Never Again 10/9/2011

This place was suggested by a friend and the resturant was in our area so we gave it a try. We ordered our meal and was served soup and salad which both were fine. When our entree's arrived we started eating, my financee ordered chicken and I shrimp. Hers was fine and mine good except for the shrimp being so over grilled it was extremely tough and hard. I ate several of the shrimp with the rice and vegetables and was hoping not all the shrimp was overcooked. It didn't get any better and that is when I asked our waitress if she could replace the remaining shrimp with ones that were not overcooked, no problem I thought since I am in the customer service business and my customers are what pays my salary. The owner was seated about 10 feet away and told me the shrimp was not overcooked and was fine, she didn't even bother to come to our table and look at the shrimp. I told her the shrimp was extremely overcooked and to just bring me some more. She then told me the shrimp was fine again, still didn't come over and look at my food, that is when I told the waitress to just take my dish off the table and never mind about replacing the shrimp. My financee then asked for a box to put her remaining dish because we were so dissatisfied with the whole experience we just wanted to leave. I got to the register to pay and informed the owner that I would not be paying for my entree, yes I would pay for my salad because I had enjoyed it but definitely would not pay for the rest of my food and my financee's food. Again the ower became so rude to us and would not listen to what I was saying, her remark that made me so upset was, "" You ate half the shrimp and shoud pay for the meal"". Trying with all my might not to scream at her, I told her I am only paying for my salad and my financee's meal, she still was arguing with me when she rang me up I just told her to just tell me what i owed and not to say anything else to me. I have traveled most of my life and had many dining experiences in the US and abroad and have never been treated this way before. I will never go back to this place and will tell everyone about my experience. I have never complained this way before but was just feed up with customer no service and being called a liar from someone of this owners caliber. more

First and last time at this place 10/9/2011

We dined at Hirano's on Abercorn for the first time last night. The place is small and not very inviting. We were seated, placed our order and our food was brought out in a timely fashion. The soup and salad was fine. Our entrees were brought out. We ordered one chicken dish and one shrimp dish. The shrimp were definitely OVERCOOKED. We ate a few of the shrimp then told our waitress that the shrimp were overcooked and could we get some to replace these. She immediately looked over to the cash register to an older lady who we found out was the owner of this location. The owner came over and was very rude in talking to us. She said we had eaten a portion of the shrimp and that it was not overcooked. She offered to do nothing. We paid for dinner and left. We will never go back to this place again. The owner is the rudest person I have ever encounted in a business setting. What happened to customer service, especially with a legit complaint. I will certainly tell anyone who is thinking of going to this RUDE old womans resturant to think twice.... stay home and eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich instead. more

Worse place to go for sushi in Savannah 2/11/2011

I work very close to this resteraunt and I drive many miles away now for Sushi or Terriyaki because I am tired of giving this place chances. The food is consistantly terrible and flavorless. The girl usually working the register is rude and obnoxious. Do not confuse Hirano's Southside with the Hirano's on Habersham Street. Southside is a different owner and the food on Habersham is 100x better. Just avoid this place. Or if you go, be sure to check out their health inspection form for some interesting reading.... more

Good food, reasonable prices 8/25/2006

Two locations -- the original on Habersham and a newer one on Abercorn near Armstrong. Both have good grill selections at a reasonable price. The sushi is better at the Habersham location. Also, the Abercorn location is very, very small so it's not a great choice for large groups. One downside -- they are no longer serving alcohol (at least they weren't in July 2006). Pros: Good grill food, good sushi, reasonable prices Cons: Abercorn location is very, very small; no alcohol served more
