I've been here 5+ times over last several years. This visit may become our last... We ordered ""snow pea shoots"" which we love, however, we got something totally different and we...

Good experience 1/15/2007

Cheap, fast and good! How much more could you expect? It was a good experience. However they seem like they don't accept reservations though. more

Best Chinese in town! (organic as well) 9/28/2006

If anyone read the previous post ignor it completely! We went to this restaurant last night and had nothing but a wonderful time and ate the best chinese food I've had here in Utah. So dear wacunt or what ever your posting name is, I need to ask who in their right mind eats dim sum @ 10 am anyway. With the tone of your snooty comments and the lenth of time it took you to get to Salt Lake I imagine that you are coming from Utah county... Well if that's the case this Restaurant is not a chain restaurant and maybe you should try Pf Changs or Panda Express. Pros: A+ Chinese Food, get the snow pea more

Avoid entirely!!! 9/15/2006

Despite the hours of operation to begin at 10 A.M. on the weekends at 10:25 the doors were locked. The hours of operation are posted on the door as opening at 10 and the neon Open sign was lit. The ""manager"" (or so she said when I asked to speak with the manager) was vaccuuming the floors (shouldn't this be done prior to the opening time). My wife and I had traveled 35 miles looking forward to a dim sum experience as listed in the previous reviews. When I knocked at the door and the window, she summarily ignored me while continuing to vaccuum. When I called the number listed on Citysearch the hours were stated the same as on the door and here. She finally came over and I asked what were the hours of operation. She said that she was alone and was frightened thus keeping the door locked. That it was located in a bad part of town and people would come in only wishing to use the washroom. WHAT? This had nothing to do with us. Perhaps because she saw two Anglos she didn't believe that we wished to dine. What a horrendous experience! I guess the moral of today was that to be allowed in during the beginning of the day, one must bring an Asian since us poor Anglos must not enjoy the Dim Sum experience. We have had Dim Sum in a number of West Coast cities and have NEVER had an experience such as this. Beware! Pros: There are no pros Cons: See review more

Best Chinese in SLC 8/15/2006

Authentic. There is a great variety of options, and they receive fresh specialty items regularily. Try the lilly bulbs if available. Don't forget desert - I love the custards. A place to come back. Pros: Authentic, Quality Food and Price Cons: ?? more

Dim Sum! 7/24/2006

I love their dim sum. Very delicious. And if you are adventurous enough you can ask one of the servers what her favorite dishes are and try them. She may recommend chicken feet or something like that, and they are worth trying if you're brave. Their dim sum is pricier than some of the other Chinese restaurants in town, but the service is good and the seating areas are always kept clean. Pros: Good dim sum, friendly servers Cons: parking more

Dim Sum-very Dim 5/28/2006

I tried this place when it first opened, wasn't that impressed. Then recently a couple of friends were raving about it-non chinese friends. So I went back there today-it hadn't improved. Some items are better than other Dim Sum in the valley-taro root, meatball. The staples of Dim Sum wasn't good or even there. They didn't have Haw Gaw Sui Mi. Their Egg Custard Tarts were small and full of yellow food coloring. We were leaving after an hour when they bought out our last two items. The portions are small and expensive. Traditionally they have portions for four, but most were for three. (Could be the number four is bad luck) If you are trying to introduce people to Dim Sum, I would recommend this place. But this is not the place where you want good traditional Dim Sum. Pros: Clean Cons: Bad parking, Average Food, Expensive more

awful 12/10/2005

we went here one time for dim sum after reading a glowing review from the Tribune - and we couldn't believe our tastebuds! The food was terrible - greasy, tasted bad, not the way dim sum should be. this is one of the worst chinese restaurants that i have sampled, here or elsewhere. Cons: awful food, and I have eaten a lot of dim sum in a lot of cities more

I love it 2/3/2005

I've only had dim sum here twice. It was great both times. shrimp balls were great and the stirfried broccoli leaves were fantastic. I don't know about dinner or lunch but sunday dim sum is great. service is great and for 4 we paid $50 for about 7-8 dishes. Pros: authentic, fun, good food more

it's ok 8/2/2004

For the price, it's not worth it. Although it has the best atmosphere of authentic chinese restaurants around, it tries to serve it's dim sum, dishes, and tea northern style - too small. It's trying to give you an authentic feel, but it charges too much for it. Pros: atmosphere, clean more

Best in Utah 6/10/2004

Compares with the best Chinese cuisine in SF, HN, Vancouver, BC. Unbelieveable, having such a treasure in UT. The only Chinese restaurant in town that shows you the live lobster you ordered prior to preparation. A traditional sign of true value to the people in the know. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience more

Absolute BEST 6/6/2004

Hong Kong Tea House is a very inviting place. At the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile by the very strong accented english speaking staff. The food is some of the most authentic available here in the Salt Lake valley. You will be very content with your choice of dining here. Taste, Service, and Price are outstanding! more

A Great Find 5/25/2004

I found this listing and suggested it to my family when we were traveling through Salt Lake City recently. Everyone was pleased: the sesame chicken was a little too sweet, but the honey prawns (actually shrimp) with walnuts was excellent--light and crispy. Don't miss the steamed dim sum platter! Pros: Inexpensive, Plentiful servings, Value more

Incredible! 5/12/2004

I don't think i've ever met a Kung Pao i didn't like....or one that can top theirs! The tea is excellent and perfect temperature. The Shrimp Balls are better than the six + dim sum shops i tried in Chinatown San Francisco...and the atmosphere is so gentle you forget instantly what side of town you're on. Perfectly spiced Spring rolls. Only problem is the kink you'll get in your neck from craning to see other tables' meals, match picture to great smell! Iced Green Tea a must for cold-drinkers. Pros: Open Sundays, Incredible Food, Great Atomsphere more

BEST Chinese in Downtown SLC!! 4/19/2004

This is the best Chinese food in SLC I've had so far! Their Sesame Beef & Chicken is the best in town! They have a HUGE variety, to choose from in their menu as well. The Service was wonderful, & the decorations were beautiful. Pros: Inexpensive, Service, Best Food more

Stick to Dim Sum 6/4/2003

The reason for the mixed review is the disparity between the Dim Sum which is on par with China towns worldwide and the wok dishes which are dismal at best. If this place were to in fact employ a decent wok cook to match their accomplishments with Dim Sum it would be a match for the best in this city. To the owners - please find someone with talent to match your Dim Sum. Pros: Dim Sum, Dim Sum, Dim Sum Cons: Anything but Dim Sum, brush off complaints, disparity of food more

Best Cantonese in SLC! 4/22/2003

Having lived in Asia for many years, this is the closest and best Chinese in Utah! Their dim sum menu is extensive and excellent, as is the rest of their menu. Excellent selection of Cantonese classics and specials. Pros: Excellent Food, Nice Decor, Good Prices more
