Believe me this hotel is the best hotel there could be on the island... I have stayed in plenty to know what is good for your money...

we will recommend 11/1/2010

This hotel is older but it is very nice. We stayed Fri. to Sun. One of the pools is heated and and the jacuzzies are very nice. (new) The kitchenette saved us big money since we stopped at Walmart tha is right next door for groceries. They do offer complimentary breakfast which is nice. Went to Moody Gardens it was under construction. Very few people on the island in October so we didn't fight any crowds anywhere. more

FANTASTIC 10/20/2010

The pool area was fantastic. No one cleaned our room during our entire stay.“Hawthorne Suites is a great place for families to stay. The rooms are small, but functional and quite adequate for what we needed. more

Comfy!! 10/13/2010

The people at the front desk are VERY nice! We went in not having a reservation and they took us in, gave us a great rate, gave us a great room. The room is very nice, and the view was beautiful. The size of the patio was perfect it was a great size and we had a great view of the ocean and the pool. They have two pools one for children and one for adults (we didnt get to swim in the pools, but they looked nice). Room service came every day and provided towels, they dont clean for you but every 3rd day. Which is fine we stayed tiddy ourselves. We only took advantage of the breakfest once because my kids slept in every day. The brkfst is very good- scrambled eggs, sausage , turkey bacon , waffles, cereals, all juices, coffee, VERY NICE- if you are an early bird 7am -9am ONLY. Kitchen had stove and fridge and dishwasher. They provide you with dishwasher tablets but no dish soap so take your own!! Fridge worked great. My 4 year old daughter and i slept in the main bed which was comfy and my husband and my 18 month old son slept on the pull out and he said that was comfy too! more

Good Decent Vacation 9/24/2010

My family stayed there on labor day 2010 with the kids and enjoyed the condo room 3307 it was decorated nice the decor was tropical flowers the room was clean and comfortable room was at 70 degrees :)) i cant understand the bad reviews !! the pools are clean the hot tubs are clean and hot. they have a great work out facility that i used new equipment they had a treadmill and universal machine with a tv in corner, just a little smaller than im use too. also tennis court looked good didnt bring a racket! they have security from 7pm to7am at the gate one way in and out. i saw them walking around all night. the pool closes at 11 pm. the staff was friendly, maintenance was always around they were acually repairing an a/c unit at 10pm on the roof for a family. all the people we met there enjoyed the place and said it was better than some other galveston hotels they stayed in. the breakfast was sufficient waffles sausage eggs cereal of all kinds they also had bisquits and gravy all kinds of juices and milk and hot coffee. not served on china probably would have looked better. i didnt mind it was good enough to start my day. Ihop is down the street if you want silverware and glass plates and a bill. we will come back again more

Excellent deal 9/23/2010

an excellent deal for families. The pool and garden areas are very nice. more

Not too bad 9/20/2010

The Victorian suites and rooms start at about $90, and for being right on the Gulf, that's a good price. They give you a free Continental breakfast, plus you can hook up to their internet service at no charge. They have pools and a lagoon, tennis and many amenities. more

We stayed an extra night for sure!!! 9/16/2010

My husband and I stayed here for the Memorial day weekend. We were in town for a wedding on the Strand. My other relatives who payed a bit more for their hotel rooms came over to visit since we had a balcony and an ocean view. We had such an amazingly relaxing time that we even decided to stay an extra night. more

Trashy 3/21/2010

The room was pretty small, but adequate and having a small kitchen was nice since we had 3 kids, but for the price, the accommodations were very poor. The furniture was cheap, the beds were uncomfortable and the blankets were cheap, uncomfortable, and had holes and cigarette burns all over them. The TV in the bedroom didn't work at all and the TV in the living room kept changing channels sporadically during shows and movies that we paid extra for. The pool was okay, but I was afraid that one of the kids would swollow some of the water and get sick, because it was so cloudy. Just not what I would expect for the price. I have stayed in much nicer hotels all over the country for half the price. I would not stay here again. Pros: Near the Seawall Cons: Everything else more

Best Hotel on the Beach! 5/10/2007

Recently stayed at the Victorian Hotel at which time it was under construction. Regardless of the hammering, the birds were still loud and the wind was blowing which knocked out the noise factor. The staff was all smiles and wanting to help you. There were lots of things to do at the Victorian and all along the beach. Since the Victorian is on the Beach, it made it the ""perfect"" get a way. Thank you Victorian Staff Members for all that you did to help our vacation be one to remember. I do not know who wrote CONSTRUCTION review...they must have other problems because the Victorian hotel was exceptional to us. The meals were great too! Roxanne Pros: Thumbs up! more

Best Hotel on the Island 8/18/2006

I was there this past weekend and had a ball. The staff was friendly, helpful and very nice. Anything we needed the got for me, or were able to tell me where to get it. The rooms are great! they are apartments with lots of space. The pools and especially the kids pool were amazing. We enjoyed ourselves there very much. The whole stay ther was a time to remember, everyone was great and the view from the rooms were exceptional! more

Construction zone 11/18/2002

My wife and I love the old world charm Of Galveston Island. We like it so much that we are planning to retire there, and we spend several long weekends per year. Both of the condo's we normally stay at had no available rooms so we decided to give the Victorian a try. First of all the property was under heavy construction which meant the lovely sound of hammers and power tools all day and well into the night, as well as blocked or non operational elevators and stairways. The room was basic at best, tiny mini fridge, tiny two burner stove, no cleaning supplies, AT ALL (not even a dish towel) and the view?? we had a beautiful unobstructed view of a Walmart parking lot. This place will have to step up to the standards of other propertys in town if they hope to last. Pros: good location Cons: low standards, poor value for the mo, no extras more
