Hillcrest Animal Hospital

I've taken my stray dog TJ to Dr. Mayo (nee Wright) for over 10 years. She really has a wonderful manner and the Vet Techs there do as well. TJ is usually nervous when we get there - he's a Jack Russell Terrier. He's almost always at ease when the techs and Dr. Mayo handle him for weighing, tests, shots, nose drops, etc. \r \r TJ had a reaction to the rabies shot a few years ago. He started losing hair in the area where the shot was given. I took him back to Dr. Mayo. She checked him over and noted that he should get a different vaccine (noted it in his chart). She gave him a steroid injection to help with the inflamation. \r \r It's not the cheapest place to get meds. Having a caring vet to take my dog has been helpful. Most vets aren't cost effective for meds. I've never asked for the Rx to fill elsewhere as I've not had pets with long term needs like that, except for flea and tick meds and now I get Frontline elsewhere.\r \r Even though I've moved out of Bartlett to Midtown, I still take TJ there. I trust Dr. Mayo. When TJ's blood work comes back from his annual visit a few weeks ago, Dr. Mayo called with the results herself and shared concerns and a follow up request. Since he had bloodwork the last 3-4 years (he's ~13 years old), she was able to see if there were any recurring issues.\r \r The exam rooms have been clean during visits. The waiting room is kept clean, too. \r \r I grew up on a dairy farm so I've met a lot of vets. Dr. Mayo is wonderful. more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! was quoted 53.50 for a puppy exam shots and worming- did not get shots was charged 75 for exam and fecal test- WHAT A RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!! lakeland animal has a 119 puupy package that includes all shots exams and worming treatment and tests-- LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID ----- DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

the vets here are the best! I love how caring they are. They are always so loving and make sure the animals are not scared. downside never board your animal here :( i had to have my cat declawed n he was boarded over night. when i came to get him he was covered in the shredded newpaper they used to his litter box and poo and urine all over him i was so pissed. This is a great place. I have a sickly dog and they have saved his life several times. They have even come in after hours to help my poor little pug. They are always caring and compassionate. Dr. Ledbury always goes the extra mile. We have been going there for years. I have always had great service and I will never go anywhere else. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. more

Hillcrest is the BEST!\r \r Dr. Cary ledbetter is a caring and very involved Vet and he has taken care of my 5 (now 9) GSD's for over three years and has always shown professionalism and his staff are wonderful.\r \r I give them a thumbs up all the way. more

when my vet closed, i went to hillcrest. My dogs had shots and surgergy there and all was fine. Untill i boarded my dogs there for 1 week. When i came to get them my dog has poo dried on her butt , where she couldn't go poo. It took me forever to get her clean. This isn't a dog that would ever use the restroom in the house. Who knows what this place did to her, I even paid extra for inside and outside run, there is no way she had a run, she was crated and they never cleaned it, Cons: not a loving place for your animals more

Dr. Wright is the best! We moved out of the city and tried a new vet, but ended up staying with Hillcrest, even though it is quite a drive. more

A friend of mine used this place to board her pet, she thought that the place was a safe haven to board. She got a call stating that her pet accidentaly slipped out of the run and was attacked by another dog and killed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be advised NEVER EVER to board your pets there!!! more

This place is quick to get you into a vets room from the waiting room, but when you're in there, they don't rush you out. All the vets are very good about answering any questions you may have about raising your pet. Their rates are very reasonable as well. more

I have been taking my pets (my kids) here for years. They have always been helpful, courteous and professional since the day I took my first kitty. They have never given me a reason to take my business elsewhere, even when they introduce new veternarians! Highly recommended! more

I have been using these vets for 6 years. The doctors and staff are friendly and caring. I feel like he is well taken care of when I board him with them. I don't know how they compare price-wise but the office is very convenient and homey. more
