Best

I've been here four times...inside and out next to the lake...Nice friendly people, and good food! Try the dessert sampler...it's a good share for two people and works out cheaper...

Worst

I used to eat here all the time in the bar with my mom. Leigh waited on us. She was exceptional. The food was excellent. Prices good. I've gone there for special occasions, t...

Great for a Big Lunch Group! 10/18/2006

We showed up without reservations on a weekday and were still seated almost immediately and there were 11 people in our group! I was also flabbergasted when they didn't even flinch when we asked for 11 separate checks!! WOW! The service was incredible and every person in our group raved about their lunch selections. The prices were a bit high, so you should expect to pay a bit more, but when you consider the food and service, it seems reasonable that your bill will bit a bit more. I would like to come back for an evening meal with a group and see how this place fares, but I can wholeheartedly recommend Hayden's for a lunch time meal! Pros: Great Service, Ambience, Ample Parking Cons: Menu is a bit pricey for lunchtime meal more

My new favorite! 7/12/2006

My husband & I went here for the first time ever on our anniversary. All the hostesses were sweet and seated us immediately. Waters were recieved right away and were constantly refilled (a huge plus for my husband who goes through them at an incredible rate!) Our waitress was friendly and super helpful. I ordered off the daily menu - a seaside steak with crab, mashed potatoes & asparagus. I received the wrong order - a huge hunk of plain steak. The waitress was so accommodating, my order corrected so quickly and was SO delicious that I didn't even care about the mistake. She gave us each dessert on the house which she didn't have to do at all. I highly recommend the cheesecake though - she even took off the pecans for my picky husband and created a new topping with brown sugar. Love her! My husband ordered a burger which he says is one of the best he had ever had and it came with his favorite fries - seasoned criss cross so he was happy. Definately a winner, I can't wait to have another occasion to celebrate because I'll be going here again! Pros: Delicous food, friendly staff more

Value for Price 12/6/2005

I have eaten at Hayden's quite frequently and have had the opportunity to try various items on the menu and yet to receive a bad meal. My most favorite is the fresh fish they get in on a daily basis. All of their fish is currently coming in from Hawaii which is a nice treat. You want to add a little something extra, try their wonderful desserts. Pros: Good Presenations, Personable Staff, Meet your needs more

Good Food - Bad Service 7/16/2005

Throughout the years Hayden's Lakefront Grill has been one of my favorite dining spots. I had always recommended the restaurant to friends and business associates. The food has always been excellent. However in recent years their service has declined from ""stellar"" to down right offensive. Maybe it's the snooty teenage hostess that greets you with a ""why do I have to care"" and dragging thier feet attitude or the incredibly forgetful and unapologetic waitress that cant even refill your coffee cup without be asked four times. Having experienced this type of service more than once and having no response to the customer comment cards or on line comments, I feel that this may be the standard mode of operations and therefore I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. Pros: Outdoor Dining, Food Cons: Service, Loud, Hostess Staff more

Poor wine service! 5/9/2005

Our waitress didn't know how to serve wine. She brought drinks to other members of our party, and then set our bottle of wine (not the correct vintage) on the table and walked away! She stopped to take another table's order before returning 5 minutes later with glasses and a corkscrew. She never checked back with us to see how we were doing, until we were clearly finished with our food. We had to ask for more butter for the bread, and overall, the food was slightly above average. The one shinining moment was dessert... excellent! Pros: Great desserts Cons: Poor service more

HAYDENS IS HEAVEN!!! 5/17/2004

I just catered a weekend long event through Haydens, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. First and foremost, the food was delicious....never have I experienced better catered food (even the steamed veggies were perfectly al dente...a pet peve of mine) and a more attentive wait staff. We had various meals prepared from a simple breakfast to carvingboard deli lunches to chicken cordon bleu and even a mexican fiesta of pulled pork enchiladas.....all were excellent. I was proud to hear all of the raves that the food garnered, and the variety of banquet rooms gave us plenty of space for our event. Thanks you, Haydens for yet another positive cullinary experience! I strongly urge anyone looking to book a space for a rehearsal dinner or business banquet to call upon Chef Mark and the staff at Haydens!! Pros: great food, beautiful ambience, great food more

hooray Hayden's 10/30/2003

Food is always good, try the Happy Hour menu as a sampler! The wine list is small, but good. They offer many seasonal dishes, rarely will you see the same menu twice, but you'll find your old favorites there! Try the Ahi Tuna sandwich, it is great! I recommend the field greens with blue cheese, it is a meal in itself! We'll always be faithful to this place, even worth the extra drive from Portland! Pros: food, service, menu Cons: a bit out of the way more

Atkin's menu finally 10/26/2003

Hayden's was quite a find, a restaurant that caters to Atkin's customers. There Atkin's menu had several fine entrees, appetizers, and desserts. Service was excellent and the whole experience enjoyable. The diversity in the menu gives my spouse, who is on a non-Atkin's plan, a nice selection too. Larry Pros: Atkins, menu selection, service more

Perfect dining on the ""lake"" 8/28/2003

We love this place in the summer, sit outdoors and enjoy their decent priced, excellent quality meals, and tons to take home! Great menu, changes regularly. The staff does a great job with all the people. Winter, we love to snuggle in, sometimes in the lounge and enjoy some spirits and fabulous food or spectacular happy hour. Full meals for under $5. This place can't be beat, even if it is out of the way from Portland. Pros: excellent menu!!!, fair prices, yummy, atmosphere, parking Cons: There's only one more

A so-so dinner 6/7/2003

Unfortunately, I was sadly disappointed by the service and the food. The wait person tried way too hard to sell salads, soup. She also pushed additional drinks when our glasses were still half full. One member of our group ordered a steak dish medium well and received a relatively rare piece of meat. Although the wait person graciously took it back, the piece of meat that was returned was not the same. It was gristly, fatty, and equally underdone. The Texas barbeque special, while ample, was very fatty. Finally, back to the wait person. It was quite obvious who the host was in our group. Yet the wait person put the bill down in front of one of the other guests and then returned the credit card receipt by again placing an uncovered bill in front of someone other than the host. Pros: Pleasant Cons: Service snafus, Some poor food more

very nice 4/21/2003

Very nice outstanding wait staff. The food was very good and well presented.Well worth the trip to Taulatin.Highly recomended! Pros: service, food Cons: location more

I LOVE This Place!! 1/21/2003

I went to Haydens with mixed expectations, and left with a full stomach and pleasant memories....anyone who rates this place low must be a disgruntled former employee....It is a great, down to earth fantastic dining experience!! Give it a Try!! Pros: great value, not too she-she, great cocktails Cons: getting popular more

Best of the BEST 12/29/2002

I have dined all over Portland, from The Portland City Grill to Higgins, Heathman and beyond....and never have I had a more satisfying gastronimcal experience than at Hayden's in Tualitin..... Chefs Mark and Madison personally came to my table and discussed the menu items. The pork tenderloin with Ancho chiles and sweet potato & pecan tales was out of this world! So was the beef with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. The crayfish springroll appetizer is not to be missed, either! And the Oregon Field Greens salad with filberts and blue cheese with a raspberry vinagrette is lovely. Those unhappy with Haydens are few and far between....most seem to be from the Sunday Brunch, which is a value (FREE for kids) that you have to allow a slip in service for. Dinner is the deal here. Do yourself a favor and visit Haydens SOON! Pros: great food, great winelist, great service Cons: not open 24 hours, no prepackaged foods more

Won't be going back... 11/24/2002

Read all the reviews; decided to give this place a try. Might have been a mistake to go on a Sunday evening. Most of the wait staff were teens, and it looked like we got the rookie! Service was really bad! Not sure why the heat was turned up to about 100 degrees; it made my 3 year old want to take all his clothes off... Waitress was asleep at the wheel. The food was okay; but we didn't get exactly what we ordered. Other people in our party didn't want to ""make a big deal about it"". We won't be going back. Pros: Cheap, Free kids meal Sunday Cons: Inexperienced help more

ron is an idiot 7/15/2002

I took my wife here one evening just to try something new. We were blown away with the effort made my all of the staff to make our dinner enjoyable. The chef came our to our table before we ordered to explain some of the items of the menu, since we had never been here before. The food was great! I have never had a steak that was as tender as that one was. It was like cutting french toast. It was nice to not have to go downtown to find excellent food! Pros: attention to detail, tasty food, live music some days Cons: wait for good seats more

Kudo's to Hayden's! 6/17/2002

Finally a dining experience to brag about, this place has it all together. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, the Chef walked around to make sure everything was good, as did the Manager. Having a view of the lake with ducks was an added bonus. We can't wait for a nice day so that we can sit outside and take advantage of the beautiful setting. As for ""Ronnie's"" terrible rating, I think he must have been at a different establishment. Pros: Great Staff, Diversified Menu, Nice View more

Fast service and hungy ducks 6/9/2002

Last Sunday we headed out for coffee and to try a new place for breakfast. We ended up at Hayden's and we're pleasantly surprised. The food was good, the service friendly and very fast. We we're immediately sat outside at a ""lake"" front table and the wiatress did a very nice job. My girlfriends omlette was very good and I enjoyed the salmon hash (although not the best I've had locally). All in all a fine place to eat breakfast and I've had similar results in a previous dinner. Nice place, and plenty of ducks to finish off your toast. Pros: Fast, solid/good food, ducks Cons: bicyclists, a clown! scary more

The Worst 5/29/2002

The worst staff, food and ambience you could ask for. If zero (0) where an option I would still try to subtract from the rating. People in this area must venture further into Portland. This isn't even as good as TGIF or Olive Garden. Pros: They had parking Cons: everything else more

Potential to be your local hangout 5/20/2002

There are only a few places in this area where you can get a restaurant-type meal, and Hayden's is not a bad choice! There is always something fun going on in the bar, the happy-hour prices are good, and the man-made lake is kind of enjoyable to watch. The food leaves a little to be desired, but it's not too bad. They put cold salmon on caesar salad, it was odd, and too salty, but a clever approach I guess. I love squash ravioli but these were swimming in sugar water and huge shavings of cheese. Unfortunatly I could barely eat 2 of the ravioli they were so sweet. All of the grill items smell great as you walk to your table past the kitchen. Check out their wine tasting night, if they still have 'em. Pros: outdoor seating?, happy hour, lively bar Cons: incositent food more
