Hound Dog Pet Hotel & Spa

First of all, my own dog had a bad time there...I was out of town for a funeral and had to find someplace quick and close...they led me to believe she would have a larger cage like she has at (Top Dog) which my and my dog's favorite place... turns out she was in a small cage. more

We contracted with the Hound Dog Hotel to take care of our dog while we were on vacation. I called to verify that they are able to administer medication as our dog was on 2 different types. I was told that this would be no problem. more

I'm not sure what to make of Hound Hotel. I've been taking my dog there for awhile and find some of the staff extremely friendly and efficient. Other staff members (particularly the gal who owns the bulldog) hmmm...not so much. She acts like every task or phone call is a hassle, and doesn't seem happy with her job. I suggest she find a different line of work--clearly, working the front desk at Hound Hotel isn't her thing. I hate checking my dog in with her; she's very sullen and never smiles. When we went to pick up our pet there was a very large German Sheppard (Poet) that was being checked in and was not very excited about staying there. A few minutes after being checked in this huge dog crashed through the door to the cat day room, the room just to the left side of the lobby with a huge window to view the fun the cats are having. The two black cats in the room at the time were not very excited about the ""visitor"" and most likely injured themselves in their attempts to retreat to higher ground. The one cat fell off the shelf he tried to get to because he could not get a grip and slid off the opposite side. They did manage to get ""Poet"" out after a few minutes but none of the animals involved were very happy about their stay at the Hound Dog Hotel. more

I can't wait until a new boarding kennel opens up for my dog. Unfortunately, I'm still stuck with the Hound Dog. I read the other reviews and thought I should share my last experience. I boarded my dog over Labor Day weekend. At the time of reservation, I was told that I couldn't pick him up on Labor Day because they were closed. On Labor Day, a friend drove by and noticed cars in the parking lot and mentioned it to me. The next day, I left work and drove across town to pick my pup up. I asked the front desk attendant if pick up was available on Labor Day, and she said it had been, but only for an hour. I told her that I would have loved to have my dog a day earlier and that they'd told me when I made my reservation that I couldn't pick him up on Labor Day. She said ""I'm sorry for the miscommunication."" That was it. No sincere apology, no ""Whoops! We really screwed up!"" Nothing. more

We had brought Lily to doggie daycare for about a month. Last time we picked her up she was frantic and within ten minutes started throwing up large pieces of undigested dog food. She also started having bowel problems. I called the Hound Dog with my concerns and they did not respond to my phone call. Five days later we had to bring Lily to the veterinary clinic because she was violently ill. more

I brought our 2 dogs to the hound dog hotel for a week. I thought the facilties seemed nice and it was a newer place. I took a tour and liked it, but I thought it was odd that the woman behind the counter what wearing a nice silk blouse, skirt and boots. If you're working with animals not exactly the outfit I would choose. 1st red flag. more

We received terrible service! We had to go to the pet hotel twice to get her checked in because the person that helped us the first time (admitedly) didn't know what he was doing. When we went back the second time to fill out paperwork the first person forgot to give to us we were yelled at fo purposefully not signing the paperwork. We were hesitant to leave our pet, but were flying out of town and had no options left. When we picked our pet up she and her toys were filthy and she had picked up a cold! When we tried to complain to the management they said they didn't care what we thought and said it was our choice if we didn't want to use their services again - it made no difference to them. They wouldn't even hear out our concerns and complaints. We were very disappointed with The Hound Dog Pet Hotel. Our family decided on this location for boarding our elderly Golden while we were awa for the weekend. Their fliers are very good, and say ""No extra charge for having fun!"" referring to the extra human-time and play the dogs get with caretakers.
