I like 58 Hwy Hospital ,Dr. Brock is the best! I have been going there for years. They have spay a couple dogs for me ,and done a few C-sections and they will answer your questions about cost. Most people are poor, but want the best for their Pets and they have never let me down.\r \r lkloctober more

To socutecarmie It is not unusual for a cat or dog to not be given pain meds to go home with after neutering. Most places will tell you how much liquid Benadryl to give them according to their weight.....if something is needed. I've found pain meds are rarely given for neutering. To Crystal D. You're telling us you went there for 18 yrs before you decided it wasn't the place to go? Wow! You're trusting them 18 yrs speaks louder to me than the one situation where you were unsatisfied. I've been there a couple of times and had no complaints so far. But I don't 100% trust anyone with my pets. After they are diagnosed, I will go home and do a search to see if the treatment they are giving is the typical or right treatment among most doctors. (I guess that's my way of getting a 2nd opinion.lol)But I do feel safe in saying they have to love animals and people. Otherwise, why would they offer their services at such a low reasonable price? They know some people can't afford huge office visit charges and they care enough to make it possible for those people to get the animal care they need. They could charge higher prices and put that money on a big elaborate building and/or in their pocket. I'm thankful they are there for us who can't afford to pay much. I am very picky about my dogs and cats. If anything was wrong, I wouldn't take them there regardless of how low the price! But I would take mine back to the Highway 58 Animal Hospital. more

Definitely the cleanest, most caring kennel I have researched and been in. I am very knit picky about where I leave my dog. She is vicious for strangers and emotionally attached. I have seen the kennels and how they treat the dogs and I was wary at first because of the outside upkeep of the building. However, the inside is immaculate and there are always plenty of staff on hand and a doctor ready to check your animal. They are the most humane and caring clinic I have seen so far and now I will not take my dog anywhere else. They plan on moving to a cleaner larger facility soon. I highly recommend this hospital and clinic over ever other I've seen in Chattanooga and Nashville. more

Best vet we've ever been to 10/1/2012

This vet was great, he gave us options, he understood what we could afford, the staff were very helpful helping us bring our 80lb dog in & out on a gurney in the pouring rain. The vet told us the truth, didn't sugar coat it, yet was kind. Rare find, we just moved to town so this hosp was a lucky find. Reasonable rates which we appreciated the most in these tough economic times.\r Thanks everyone there. more

They do not know what they are doing. 12/17/2011

I?ve been going to this vet for 18 years, but I won?t go back. I brought my dog in because he was yelping when I picked him up. They did an xray and told me it showed a ?mass? in his abdomen. By the look on the vet?s face, I could tell he thought it was serious. He suggested I come back in a couple of days and get another xray and an ultrasound. Pros: null Cons: null more

My animal in need of serious attention 7/8/2011

The crew at the Hwy 58 Animal Hospital is more than I had hoped for when my Cat became very ill. These guys truely care deep down for animals and not so much taking peoples pockets. I can not express my graditude for saving my little buddy. Will never trust any other Vet opperation in Chattanooga. more

To Terrible Experience 6/26/2011

I have been taking my dogs to 58 hwy since they were pups and if they came back with any kind of scabs or fleas or anything else out of the ordinary it was because the pet owners don't bathe their pets or take them into the vet to get checked out. These vets always take care of my dogs and if you don't want to have your dog or cat dirty when you pick them up, they do offer to bathe your animal for a minimal fee which i think is very reasonable, especially if they are going to stay there more than 3 days. I always bathe my dog before taking him in and if i feel that we are going to stay away a little longer than usual, i have them bathe him and trim his nails etc. Don't blame the vet for your laziness. He needs constant checkups. Animals get allergies just like humans and sometimes they need medication also. If your dog had a boo boo on his hiney, you should have taken him back as soon as you saw that the boo boo was growing within days. more

Excellent Vet, fine man. 3/1/2011

The time had come for our old Max to play in greener pastures. Dr. Shepard came to our home and eased our pup on his way. Dr. Shepard's genuine compassion, kindness, and skills are simply the best, and we thank him from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you, Dr. Shepard. more

Mr. Peter Maurer 1/18/2011

Dr. Whitiker literaly saved the life of my then 11 year old pit bull who was dieing from cancer. Xena's mass cell tumors were on 13 spots on her entire body. \r He spent over 4 hours in surgery with her, and she made it to her 13 th. birthday and beyond. He gave me back my wonderful dog for another 2 years of good quality life.\r Dr. Shepherd also was as kind and compassionate with my new little bulldog. The staff, the little small building they operate from, all give the sence of people who have been there a long time, and not in the business just for the money.\r I would never bring my animals anywhere else. more

Great Vet's 12/12/2010

I have been using Hwy 58 Animal Hospital for years.Dr. Shepard is wonderful, he was so kind and understanding when we had to put our peke down that we had for 10 years. We take our other 3 dogs there...they are great.I love VIRGINIA she is just a wonderful person and you can really tell she loves those animals. more

Terrible experience! Loving owners, take pet elsewhere! 10/25/2010

Hwy 58 Animal Hospital is completely incompetent. I have given them chance after chance to get it right with my dog, but they always cut corners to save time and just get you out the door. more

Couldn't be better 5/5/2010

Dr. Shepherd is a wonderful vet. He talks to us, explains everything, offers options, and genuinely likes us and our pets. I can recommend Hwy 58 Animal Hospital with no reservations. Thanks, Dr. Shepherd, for taking care of Chula, Biscuit and Tidbit, and to your warm and welcoming staff. I look forward to your moving to the new facility in the future. more

Dr.Shepard is GREAT!! 4/10/2010

The first time I went here, I drove past it, bc its such a small building(and it sits off the road) the building.decor definetly needs updating, BUT as long as Dr.Shepard is here we will continue to go here. He is the best! He really cares about your animals! \r Though I've only seen one of the other docs here(his bedside manner, if u will, was nothing like my first visit with Dr.Shepard) my puppy is great and well taken care of...i recommend Dr.Shepard!!! more

I love these guys 3/2/2010

I had a dog that was older and we knew the time would be coming to make a tough call but we wanted to wait until it had to be done. She kept having accidents in the house and we took her to Dr Shepard. At first he said with her age and being spayed lets try antibiotics and meds and after a week if that doesn't help bring her back. Well that seemed to help for about a month but the accidents came back. When we returned he did an xray and ultrasound. He took a urine sample to mail off and see what it showed. When he first did the ultrasound he couldn't really see much but after filling her bladder to get the urine he did a second ultrasound. After that ultrasound he came in and showed us what he saw. There was a tumor on her bladder wall. Many vets would have not even done the second ultrasound and sent off the urine and charged us for all of that. Dr Shepard did not charge for the urine or the ultrasound. He was one of those vets that truly does care for the animals! He realizes that pe more

Great! 1/27/2010

I am very please with this vet. They have been more than helpful with my roommate's puppy and my aging aussie. While their decor might be off-putting, don't let the looks deter you from giving them a try. They're wonderful and really care about our animals. more

Hwy 58 Animal Hospital is 7/7/2009

a very great and wonderful place for your dogs and cats. We bought a puppy off of craigs list and quickly realized she had a problem. She had massive sores under her fur and seemed very meek and loving nature. We know now she was just under the weather. My mother told me to try the hospital after she had been using them for her cat for years. I did and was soo pleased at the care in which they lavished on our poor Maggie. After some Medicine and continued care (at a surprisingly low cost I might add) she is up and running with the big dogs! I am proud to say I use Hwy 58 vet hospital, and am boarding her there for our trip we are taking for 5 days! I will continue to recommend them to everyone, their friendly service, their low cost, and their love of the animals. more

Voice of experience! 5/31/2009

I have been using Hwy 58 Animal Clinic for years. My 14 year old Cocker (Tiffany) has been going there since she was born. When I moved across town, I tried several other clinics, but ended up going all the way across town to go back to Hwy 58. The doctors and staff are very friendly and concerned about Tiffany. The doctors always spend all the time I need to make sure I understand what is going on and what I need to do. They have the best service, and they never try to rip me off financially like most clinics do. That's why I continue to travel all the way across town, and will continue to. Pros: Great service, prices and staff. more

My Boxers are Happy! 3/18/2009

Sorry, I thought this was a comment for Wolftever. Anyway, This boarding facility is fairly new and I have boarded my dogs 3 times. I love the fact that they have a few creature comforts like the dog couches, outside runs, discount for 2nd pet boarded, and great play yard. We can't wait til it gets warmer so they can try the built in swimming pool. I was boarding at my vet (somewhere else) and paid more money than I pay now, for my 2 dogs to be in separate cages with no runs and they had a very small yard to potty and play. I really like this facility and they will soon have day care. My younger boxer girl will come to day care very soon. Staff is very nice and they love the dogs. Would highly recommend!! more

Loved It 2/23/2009

This is the first time I've had a pet in my adult life, so I didn't really know where to go as far as vets were concerned. I took a stab in the dark and tried Hwy 58 Animal Hospital, simply because it's close to where I live. I have to say I was a little taken back by the way it looked when I first walked in, but quickly realized that was not important in helping my dog. The staff there was so caring and showed a lot of patience with my very shy Peke. I was very satisfied with the care he received and plan on making this my permanent vet. more

I loved my experience here! 2/9/2009

We switched to this vet after going to Wolftever Animal Hospital. We found the staff here was more concerned about our dog's health and well being rather than spending all the money on decorating. While I do feel some updating is needed in their office, I realized whats really important is how we were treated and what we paid. They were affordable and friendly and spoiled our dog with affection and treats! To sum it up, I was very impressed with their service and I am very happy we have found THE VET for our pet's future care. more
