best sushi, authentic Korean and Japanese! 3/1/2011

I am a regular customer at Hayashi. I am no longer interested in sushi anywhere else. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and they maintain a welcoming atmosphere, the sushi chef is very talented and cute! The food does not always come out right away, especially on Friday and Saturday nights when they are almost always packed, but this should be expected as it is not a fast food restaurant! Good food takes longer, and at Hayashi the wait is worth it. I recommend for adventurous sushi eaters; the caterpillar maki: an eel maki with avocado laid atop along with eel sauce or the sunshine maki: salmon cucumber lemon and cilantro its so fresh, I also enjoy the saba, hamachi and mutsu nigiri sushi- superb! From the kitchen I absolutely recommend the spicy seafood udon: a hearty spicy soup with scallops, mussels, shrimp and vegetables- a must try! They are also one of the few restaurants around to serve authentic Korean dishes, the Bulgoki is a Korean marinated beef dish served on a hot sizzling skillet. They also have the Korean dish, Bibimbob, which is a delicious combination of marinated vegetables on rice with an egg atop served with a Korean chili paste. There are plenty of Japanese dishes as well along with the best pad thai!!! more

Excellent food and service 8/3/2008

My husband and I have been to Hayashi several times with our three children and it's now our favorite restaurant!! It is cozy (seating ~ 24) and the owner, Yung, makes you feel as though you are eating at her dining room table in her home. We have been on a Friday night and it was crowded so I thought we would be rushed out but absolutey not. I could not believe it. Her number one concern is that you have a wonderful experience. When my husband first wanted to try Hayashi, I must admit, I was less than enthusiastic because I do not care for sushi and the thought of eating raw fish did not appeal to me but I was wonderfully surprised. There is an extensive menu for those who do not care for sushi. I have to admit though, I have found some sushi items that are cooked and I have grown to love them. I highly recommend the Shrimp Tempura Maki, my daughter and I love it. If you like it spicy, I recommend the Crazy Maki, the sauce that is drizzled on is unbelievalbe. My husband has tried several types of sushi that contain raw fish and he said it is the freshest he has ever had. They also serve lunch specials Tues.-Sat. 11-2:30pm that are very reasonable and tasty. If you like shrimp, I recommend the Shrimp Tempura, it is very lightly battered and the freshest I have ever had and if you like beef, I recommend the beef Bul-Go-Ki, it is marninated and delicious. There is also a kid's menu that has chicken or shrimp. My son and daughter have both tried it and they loved it. The meal is served with chopsicks which took a little getting use to but a fork is provided if needed. They also have chopstick helpers for those who need help, which my son uses. They serve beer and wine with imported brands for those who would like to try something new. The last time we went was my son's birthday last month (his choice) and the waitress told us of a new dessert. It was a biscuit with vanilla filling and raspberry sauce. It was incredible! Hayashi also does takeout. You have to try it!! Pros: Food, Service and Atmoshere more

Great sushi in an unusual location. 12/3/2007

Looking for a sushi place between Providence and Boston, we found Hayashi. It was way beyond our expectations. The menu was creative, the fish was so fresh, the maki was lightly rolled and delicious and the service was wonderful. The unassuming outside hid a gem! It rivals anything in Boston or Providence. Pros: Extremely high quality fish. Cons: Their special maki rolls are pricey. more

Best Sushi in Southeastern Massachusetts 11/28/2007

Hayashi has been my favorite little gem for years. I drive out of my way to get the freshest sushi available. For a small restaurant they have a great selection of sake. With tasteful decor and a flatscreen plasma television, coming here is always a treat! Most any day you come, the owner is working and greets customers with her warm smile and conversation. You will be impressed with this place in a big way. more

The Freshest Sushi prepared with style 3/4/2007

I've tried every sushi restaurant in Boston, NYC and DC, and by far the very best is Hayashi. Not only is the sushi the freshest I've ever encountered, but I'm now addicted to Chef Young's white tuna tataki with onion and cilantro. It's heavenly! Hayashi also offers what might be the only Asian brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30AM to 3PM with a choice of sushi, Korean and Japanese egg, meat and fish dishes. Who would have believed that Easton is the home of the most inventive, authentic sushi experience you'll ever find. Pros: Conveniently located in Easton near route 138 Cons: It's a small restaurant, but I've never had to wait for a table. more
