In love 12/24/2010

Don't pass this restaurant up! 5/17/2010

Where has this place been all my life? We were in visiting from the Illinois/Wisconsin border. We both love the Milwaukee and Chicagoland restaurants, BUT ..... this place is paradise! Loving cajun food we decided to dive right in for the Wed night crawfish boil , which started off with a cornbread that is ""Slap your Mama"" good! Yup...that good! Asked for another basket of the darn stuff. When the crawfish, corn and potatoes arrived it was camera worthy. As we were emailing pic's to friends and family, I decided to try the corn. WOW.....I never thought corn could be a weapon of mass destruction.! The corn held all the ""heat ""from the spices (unlike the crawfish and potatoes.) But for people who love their Cajun food, you all know this is taste bud bliss. Flames were nicely extinguished by my very attentive waitress who rushed to my side to cool my tongue down with their wonderful Louisiana Beer called Andy Gator. Need I say more!. We had several other restaurants in the area we wanted to check out, but were convinced there could be no better! Went back 3 more times until we were force to return back North. Pros: Super food, super people, super service Cons: Their closed on Sundays more

A good time 11/2/2009

I love Henry's ! The food is outstanding , always is . Henry lets you know he appreciates your business by walking around and talking to customers. Henry was even out serving people in the cold at the taste of Acworth (food was great then too ). This is for sure one of my favorite local places to eat at . Pros: Delicious Cons: like any downtown area, limited parking more

Great food, good service 2/8/2009

Henry's is great! Try the Louisiana Ooh La La, it is absolutely incredible. Definitely worth a drive if you don't live in Acworth. Pros: The food is great! Cons: It can be a little noisy, but, have you ever eaten in New Orleans? more

Wacky Henry, good food, impeccable but friendly service.... 10/22/2008

We've been going to Henry's since shortly after it opened, back when Henry, his wife, and his kids (then very little) practically lived in the place. Henry's quickly garnered a following. (It's not uncommon to see license plates from 10 or more counties parked up and down the street.) Food is very good and service quick and friendly. Despite having to wait on weekend nights for a table, once seated, diners never feel pressured to finish up and leave. Henry, whose chef's attire gets wilder by the week, personally greets guests at every table with his trademark opening line, ""Welcome to my home!"" and keeps his wait staff hopping. (I hear that he's a perfectionist both in the kitchen and out front; his young waiters know that he will tolerate nothing less than their best.) Portions are above average and guests can make substitutions without getting annoyed looks from the wait staff: For example, for one of the pasta dishes,I always substitute linguini for the angel hair pasta, which can be overcooked and sticky in any restaurant. One evening, my husband and and I, as well as two other couples, made a meal of appetizers. We ordered two of each, sat back with our generous drinks, and enjoyed a tasty variety. I've never had ""room"" for dessert at Henry's, but my husband and our friends all rave about them, as the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Pros: Friendly service, good food, variety of price points to suit every wallet. Cons: Dining room can be a bit noisy. more

Great Food - Great Atmosphere 5/31/2008

I absolutely love the food. My husband loves the Ooh La La - I love it all. They have some wonderful specials. You have to get there early or you will definitley have a wait - but it is well worth it. I have visited a lot of cajun restaraunts, but this is by far the best ever! The staff is very accomadating and the chef is always there to make sure that you are satisfied with your service and food. It takes a true cajun to have a succesful cajun restaraunt and we have found the perfect place! Pros: Great Food! Surrounded by Great Shopping Cons: Make reservations or get there early more

Cajun food at it's best outside of Louisiana 5/15/2008

I can't say enough about how good the food was. I've already recommend this place to 5 people and I only ate there last night. Cons: I understand reservations are a must on a weekend night more

Great food - fun atmosphere 12/3/2007

We went on a Saturday night. I highly recommend reservations as even with a reservation, we were seated 30 minutes after arriving; however, while waiting for a table, we ordered drinks from the bar. The bartender was very friendly and the service was quick. Lots of LSU fans at the bar and everyone seemed to be having a great time. While waiting, Chef Henry also came out and greeted guests and checked on the service out front. Pros: service and the food are both great Cons: some of the signature drinks are too sweet, but still tasty... more

Unreliable Catering and Unethical Behavior 11/26/2007

I had always loved Henry's food, so I asked them to cater my wedding in July of 2007. They provided me with the menu options and the price per guest after a while, and I said great...please send me a contract to sign....And they never sent the contract to me, but we had lots of conversations about it over the past 4 months. And now on November 26th, 2007...4 months later they called to tell me that they got a better, bigger offer, and ""we just don't have the man power to do both""....Thanks for dragging your feet for 4 months, and leaving me high and dry to find another caterer...I hope there is a good one left at this point!!!!!! Cons: Unreliable, Unethical service more

CAJUN FOOD ------- O T P 9/20/2007

Great food - great low key atmosphere -- Pros: good food, solid service - Cons: parking - ventilation more

Flavors spot on. 8/2/2007

Went there for a lunch on 08/02/07. Ordered the Oh-la-la and the Bayou Cake (lunch, not appetizer). Being somewhat a culinary aficionado, it takes a bit to impress me. I do have to say this place was definitely on the list of better places to eat in Acworth and the general surrounding area. The prices are reasonable and the food was spot on -- all the people who claim to 'know' what Louisiana food is supposed to taste like and then turn up their nose at this place don't know what they're talking about. They do have a few classic dishes and some nuevo-cajun stuff, which I particularly enjoy. The cake was tender, the seafood was fresh, and the seasonings weren't overpowering -- they added a nice depth of flavor and plenty of warmth. The service was polite and very attentive -- my drink was never half empty. Pros: Prices, Quality of Food, Service Cons: Busy downtown area, not enough seating more

Good Food, Great Prices 11/7/2006

This was 3 weeks ago so it's not too fresh, but 1 reviewer is correct in saying the selection of true louisiana cuisine is limited. Mostly a Southern favorites menu. But I have to say the food was extremely good and the portions adequate. My date had the etouffee and I the ooh la la. The prices can't be beat. Service was very good and slightly informal which I prefer. Just a bit on the noisy side from the size of the crowd. After the meal, the cook, I assume owner, maybe Henry himself, came out to greet us and check about the meal and service. I consider this to be a class act. Pros: Food, service and prices Cons: Kind of noisy more

Henry's of Acworth 8/19/2005

Henry's may not beat a ""real"" cajun restaurant from Louisiana but it's pretty darn good. Monday nights are your best bet for prompt seating. Get there before 6PM or after 9PM. It gets crowded in between. Personally, I think the food could use more spice to kick it up a notch. more

Henry's is an Acworth Favorite!!!! 8/12/2005

It couldn't get any better if you were in the French Quarter in New Orleans. Henry's is the best! Great Food, Cool bar, fun atmosphere with friends and family. Pros: Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Specialty Drinks Cons: Very Fattening!!, Not for the Dieters, Long Wait/ Call ahead more

Finally! An authentic Louisiana restaurant 7/25/2005

We tried Henry's at the recommendation of friends (several in fact) and were very pleased. My husband is from Lafayette and this is the first place he found 'like home'. They have a kid's menu with coloring contest to keep them entertained and a lively atmosphere that complements the great service But best of all was the excellent food! We tried the gumbo, etoufee & ooh la la. We met Chef Henry and found him to be very friendly and knowledgeable. We made reservations and it was crowded so this is recommended. A must try it kind of place! Pros: great food, full bar, kid's menu Cons: too loud for some, make reservation more

You have got to be kidding! 7/18/2005

I was born in New Orleans and this restaurant in my opinion was a big disappointment. The portions are small and the food is mediocre. The restaurant has terrible ventilation and smells like someone poured seasonings in the vents. They buy their food at Publix (yes, a waiter told me this one b/c I told him the food didn't taste fresh) and cook it in spices and call it Louisiana style. Everything is small, small portions, small shrimp, small oysters, and small crawfish. However, the price compared to value is just not there. Sorry! O.k. so, a lot of people who aren't familiar with Louisiana food like it, so maybe if you have no expectations of what real Cajun food should taste like, you probably won't be disappointed. If you're from New Orleans or any part of Louisiana and you want fresh quality seafood, you won't find it here. Sorry!!!! more

It doesnt get better then this 3/24/2005

This place is upbeat and lively. Great prompt service and amazing food. Hands down the best place for cajun in the entire city. Makes you feel like your in New Orleans. Try the crawfish! more
