Clean, Quiet & Small 9/26/2007

I stayed at Hotel Chandler last week for 3 nights during the week. The hotel was spotless and the staff was polite. The rooms were the smallest that I've ever experienced in New York so be prepared. I could not roll my bag into the room and had to lift it over the bed to the closet area due to tight space. The hotel offered no dining in the bar area but they do provide take-out menus for the surrounding neighborhood. No frill hotel, polite employees and clean. I'd reside again if my initial hotel preferred options were booked. more

Comfortable but several blocks from subway 4/17/2007

We tried this boutique hotel for a long weekend. Although it met our needs, we would probably not choose it again. Check-in was easy and the bellman very nice. The room was tiny and the bathroom was very small. It reminded me of a small cruise ship cabin with a good amount of drawer and closet space to unpack. It had been recently renovated and they havd maid service twice a day. They had nice linens and very large bath towels. The location is ok, but the subway is several blocks away. It was more expensive than I'd paid for a suite on Time's Square a couple of months before and the comfort and location weren't as good. It's a cute property but didn't meet our needs as well as other places we've stayed. Pros: boutique property with nice linens, free internet Cons: expensive compared to other places I've stayed in the City more

great place for a date. very private and romantic. Pros: intimate , romantic Cons: no cons more

very cool for small parties 1/15/2007

If you are not stuck up and don't have to be in the hippest place in the city this place is a way to go. Pros: lots of attention from the staff , displaying photos on plasma Cons: no food, not crowded, you better like who you came in with more

great service, strong drinks, 1/7/2007

I agreed with a friend of mine to meet at a hotel bar as they are quiet usually and nice for a chat with an old friend. Too bad my friend was an hour late. I pulled out a a book I had for my train ride and started to read. Pros: great atmosphere, great service Cons: no kitchen more

Small, quiet, uncrowded, unaccommodating 1/5/2007

The place is small. About 4 tables and a small bar. We were the only ones sitting at tables. A half-eaten platter of hard cheese and soda crackers sat in a corner. We helped ourselves. Pros: quiet, uncrowded, relaxing Cons: hostile service, somewhat expensive more

stand up comedy in this little joint 1/28/2006

cool place. good happy hour. the comedians were great. thanks guys Pros: happy hour, comedians Cons: small more

yummy cocktails 9/23/2005

i came to relax after work with a couple of co-workers to this friendly bar few months ago. now it is my regular place to unwind. not only do they have yummy cocktails with fresh fruits of all sorts but they serve complimentary cheese and crackers. booths are very cozy and comforatble. the furniture looks different then on this picture. they must have changed it. they have belly dancer on fridays and cool loungie music. if there order the blueberry potion. my favorite! Pros: cocktails, good happy hour, bartenders Cons: not so big more

Sub par 11/10/2003

I stayed there with my mother and maid of honor the night before my wedding. We booked and confirmed non smoking roooms, and when we checked in, the bridal room was booked as smoking. My moh and I left that evening for the rehearsul dinner downtown. The doormen were too busy chatting and watching us to assist us with the doors, nor did they assist us with cabs. We ordered breakfast the night before, and when it never showed up in the morning, they told us that they only had one person in the kitchen. 10 extra minutes turned into 40. Then they charged us $60 for breakfast! Our neighbor was an agitated man yelling at 2 am at his ""wife"". He had to be asked by the front desk to quiet down. Simply put, we spent nearly $500 for tiny, dark rooms, with poorly managed staff/service. Pros: well located, attractive decor, aveda bath products Cons: unprofessional staff, poor management, not worth the rates more

Outstanding! 3/4/2003

I found the hotel Le Marquis outstanding! Exceptionally planned out to provide a elegant, not decadent haven after a busy day in the city. The down comforter and linens, and thick comfortable robe made all the difference. There is a great little bar off the lobby that really caters to their guests. When in New York, this is the only place we will stay! Pros: Decor, Bedding/Linnens, Room Ammenities Cons: No Restaurant more

New York's Secret! 8/23/2002

Just returned from NY after staying the weekend at the beautiful Le Marquis. What a great place! I was pleasantly impressed by the glorious decor, the friendly, accommodating staff, and the spacious, well kept rooms. It was a pleasure to stay at Le Marquis, and it will be my choice to return here next time I visit the great city! Pros: Price, Atmosphere, Service Cons: parking more

Best in the Area 7/12/2002

Working nearby, I've often complained that there's no place to drink that's a BAR, as opposed to Scopa which is annoying and Artisanal which is full of people trying to get a table. I found 12:31 by chance (they should get a big neon sign that says BAR!) Anyway, they have great wines by the glass -- ones that I'd actually order a bottle of -- including Shiraz, which nobody ever seems to offer! I haven't tried the munchies (yet) but the trail mix on the tables was addictive and the atmosphere just right for a mellow drink. Pros: Great wines, Nice bartenders more

Fab-ola 5/22/2002

So I'm an hotel snob and really I can't say anything bad about Le Marquis - it's sexy, shining and I liked it better than some other places in NYC cos it didn't seem like they were trying to be too hip. Everything I needed or wanted I got and the bed (and bedding) is so comfortable - wonder if they sell them. I've now stayed half a dozen times and it's always consistent. Pros: awesome showers, aveda more
