Delicious home-made ice cream! You think ice-cream is just ice-cream until you come to Herrell's. It's just so creamy and cold, it tastes perfect. I just cannot describe how good ...

Worst

The surly waitstaff make me feel like I'm back in San Francisco. The sweet cream is a damn fine selection, but the place is pretty expensive. The smallest mix-in dish you can get ...

Herrell's Ice cream terrible experience in Harvard Sqaure 5/13/2007

Terrible experience.\r I went there with my wife 2 year old daughter and sister-in-law. \r The place was dirty. Really dirty, paper cups, crumpled napkins and spilt ice cream on the table, floor and counter tops, and the place smelt like urine, obvious, the staff working there could care less about hygine of the place. The smell coming from the vault room was awful. We order my daughter a kiddie cup, for $2 we a rip off more of a taste than anything and then as she was about to dig in we found a hair, we threw out the ice cream. But hey the staff did give us a $1 off coupon. I can not recommend this place for ice cream unless you car for food posioning Cons: pretty dirty place more

great ice cream, crappy service 8/26/2005

If service with a smile is what you're looking for, forget about the Harvard location. Otherwise, the ice cream is some of the best on the east coast. You gotta try the Smoosh-in, especially with the hard yogurt if you like yogurt. Delicious!!! Don't let the snobby Harvard attitude deter you from enjoying every last bite. more

Perhaps the best ice cream you will ever taste 8/4/2005

Yes, it's a small place. Yes, the line is sometimes long, especially in warmer weather. Yes, it's a tad more expensive than, say, Baskin-Robbins or something similarly generic. Having said that, it's worth it --- worth the wait, worth the price. The ice cream is simply the best I have ever tasted in decades of ice cream sampling. In my mind, no trip to Harvard Square is complete without a stop at Herrell's. Pros: best ice cream, quirky vibe, brilliant patrons Cons: forget parking, expect a line more

Mmm...frappes galore 8/25/2002

Herrell's can make a frappe (or milkshake, as they're called where I come from originally) with fro-yo and skim milk -- and it's still too thick to drink through a straw. An ever-changing list of fabulous flavors makes this great for everyone. Yum! more

creamy, delicious 7/24/2002

I love this ice cream! Herrell's is open fairly late and its the perfect after-dinner snack. They offer lots of different options for treats--from different flavors, smoosh-ins, toppings, etc. The place is also laidback and fun. more

awesome ice cream 6/12/2002

this is such good ice cream. gotta get a smoosh-in, where they smash the toppings into the ice cream. choice seats are in the old bank vault, which is painted like a fish bowl. great little nook for a romantic treat. more
