Great rate but closing was late due to poor communication. 2/16/2012

I originally contacted this group about 6 months ago looking for a refinance on my current home. Their fee at that time was one percent. When I locked in 3 months later they had changed their fee to 1.25 but did not inform me of the change. The rate was locked in for 45 days but the closing actually took 60 days with 2 changes in the closing cost due to the delay. Again I was not informed. When I discovered this, they did credit me for the difference. The delay was due to asking for additional information throughout the 45 day lock and even up to 3 days before the last day of the lock in period. The company should know at the start what information will be needed based on the clients financial/investment history. more

Horizon worked well for us as we purchased our first home. They had some of the best rates around. It was easy to communicate with them and they were very professional and at the same time down to earth. There location in Simpsonville was great for getting paper work to them. I felt I received accurate information from Horizon and they didn't try to "hide" costs. It is difficult for the consumer to understand all the closing costs, and I felt Scott and the staff were patient in explaining them. I felt they were honest and also offered competitive rates. more
