at wedding dresses. They were all more than attentive and helpful. We left after purchase of her wedding dress, mother of the bride and 6 bridesmaid dresses all ordered. Yes, our sales lady for the wedding dress did not speak very good english but she definitly reminded us of the wedding co-ordinator (Martin Short) in Father of the Bride. Such a spitfire that knew here businessfinding the perfect dress. The sales people in bridesmade area were also great...I am surprised of these other reviews bu t will keep you all posted as things progress. Congrats all!! Pros: good parking, great selection, good atmosphere Cons: small dressing areas more

annoying saleslady 1/9/2006

The House of Fashion is really pretty and has a great selection. If you go on a weekday, you will be one of the only people there and get tons of personal attention. But, the saleslady I worked with was so annoying. I brought a pic of an off the shoulder dress and she kept bringing out strapless ones ""because I'm not fat and sleeves are only for fat, old brides"". Finally, she brings out the dress that looks like what I want and it is 1,000 over the price range I told her. She keeps telling my mom that I deserve this dress because I'm a princess. Please! Pros: big selection, pretty, personal attention Cons: rude staff, crowded on weekends more
