Helendale Dermatology & Med

I have been going to HD for three years. Yes, it is a busy place---I waited 45 minutes past my appointment time in the waiting room, and wasn't happy; however, every visit since has been on time. Once I needed to see Dr. Arthur for a follow up and she was really booked, so they got me in to see the Nurse Practitioner pretty quickly. \r \r The Solodyn they prescribed really cleared up my skin--I have decent but not amazing insurance, and with the coupons they gave me, going through a prescription filling company, I pay between $25 and $35 a month for mine (which is worth it not to have red bumps all over my chin and nose). They do recommend expensive treatments and products at HD, but I choose not to buy them. \r \r Dr. Arthur and her staff (with the exception of one receptionist) have always been polite and professional with me. I think sometimes you may have to advocate for yourself a bit--can't get in to see the doctor? Well, is there anyone else who can see me, like a PA or NP? Been waiting in the exam room for a while? Stick your head out, find an employee, and explain that you have been waiting. Can't afford $125 face cream? Ask if there is anything else they can recommend from the drugstore. When I have done these things, I have had a pretty positive experience. more

Overpriced, snobby and condescending. I have gone to this Dermatology office for over 2 years and my skin has not cleared up. Every time I try to schedule and appointment its for five months in advance. The staff are rude and stuffy. I would never recommend. more

My experience with Dr. Arthur and Helendale Dermatology has been overall very positive. Dr. Arthur is friendly and very knowledgeable when it comes to the skin. I experienced minimal wait times and find the office environment to be very tranquil. It was very easy to schedule an appointment and I didn't have to wait months to see her like I have had to do with other dermatologists. I recommend Helendale to anyone in need of dermatology and cosmetic enhancement services. more

If you have the slightest tinge of coloring to your skin (tan) do not go here. She is very arrogant/self-righteous and rude. There are better ways to educate people about the sun then to start out the appt. with ""What can I do for YOU?"" followed by ""Lose that tan."" I am so angry that I paid for that 5 minute session. There are doctors out there who actually have a nice bedside manner. RUN FROM THIS PLACE! more

I have been a pt at Helendale for over 5 years, and I have had nothing but excellent care! Dr. Arthur and her staff really seem to want the best for me. I do know it can be sometimes ""difficult"" to make appointments, but her nursing staff is always willing to work hard to find the right time to see me. And regardless, Dr Arthur, Jennifer Tantillo, everyone, they make me feel like my time is important, and they show it by taking their time when seeing me! Keep up the great work, ladies!! more

I'm am astonished at the bad reviews. Nothing but professional care there. Yes, you have to wait to get an appointment. That's kinda typical of someplace really good. Nothing but the best to say- my whole family goes there! more

I've been a patient with HDM for many years and they've always gone the extra mile to address my concerns in a timely fashion, even when I had health insurance issues. I don't know who these other reviewers are but their reviews seem like bs/trolling to me. more

I have tolerated their overpriced products and condescending attitudes for years, but the final straw was : after several failed attempts to remove a few tiny warts on my 9yr old's leg, the most recent treatment left a terrible rash that would not go away. When I called for an appt. for this problem, they booked me 6 weeks out! A week later I called, the rash was worse, ""sorry, we're too busy"" to get me in. A week later, begging them for an appointment, ""too busy"" Several more days, the rash looks infected, called them ""nope, too busy"" This past Monday, I called and told them, now he has a rash covering his entire body, what should I do? ""I'm sorry we are booked, you can leave a message with the nurse"" Well, the pediatrician got us right in and sent us straight to the emergency room! His entire body had gone into an id reaction from the infected rash and he has undergone massive doses of steroids, antihistamines and antibiotics. The appointment Helendale gave us, back when I first called in March, was for April 30th. Today is April 13th. Guess I can cancel that appointment! more

My Pharmacy said they only perscribe the most expensive products/drugs and never write generic, in their experience - and it is a Wegman's Pharmacy! If someone has insurance that doesn't cover what they consider ""cosmetic"", they will not cover it. I currently have the top tier of Blue Choice and they will not cover it. The cost of Solodyn is over $500 - can you imagine paying that a month??!! Like a car payment. For now, there is a coupon for it that you only have to pay $20. What happens when that runs out? Why don't they just write a script for generic Minocycline? It is the same thing. When I think of all the money I have wasted at Helendale Dermatology over the years..... more

I would never recommend Helendale Dermatology to anyone! Dr. Elizabeth Arthur is a sham! I spent 2 years buying over priced lotions and creams and was prescribed the most expensive drugs, with no results. When I switched to another dermatologist he couldn't believe the ""cocktail"" of products that she had me using. My new doctor correctly diagnosed me on the first visit and I am saving 100's of dollars a month. I guess all that advertising she does has to get paid for somehow!!!!! more

I recently had a rash on my shoulder and called them to schedule an appointment, but unable to get in for over a month!!! So I called someone else and was able to get in that Same Day! Good thing because it was SHINGLES!!! I could have spread it unknowingly. more
