Houstons' service 12/24/2011

We are great Houstons' customers, love the food and service is usually great, last evening we had stone crab appetizer and then had ribs, what we missed was a warm towel or finger bowl to rinse off, first the crab, then after the ribs, in the past it always came automatically. The 4 of us left with sticky fingers and it was our friends' first time to our favorite restaurant. We are in Mount Dora but the trip into Winter Park is always worth it, I hope it was just an oversight last night not something they've done away with! Thanks, Janet McHugh more

Exceptional Dining 9/27/2010

If I were a millionaire, I'd eat at Houston's every day. :) The atmosphere, service and food is superb. Everything --appetizers, main course, dessert, wine -- is just perfect. Also, they don't charge a corking fee if you bring a bottle that is not served in-house. I left happy and ready for my next visit! more

Great Steaks Meet Contemporary Architecture 8/30/2010

I love Houston's. After our first visit, it immediately became our GoTo spot for celebrating deals or schmoozing new clients. Honestly, I'll look for any excuse to visit Houston's, it's just that good of an experience. The first thing you notice at Houston's is the incredible design of the building. It has an open ceiling which reveals wood beams that reach outward and upward over a lake. A glass partition is the only barrier between diners and the waterfront. A pathway leads out to a dock and I witnessed nearby residents arriving in their boat (hell yeah!) The kitchen is open and reminiscent of Hell's Kitchen with lots of cooks buzzing about. And the food is always fresh and delicious. Beware, popular dishes sometimes run out -- like their to-die-for NY strips. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with upscale food in a casual, yet tremendous, setting. more

Great food! 9/15/2008

Houston's in Winter Park Florida has always been a favorite of mine. The food is great and the service is good most of the time. I usually order one of their tasty burgers and fries and on special occasions I'll order some of their mouth-watering barbecued baby-back ""fall of the bone"" ribs. Some great appetizers to look for are the spinach artichoke dip and chips and the smoked salmon which comes with crackers and tartar sauce.\r The entrees and appetizers are pricey but it's worth it. My only complaints is that it's often very crowded and you have to wait a while to be seated. The service is usually good but once in a while your food takes longer then usual to get to you.\r In conclusion, Houston's is a wonderful restaurant and is perfect for dates and other special occasions (such as birthdays). Pros: Great entrees and appetizers Cons: Long waits on busy days, service is sometimes slow, often crowded and as a result it's hard to find a place to park. more

Great service in a very casual atmosphere. The food is always tastey and never is cooked and or prepared differently. Consistent taste! Prompt service on weekends tend to be slow for seating and food! Price is worth the taste and quality of food. Pros: Food is always good Cons: Crowded on weekends more

The guy that did not know how to write in anything but capital also knows nothing about taste. Houstons will be around alot longer than Flemings. Everyone I know that has eaten at Flemings says its ""OK"" but nothing special. Your probably some little yuppie s-c-u- m who thinks they know something about flavor when you don't even have a pallet. By the way, its Flemings not Roy Flemings. Your probably the same Loser who thinks Del Frisco is better than Ruth's because Jonathan Morgan hangs out there. Flippin HubDub. Went here for dinner last night after reading some yelp reviews and had a great meal. We started off w/ the smoked salmon appetizer which a huge portion and really tasty. I ordered the thai steak salad (w/ avocados, mango, noodles, peanuts) which was really good but very spicy so be careful. My bf order the ny strip w/ mash potatoes and a side of cole slaw ? everything was awesome, we definitely overate but I don?t care, it was all really good. Service was fast and friendly. Have tried the eggless caesar salad, chili, burgers and fries. All were excellent. Ambience was terrific, service is friendly and efficent. Crowded much of the time however due to its popularity. more

What a joke. 5/15/2006

Not worth the time, and that is if you can find parking. Typical chain fare, extremely overpriced, and poor service. Server both aloof and rude, food (ribs) were cold upon delivery, as were drink glasses empty for a majority of the meal. Many vacant tables on the floor, with a 30 minute wait; this place screams of poor management. View was good - but there are plenty of places you can watch a sunset and not pay $30+ per person. Orlando has many great restaurants for a romantic meal, this is not one of them. Pros: View, Wine List Cons: Slow, Rude Service, $13 Hamburgers?, Parking more

My wife and I love this place. The food is always great and you just can't beat that view of the lake. Try the knife and fork ribs, they just fall off the bone, the artichoke dip is a favourite too. They have managed to get the price at just the right level for this kind of restaurant unlike some of the other steak places that are around Winter Park which are WAY over priced.
